The same goes for the poeple that visit the art forum; in addition, they come here because they like the way the forum is run, they like the community that is active here, they like the general `culture` that the art forum houses.

I think the kind of exclusivity of people having to have some artistic merit and posting a picture to prove it before asking relevant questions is backward and not what any forum should be about.

And thats exactly why your question was answered regardless of you breaking that rule.

I dont understand why anyone would want to see a collab like this, i wanted to draw a horse.
Do i have to draw the line from the top and work down?

Nah you can basically do anything, if it breaks a rule you can just remove the rule.

I made an animated sonic ring as part of my collection of free graphics to be used on your personal and commercial games.

Description:
-----------------------
Sonic Ring Animations in 4 sizes and 30 frames each one:
16x16, 32x32, 64x64, 128x128

All files in PNG with alpha channel

¿What you think?

You can find this and more useful graphics in the website of my sign.

I like the pic, but you arent supposed to post a starter pic anymore...
I think its great you are doing this for free, most artists are egotistical bastards that dont care about anybody else; I know I hate every single one of them with every fiber of my being.

I totally agree with you, but this is something that has on multiple occasions been discussed in the lounge. As it is I think the advantages of the rule outweigh the disadvantages. Serious art discussions have in the past taken place both in the lounge as well as in threads created for these discussions. the discussion started just thought of creating a picture depicting the topic of the discussion. PROBLEM SOLVED!

Now, in this instance, Leggy brings up the rules, liljim slaps him, and then everyone jumps on the bandwagon and starts a fucking riot.
But why?
What causes such a downward spiral into chaos and disorder?
What causes people to just lose their sense of humanity and revert into beasts of the wild, feeding and fighting with no rational thought.
I don't know whether to laugh at how ridiculous the forum has become, or whether to cry and the fact that it lies in ruins.
The forum has become the perfect model of a downward spiral into pandemonium and madness.
Is everyone too proud, so proud in fact that regardless of it they are wrong, they will still keep fighting?
Is everyone too proud to reach a compromise, an agreeable state where issues can be sorted out and the flames of hatred quenched?
Do I feel this way because I was away when the chaos started and was thus not lured into the burning wrath?
Or do I feel this way because I still retain a sense of morality and, although I love shenanigans, I feel that I could not ever stoop to such a level?
A war of words has become childish, and while each side may raise valid issues, it's become more a game of Red Rover, but neither side is winning.
Although an art forum reg, I'm an outsider on this discussion and I just await to see what happens.
I regret that I have but one post to make for my forum.

well jon, Although I partly agree with you, I also think there is
A: a huge difference between the two seperate events, this time, Jim removed the rule about startingpics so that he was in retrospect not breaking any rules.
B: Any normally functioning state can in wartime navigate away from certain otherwise desirable regulations for the sake of fighting a war. Ill leave it up to you to draw the parallels. True, noone wins in a war, but sometimes you lose more not going to war.

It wasnt about you asking for help
and frankly, you were only told about the rules after four poeple had answered your question. Furthermore legolass didnt only point to the rules, he ALSO answered your question.

The mess you are talking about is the result of you removing rules as you see fit just so they suit your particular needs in that particular moment.

I think that you think this is about you not posting a starter pic. THIS IS NOT ABOUT YOU NOT POSTING A STARTER PIC! THIS IS ALSO NOT ABOUT US NOT WANTING TO ANSWER QUESTIONS!

Wim Delvoye made this piece: Cloaca. It's a machine that basically makes shit like the human body does. You can buy a bag of shit for a shit-ton of money (see what I did there?) and he gets sponsored by the government for it.
Is this still in the name and sake of art or not, in your opinion?

Lets keep this clear poeple, this is the art forum, so its for discussion of art. government sponsorship is obviously a political issue
