If you are still looking, you might check out this one I threw together. I can save and give you all 3 layers as different pictures, or just send you the PSD document with all 3 layers in it.

What do you think?

*Ragdoll*

What is it supposed to be made out of? (I assume burlap+cotton or something) The legs look like they've melted into the floor. If anything, the legs should only be distorted a little bit from gravity on the floor. Maybe make the arms a little bigger, even though it isn't a real person, the proportions should be similar. I don't know, just my 2¢

I'm no pro, in fact, I'm less experienced at this than you are. I like where you can go with this picture, for example, maybe fixing himself/herself up with that needle in its left hand. Or maybe go an entirely different direction and have this doll scavenge materials off of another doll, like its skin, or button eyes.

"I absolutely love those eyes of yours..."

Just an idea, keep at it.

Ok this should be very close to the end for this picture. I upgraded the grayscale and made some very minor tweaks. Enjoy and feel free to bash my picture with your critique, so long as it is usable information and not bashing for the sole reason of boosting your own self confidence.

I've changed some things due to the very insightful comments that I've gotten on my picture. I also changed the color of the canvas because I just didn't like all of the whitespace... I've added a few more notes outside of the color so as to show the notes themselves cause the color. I've also tweaked the picture, cleaned up some rough coloring/line work and removed the caption. I don't think I'm going to brick the entire building, mainly because I think it would look bad once I finished due to the amount of depth and the fact that my brush size wouldn't be able to scale very well with the perspective. That and I've somehow managed to misplace my lines of perspective....

Anyway, here is my picture. Tell me if you think I need to make any more changes.

I've fixed up the lines, and zoomed in a bit, now it's focused on the guy and the building rather than just the building. In hindsight, I should have probably doubled the dimensions.... its only 1280x800
I dont like the caption, I understand you were aiming for it to be like it is on that wall, but it doesnt really look too good.
Also; I think itd look better and bring across the point better if the non-coloured part was actually in greyscale rather than just lines.

Yeah I'm not too fond of the caption placement... I was thinking about having it drooped over the curb with hand-drawn letters that resemble musical notes. Do you like the phrase though? Should it stay as it is, or should I change it to something like "Life Without Music is a Life Without Color"?

As for the grayscale instead of just the lines of the building, I'll try it out and see how it looks. The reason I didn't do the entire building in bricks was both laziness (its a lot of bricks).

Hey, I'm still getting used to my tablet, but I managed to create some decent art with it. Tell me what you think, and how I should go about improving it. I call it "Life Without Music" and it's a picture of a guy playing his harmonica outside of a music shop. The music is causing the normally black and white world to become vibrant and colorful. I'm still new to the whole non image manipulation aspect of Adobe Photoshop. Thanks for taking a look.

I thought that I would like the look of heavily outlined drawings over a real life picture as a background, but I probably should have drawn the earth instead of using a picture as my source. In addition to your thoughts about my drawing over a picture, I also agree that the outline may be (quite) a bit too heavy. I don't intend on being the go-to guy in the near future for a drawn octopus because I don't plan on drawing another one for quite some time. Thanks for the criticisms.

So should I use Adobe Illustrator for the outlines and throw it into photoshop for the colors / textures? I'm completely new to the entire drawing on my computer thing. Anyway, I do appreciate your help, I get more help from people pointing out flaws and possible ways to fix them than having people praise my first works.

Also, since no one seemed to notice it, I'll post the other picture that was in my original post. This one is a little more original, but ultimately still sloppy. I didn't fix it up because I kind of liked the messy look.

I would distract them with the candy while I swipe their wallet.
On the other hand... I wonder how hard I could hit someone with this candy without it breaking...

Yeah as I said earlier, I've been more into the photo manipulation aspect of Photoshop rather than the illustration. It wasn't until I got my tablet that I've been experimenting with brushes and the sort. Right now I'm focusing less on creating really original art and more on practicing the basics of drawing on a tablet.

As for everyone else, I really do appreciate the help and advice that you are all giving me. I hope to improve enough to actually post something worthwhile on the site.

The reason it is blurry is because I used a soft brush. The reason I did this was because I based the picture off of the original picture I made, which was a stencil. Also this was more of a learning experience with my Wacom Bamboo.

I actually call it a Dogtapus...

Also, I just realized that I nearly broke a rule, on my first post...
"Making "Hi, I'm new", "I'm back", or "I'm leaving NG" threads without significant content pertinent to your situation." is considered ban-worthy...

Hey guys, I'm a long time Newgrounds user, but new to actually making an account and attempting to contribute to the site. I'm also very new to actually creating art, I just got a tablet and have been trying to teach myself how to draw on it. I've attached one of my favorite image manipulations of mine, but I've used my tablet to try and draw it instead of just merging multiple images and textures. Tell me what you think, and how I should go about making it look good, as opposed to mediocre.

I'll also link one of my first doodles with the tablet just a few days ago, tell me what you think about that one as well...

As to why they both have octopuses in them... I don't really know
