Actually, I have been seeing the score on a few of my songs drop steadily for a little while. I just kind of assumed that somebody had it out for me and was taking the time to vote zero every day.

Pretty much since I submitted it and advertised on the front page, my song 'do not operate' has been going down everyday. As well, I noticed that an older song of mine seems to be doing the same thing now.

Happy birthday! I remember 18. The only thing it really meant for me was that on the odd chance that I got carded it wouldn't matter. Have a great day filled with debauchery!

It can take a few days. Depends on how many audio mods are currently active and doing their stuff. Five days sounds like a long time; Try PMing an audio mod (list here) if you haven't already. Try to be patient, though.

These women are not feminists; that's not the kind of statement a feminist would make. A feminist would more likely be against women having long nails because it conforms to society's image of what a woman should be.

I think.

Awesome.

Lately I've been thinking a lot about my music and whether I'd be able to really do anything with it. I'm getting out of college soon and realizing that life is fucking scary, but what I'm most passionate about is music. I've been feeling quite frustrated.

Sorry for the corny little monologue. I guess I'll sign up and post a few of my tracks. Nice Find, Maestro!

Topic: A Change In The Licencing!!!

Posted: 03/15/08 10:17 PM

Forum: Audio

I think that the best way to handle it is to have it the way it was (or the way it seemed). If you automatically put us under a more protected license (like before) and state that our work is not to be used for commercial purposes unless an agreement is made between the author and musician, things seem to be okay.

I have to admit, though, that the whole thing is really ambiguous. It isn't completely clear what our rights are and what Flash authors' obligations are.

I wouldn't want my music to be used for commercial purposes without my knowledge and consent in any case, Flash or otherwise. I only think it's fair that I am entitled to compensation if my work is used commercially, and I definitely want to be the one to give permission.

I like the idea of letting audio artists choose their own license, but until then, I'd like to keep the rights I had.

I was just about to make a thread about this...

As he mentioned above, my brother, VegetarianMeat, was having some problems concerning compensation and sent a PM to Tom. I really hope this isn't the 'exciting change' Tom had in mind.

I've always found this part of NG to be kind of ambiguous. I take it most audio artists don't (or didn't) really know that they were entitled to any compensation. I didn't even know until I was one day PMed by somebody offering me compensation for a game. I've been paid several times for my work, between ten and twenty percent.

Music is one of the most important aspects of movies and games, and I don't think it's fair that Flash authors can make money on submissions using our songs. I'm happy that someone can profit from my work, but I should at least get a percentage.

I don't like that the license was just changed with all of our work sitting on the site, either. Our rights have been stripped without any notification.

I don't know what I'm going to do, but I'm worried I might have to start deleting my music, and I'd really rather not have to.

Picture I made when I planned to start this thread:

A few years ago (when I was about sixteen) I was extremely depressed. I became addicted to drugs and lost all kinds of weight. I used to cut myself every once in a while (hands, arms, chest, stomach), but I never did any real damage -- no intense bleeding. I only have a few (very minor) scars. I used to smack my head on things and punch it, too. Sometimes I'd get bloody knuckles from hitting walls.

I haven't done anything like that in about a year. I no longer have a drug problem, and overall my life is pretty good right now.

I think a lot more people have intentionally hurt themselves than admit to it. It seems pretty common amongst teenagers. I'm guessing a lot of sad kids do it just because they've heard about it and wonder what the fuss is.

In any case - it's not a good idea, but I think it's generally a passing phase. I only hope most people can get out of the habit and be happier in life.

If you have to ask, you're probably the most uneasy about it. It's the kind of thing that's different for everyone.

People were making jokes about it the day it happened. Was that too early? Is it ever okay to joke about a person's death? They're all questions you just have to ask yourself and figure out. It differs from person to person.

lolwut?

I don't think so. Flash authors don't get to block NG users from voting on their submissions; it's a user's right to be able to vote on content here -- it's part of the privilege of registering here.

I dislike being zero-bombed as much as anybody else, but I just don't think it makes sense to be able to block users from voting on your submissions -- Are you simply going to block everyone who gives a low score to your work? Who will remain but yourself? From that point you'll just end up fiving your material all the time.

They should at least show the users that vote your song anything lower than a 3.

No, they shouldn't. Voting is anonymous; that's typically how it works. If a voter wishes to reveal his or her identity, (s)he may do so, but otherwise there is a right to anonymity.

I'm from Montreal. I love the city; it's great. Lately, we've had some crazy weather, though...

Over the past week we got TONS of snow; more than we've been used to for the past few years. Temperatures are supposed to rise this weekend, and we're actually expected to get rain. Then it's going to go below zero again and it will all turn to ice.

If you're willing to live through the weather, it's a great place.

I just looked over your post and realized you said you'd be coming in four years... I thought you said days.

Erm -- It's a great city. Lots of places to go, things to do, and fun to be had.

I dislike the word random because it seems to be used for any reason at all by young people nowadays (ugh).

I also have a distaste for the word literally; not because it's a bad word, but because people misuse/overuse it ("I literally failed that test!" -- shaddap, idiot).

I don't actually know if I have a least favorite word, though, and I'm sure whatever it could be, it is subject to change.

I know a few signs because my little brother starting signing when he was a baby (he's now three years old). We watched these "Signing Time" DVDs with him because my mother always wanted to do something with sign language. She's been taking ASL courses for the past few years now and she has fluent conversations with deaf people.

It's a neat language to learn, but it takes patience.

Why would I want to rename it? The name is classic now, and changing it would be sad; nothing would be the same. I like the way Newgrounds sounds anyway, along with its abbreviation, NG.

I find it funny how most people are understanding "rename Newgrounds" as "put something in the place of 'New' in 'Newgrounds.' "
