You know some of the ones you doubted are actually mentioned to be in the game in the articles I posted. The Twisted Metal one even has a shot from in the game of Sweet Tooth. Also with games like ICO it's not so much the characters that would be used but stages. More so Shadow of Colossus which could be pretty cool.

Honestly, just because it's a crossover fighter featuring chracters of IPs from one first party company, doesn't mean it is going to be a Smash bros. rip. That sort of gameplay wouldn't translate (very well) for these characters, as only a handful are cartoony enough for it to feel natural. If this is going to be a simple fighting game, my money is on it being in the style of Tekken or Mortal Kombat. At the same time, even that would feel awkward, since most Sony IPs revolve around gun-toting heroes.

Sony Smash Bros?! Posted November 26th, 2011 in Video Games

Well it looks like the years of fantasizing about a Sony brawler may be finally coming to an end. It looks like there is a Sony "Super Smash Bros" game in the works.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-1 1-25-what-is-superbots-very-amazing-play station-3-exclusive

Word of the mystery brawler first emerged on The Paul Gale Network, which claimed it featured a number of Sony mascots, including Parappa the Rappa (Parappa the Rapper), Kratos (God of War), Sly Cooper (Sly Cooper), Nathan Drake (Uncharted), Sweet Tooth (Twisted Metal), Colonel Mael Radec (Killzone) and Fat Princess (Fat Princess).

The report also mentioned a Sandover Village stage (from Jak & Daxter), Hot Shots Golf characters in stage backgrounds, a LittleBigPlanet stage and a Buzz! trivia mini-game. A James Bond character is also mentioned.

Current speculation points to SuperBot Entertainment, a Culver City, California-based studio confirmed to be working on a "very amazing PS3 game" for Sony Computer Entertainment America, as developer of the game.

SuperBot's website describes the company as "an exclusive developer of Sony Computer Entertainment America" and reveals it is "currently in production of a yet-to-be announced PS3 title".

According to a job advert, SuperBot is after a senior combat designer with "a strong familiarity with fighting games and fighting game theory".

Another job advert asks for a lead designer with "a strong familiarity with online mode and matchmaking design as they apply to console gaming".

On SuperBot's website are pictures of arcade fighting sticks.

More things that hint to the game is a senior level designer that has numerous tweets about a game, including the picture below.

1.Our capture station and waiting area - Parappa is a permanent resident http://twitpic.com/6a60jz [Backup]

2.The character artist sitting a row ahead of mine is modeling polygonal female boobies. Carry on...

3.Our studio fighters getting their brawl on http://twitpic.com/6au76k [Backup]

4.Racing to finish a level design doc for today's review - map layout is looking spiffy if I do say so myself.

5.Slam! Second level design pitch approved by our studio leads! Now onto Sony Santa Monica for a final green light.

6.In the middle of a skype video interview with a level design candidate from Osaka, Japan.

7.New Sony Playstation commercial vaguely foreshadowing our soon to be announced title - http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&

8.Checking out the original art assets from a Sony IP title we're appropriating for my level - very cool seeing this environment in raw form.

So what do you guys think? It looks pretty legit. This could be a pretty awesome game.

Response to: Official Loz Skyward Sword Thread Posted November 22nd, 2011 in Video Games

I just thought you guys might like this little story...

I work at Best Buy part time and today I had a elderly lady come in asking for the Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword bundle. Naturally one would assume it is for her grandson or maybe even her son who is an old school Nintendo fan from back in the day. She proceeds to tell me that it is for her and she has been playing the game since the original Nintendo days. I was a bit thrown back by this as she started to talk about the older Zeldas to me.

I personally have never been into the Zelda games because they just don't do it for me, but I have always have had such a deep respect for the series. When you think about it very few video games are 25 years old and still relevant. Close to none actually.

Well anyway, enjoy your games guys. Don't feel bad if in 25 years you guys are picking up the 50th anniversary of Zelda game and are talking to youngins about how you have been a fan of Zelda for a long time and age is just a number.

Rules/Guidelines:

1.) The game has to of been released in 2011. No exceptions. This isn't your favorite game of all time awards. These awards are only for Xbox 360/PS3/Wii/PC/DS/PSP/Iphone.

2.) Don't vote for yourself in the user award categories. Not only do you look like an ass, but your vote won't be counted. Also, do not use alts to vote for yourself either. Anyone found doing so will forfeit their votes and risk a ban.

3.) If you don't know anyone on the forums for the User Awards section, just leave that section out altogether. Likewise with the Game Awards section, if you can't think of something for a category, leave it out. However if you don't vote for the majority of the categories in the Game Awards section, your votes may not be counted.

4.) All votes must be posted by December 10th, 2011 before 12:00 midnight. Results should be up shortly afterwards.

5.) This is not a thread for discussing the awards. A counterpart thread may be made but any post that is not on topic will most likely be deleted and your votes may run the risk of not being counted. Just stay on topic.

Moves like this is doing more bad to their infrastructure than good.

I'm not totally sure that is a Nintendo of America decision. I'm not really up to date on my Nintendo knowledge but I think the porting of those games is a Japan decision. Most of those games didn't even sell well in Japan so I can kind of see where they are coming from. However if there is a huge demand for the games this is where Nintendo kind of shot themselves in the foot. If they had a sturdy and reliable online system they could perhaps release them as downloads making it cheaper and less risky to port and available to fans in other regions.

Spoilers

Alright so I just finished the game about 10 minutes or so ago and here are my brief thoughts.

I thought the game was a solid experience, but it wasn't as good as the first two. I hate to jump on the bandwagon because usually I go against the grain, but it's true. At least in my opinion. The first half of the game was a bit slow and while very pretty and interesting, I found myself pushing to finish certain levels. The aiming (as everybody knows) was a bit off and the cover system felt a little weird at times. That might be because I'm fresh off of finishing Gears of War 3 a couple months ago and the cover system in that game in top notch.

The game picked up for me around the shipyard level. I think everyone here stared in amazement when Drake is hanging from the chandelier in the capsized boat. The water against the window in that gorgeous room was an amazing sight. I really enjoyed the game from that point on until the ending. It was good, but it felt a little rushed. I did enjoy the heart to heart moment Sully and Drake had and once again Drake is bouncing between women ;)

Overall I would rank the games Uncharted 2 > Uncharted 1 > Uncharted 3

I have to agree with the other guy on this one, did you actually play the game? The story was probably the strongest part of the game. The environments were indeed beautiful though sometimes repetitive. As for the gameplay, it was a bit shaky at parts but it wasn't atrocious or game wrecking.

The first Alan Wake sold over a million copies, and that's not even counting the digital sales. And there is a huge cult following for the game. I'm not not surprised there is more Alan Wake at all and I'm really fucking glad there is haha.
