I think you gain a small amount for viewing the ad, and a larger amount if they actually click on it.

That's true, since the flash pool is around 50+ submissions and some flashes will undoubtedly be missed.

As for the OP, I try not to judge based on level. But when I see a low level, recently joined, low post count user who's obviously trolling, I tend to ignore them.
I'm not usually susceptible to fast food advertising, but whenever I see the Wendy's Baconator, it always makes me hungry. This article only fuels the hunger.
