Anyways, I have to say that this whole thread is rediculous.
People can like any time of music they want, and if you just happen to care, then you are a pretty rediculous person.
I like a lot of rock music, I like some rap, I even like some pop-ish songs.
Don't get me wrong, there is a lot of crappy music out there, but just because I don't like it doesn't mean I have to get in a big argument over it.

Rap is not all about sex and crap like that. There are a lot of deep songs that have really good lyrics.
Rock is not all screaming into a microphone and complaining about shit. There are a lot of songs that a lot of people can relate to that aren't depressing.
BTW, whoever started this needs to get a life.

well one band had to start it all otherwise there would be no bands because there has to be a first o.o. If there isn't a first, there is no rest.
So sure you could be inspired by a band, but it still doesn't mean you wouldn't have that band if the band that inspired you wasn't around.
You could still be just as great.

i mean, a band can form on its own, not just because a great band formed before it.
it's not like one band starts a new genre. sure, it's happened before, but there are all types of rock, so don't go saying that falloutboy would be around and the rest wouldn't, because they probably ALL would still be around o.0
