the US dropped leaflets in Iraq warning of the bombing intended to take the gov. by surprise and shock and awe them into submission. You cant warn people you are going to Bomb with a Surprise Bombardment can you? NO then the US must be lying!

i think large nuts (lol) to small fruit are more representative.
there is a relation between size intelligence, but its ratio to body size (me has more brain by pound than stoopid whale!)... and its not particularly indicative of intelligence in humans.

i think i had read something about women having both smaller brains and brain/weight ratios yet scoring higher than men on some test... [which i can't name or give more details about :( ]

Practically every time there is an "unexplained" thing like that in the news. Last year there was a spiral in the sky that was a sattelite and sure enough, people started speculating the very same day about how it was a missile and a rocket and all that bullshit.
Every time there's a weird sound in the sky, a blob of light, an optical illusion, a weird storm cloud and so on, people start making shit up about aliens and secret military plots.

actually it was a rocket malfunction that caused people to claim aliens, but your point still stands.

... if its the Russians again, why don't we know? we usually have an extremely good idea as to what the Ruskies are up to ... especially when they tell us what they're doing.

this being said, raising children to have world views that are incompatible with the society they live in is a questionable thing to do.

I love how you phrase your opening sentence to suggest that the US is being obstinate while the Taliban is making a perfectly reasonable demand. Do you have a hard-on for Islamic fundamentalists or do you just hate Western civilization?

well that was pretty much what i expected, and shows that terrible things aren't the likely outcome of negotiations. US listens, Taliban make unreasonable demands (i need talks with Al-Qaeda just to hear how batshit insane their demands will be), US walks back to its howitzers.
