So I rented out AC on Friday and it's a really cool game, but there's one thing about it that got me thinking. For those of you that have played it you will know that you play an ex-assassin who's great ancestor was an Assassin during the third crusade around the year 1100-1200AD. I asked my father and he says there was a fraternity of assassins around that time. Anyway, the scientist guy in the game speaks about "Genetic Memory" which by he means that you can have memories of that an ancestor of you had in your genes. Example: If your Dad ever did something worth remembering before you were born, then when you were born you would have that same memory as if it happened to you. Now obviously we cannot remember things that happened to our parent pre-birth, however it could be possible that all it required was some way to remember things you have "forgotten" or is so insignifigant that our brains cannot find this memory that exists. We would have to tap into our brain's memory and (re-activate?) that forgotten memory. I believe there have been ways that people have remembered forgotten things through different means, but is it possible to have "Genetic Memories"?

Also just to add, I'm around half way through the game and so far I think it's kind of pointless to have you play as the ex-assassin with the ancestor who has to go re-live your ancestors experience. It would have been so much more simple to just chuck you into the original assassin's body and have you play as Altair, not the other guy because the parts in between memory blocks just slow the game down. However later in the game there may be a point to it I don't know.

Anyway, discuss your own theory on the matter and really think if having Genetic memories are possible or not.

When I finally played Halo 3 for the first time last year I thought it was boring, but when I got a 360 and rented it I still thought it was boring, probably coz I wasn't used to the gameplay and I was still getting used to using joysticks to aim (I always used to play FPS on my PC) but then when I got the hang of it I found it awesome.

I haven't given an opinion have I? If you actually read my whole post you will see that I gave absolutely no statement on my views of XBL vs PSN because I have never used PSN and I can not give a statement without backing up.

- Free
- Better "Care" for the game servers

- Sony is, for the most part, a fair company. For example, they didn't bribe Rockstar Games to make "The Lost and the Damned" a PS3 exclusive.

We're all aware of how Microsoft would bribe so many companies and such so that their stuff would only run on Windows PC's and we all hate them for it. But you know what? That's why Microsoft is winning. I greatly prefer Mac over Windows but Mac just can't handle what I want to use.

HARDWARE:
- Blu Ray Disks hold a lot more
- Better Graphics capabilities
- Faster Processing/loading/whatever
- Some Frickin' awesome exclusives

They both have exclusives, and I've heard all this before. Halo 3 and Killzone 2, Gears of War and God of War bla bla bla.

I've heard all this before and I never said I wanted to know about hardware, I only care about online. however I admire how you put capabilities in Italics, because it's actually been shown that (I don't know what percentage) multi-platform games have better graphics on 360 because the graphics stuff is easier to code than PS3 so they don't put as much effort in for PS3.

Whenever I ask people on the net about it, pretty much everyone only says "It has a better experience" which honestly means absolutely nothing without explaining what you mean.

I admit, for casual gamers, XBL is better. There's music/video support, plus those dumb avatars to occupy your mom or you kids. But, hardcore gamers don't buy a console to listen to music or watch videos (there's an iPod and your TV for that). They don't enjoy dumb little avatars (there's a Wii for that). Hardcore gamers want to play the games, and they want the best console to do so. They also want the best support, and the best-kept servers to play online. There, the PS3 really comes forward.

Although this may be so, PS3 also has a shit load of stuff unrelating to games. Like internet browsing, Blu Ray DVD's (I've been told by some of my friends they only got PS3 to watch Blu Ray movies) it has all sorts of features I can't remember. But I watched a video on youtube about a guy who has all 3 next gen consoles (thats if Wii counts as next gen) and his fave is the 360, however he actually turns on his PS3 more than his 360, the video is here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYSqP72dg 4A&feature=channel and if you skip to about 2:30 he will explain how he uses it more for stuff like DVD's Podcasts etc. So actually no, the PS3 is not used for games as much as the 360.

So please, if you have played both XBL and PSN, tell me why you think Xbox LIVE has better online, if you haven't played both then shut the fuck up because you don't even know what you're talking about.

And finally, I'd like to say I have some friends who used to be, like you say, "360 Fanboys", who turned their attention to the PS3 when they got tired of the constant crashes, overheating, etc. and saw how amazing the PS3 is.

I hate to say it but you are actually being a fanboy about this. You are upset about what some people are saying about the PS3 and are replying with insults and such, therefor you are the common fanboy we all know too well.

I sometimes use chat in COD4 and although I haven't got Eavesdrop I too think it's useless. We never tell each other what to do or have plans we just chat random stuff. I sometimes tell one guy to guard a door or something when we're protecting an HQ but they ignore me completely.

Doesn't PS3 have an internet browser? I don't understand why MS doesn't put that on the 360. Wii and PS3 already have it, plus Microsoft already makes computers and internet explorer so it should be a cinch for them right?

The Spartan Laser in Halo 3. It kills everyone in a vehicle it shoots instantly, when you see the laser pointed at you you try to dodge it but you can't and when the CPU gets it, you're fucked, they got perfect aim.

Make sure in this one you explain stuff REALLY well. In the last platform game tutorial collab they didn't properly explain hit tests. I had no fucking clue how to use them or anything. So please over explain EVERYTHING for the dumb shits out there.

That's exactly the kind of games I'm looking for, stuff that involves fast movement and acrobatic moves. I actually saw my friend on Xbox 360 playing this game and to me it looked gay, I didn't actually know it was based on Parkour, now I want it lol.

Oh and I found another game that uses a similar movement code that I'm after.

So I'm going to make a new flash game that apparently hasn't been done before. However I'm going to need a shit loaf of help because my AS knowledge is relatively basic. I do have access to use AS3 as I have CS4 but I prefer AS2. The game concept will be kind of a mix of Assassins Creed and N: The way of the Ninja. For those that have not played N, this is the link here.

The game will be similar gameplay to N in the way of movement, by which I mean the running how he slowly gains speed and then slides to a halt, and the wall jumping and such. The way it will be similar to Assassins Creed is how you have to kill a certain target by sneaking about and killing guards. Basically it will be something like this. You will start out somewhere in the level and you will have to kill a certain target. And chances are there will be other enemies you have to kill to get to the target. The enemies will walk on set paths and will have a sort of light thing in front similar to Ultimate Assassin so you can see what they can see. To kill enemies you have to sneak up behind enemies and press a button to kill them. If you go into their line of site they will pause and begin to shoot at you until you go out of their line of site and they go back to walking around. The game will be set in futuristic times so the weapons guards use will be automatic weapons, Sniper Rifles, Rocket Launchers and Lazer guns. Once you manage to reach the target you will have to kill them. Most targets are harmless and will simply cower in fear until you kill them, some might have a basic gun and others will shout out if they see you and make the guards become faster and harder to sneak up on as they will walk faster. You then have to escape to the level exit. If a guard should find the body by walking past, it will shout and make guards faster as well. So once you escape, you win.

I think this game has real potential and is what I've always wanted to play in a flash game.

PLEASE!!!! If a game like this already exists, or something similar give me a link, I don't want to make an already existing game.

Now I am capable of making a basic platform game, however what I'm after is the N style of player movement. So I slowly gain speed as I run and I can wall climb and jump. If anyone here can give me a link to a tutorial that will teach me that style of movement in a platformer, or is possibly willing to teach me through MSN (which I doubt most of you would really have the time or the care to do so) it would be very much appreciated.

I also hate to be a bitch but try to make i a basic easy tutorial. I tend to lose interest in those over complicated unexplained tutorials, however if what you got is all you got, it will be much loved.
