But when people say marijuana is a gateway drug, lol. It totally is.

One day when my dad found a bag of stems i'd been saving to make tea, he told me how he wasn't mad at me and that it was my choice, he was just concerned because it's a gateway drug.

Right when i opened my mouth to argue, i looked back on shit and saw how true it was so i just shut the fuck up.

Just be smart about yer shit.

it isn't a gateway drug. There are just gateway people. I know people who have been smoking for 20+ years and havent touched anything else and i know people who smoked for maybe a year and got into coke.

This guy was in his house, unarmed and the police broke down his door and shot him. He wasn't even suspected of dealing, he was just suspected of smoking it and being a marijuana activist. Where the fuck is the justice for this one?

Dr. Tashkin did a ten year study on the difference between tobacco and marijuana and found no cases connecting marijuana with cancer. Found many cases with ust tobaccoc, but for some reason, those who smoked both there were fewer cases then those who just smoked tobacco.

It shouldn't be anything more then a fine for having marijuana on your person... but it shouldn't be legal either. If marijuana is legalized, tobacco companies will mass produce it, fill it with chemicals, coat it in posions, give us less pot that makes us less high for a shorter amount of time, and charge us 3 times the amount. The price will slowly go up over the years... to the point where we all look back and say, "Remember when a quad was only $40?"

That would suck. I like pot prices now and I enjoy buying it on the streets. It keeps it real.. the prices stay low and the quality stays high. I just don't want to go to jail or have my house raided over it...

Decriminalize it and make it little more then a fine. Caught with pot? $30.00 fine, go about your business. Sounds good to me!

sorry man but you are wayyyy off. They worried when they legalized alcohol that it would be less quality then bootleg alcohol, higher price, and that the underground bars would still be there. But the exact opposite will happen. Look at the quality of medical marijuana. It is some of the best i have ever smoked!!! Super silver haze, bubble gum kush, white widow, all medicinal quality and we would get the same quality as consumers. If the government started messing with it, then they might as well keep it illegal because no one will buy it from them, and go back to their dealers. No the quality will go up and the price will drop because they can start mass producing it. Farms upon famrs will be growing it everywhere and it will be amazing

You wont get cancer, you wont get any negative brain effects, and you certainly wont die.

If you are a dumbass and drive around and smoke in your car you will eventually get caught

If you get high and put off your studies then you will fail in school

Dont make weed a priority in your life and it wont ruin you life. There are no negative physical effets with it, that is all bullshit. The only real harm comes from either the law (which fucking sucks) or from you not putting effort into things. Be smart, then smoke after you are smart

At 2/10/08 01:27 PM, NHT123 wrote: HONG KONG (Reuters) - Smoking a joint is equivalent to 20 cigarettes in terms of lung cancer risk, scientists in New Zealand have found, as they warned of an "epidemic" of lung cancers linked to cannabis.

Studies in the past have demonstrated that cannabis can cause cancer, but few have established a strong link between cannabis use and the actual incidence of lung cancer.

In an article published in the European Respiratory Journal, the scientists said cannabis could be expected to harm the airways more than tobacco as its smoke contained twice the level of carcinogens, such as polyaromatic hydrocarbons, compared with tobacco cigarettes.

The method of smoking also increases the risk, since joints are typically smoked without a proper filter and almost to the very tip, which increases the amount of smoke inhaled. The cannabis smoker inhales more deeply and for longer, facilitating the deposition of carcinogens in the airways.

"Cannabis smokers end up with five times more carbon monoxide in their bloodstream (than tobacco smokers)," team leader Richard Beasley, at the Medical Research Institute of New Zealand, said in a telephone interview.

"There are higher concentrations of carcinogens in cannabis smoke ... what is intriguing to us is there is so little work done on cannabis when there is so much done on tobacco."

The researchers interviewed 79 lung cancer patients and sought to identify the main risk factors for the disease, such as smoking, family history and occupation. The patients were questioned about alcohol and cannabis consumption.

In this high-exposure group, lung cancer risk rose by 5.7 times for patients who smoked more than a joint a day for 10 years, or two joints a day for 5 years, after adjusting for other variables, including cigarette smoking.

"While our study covers a relatively small group, it shows clearly that long-term cannabis smoking increases lung cancer risk," wrote Beaseley.

"Cannabis use could already be responsible for one in 20 lung cancers diagnosed in New Zealand," he added.

well on this argument i would like to say that people can be very successful when it come to marijuana

United States Presidents George Washington and Thomas Jefferson grew hemp, used products made from hemp, and praised the hemp plant in some of their writings. Under the laws written by today's politicians, George Washington and Thomas Jefferson would be considered a threat to society--they would be arrested and thrown in prison for the felony crime of growing plants.

"What are you doing tonight?"

It's fucking retarded kids like this that give people who actually enjoy cannabis a bad name. I don't have any problem with you being baked for class, hell i even enjoy going to a class high every once and a while. It's when you show that much fucking disrespect towards your school and the law when people get pissed. smoking in your bathroom? look just make some brownies with some buddies, meet over at someone's house like a half hour before school, eat them, and be blazed for the rest of the day. Or if you can't find a place to make them, just make some tea out of it. Get a tea ball (it's kike a ball of mesh wire) put maybe a gram to 2 grams of cannabis in there, boil some milk, and put the tea ball into the milk and let the cannabis get strained. Then add the milk to anything (coffee, cereal, mac and cheese, be creative) and enjoy the high. Smoking isn't the only way to enjoy cannabis

to me smoking is always better in good company. Make sure you know/ can trust the people you are smoking with because nothing is worse than a person who kills your buzz. But then again, if you're about to watch an hour of family guy by yourself, i don't mind loading up a bong a tearing it apart. Marijuana is the most widely used illegal substance in the world today.

yeah, at one time it was alcohol in the 20's

Its use is also the most controversial. With legalization efforts underway, it is important to have the facts.

Marijuana is made from the plant cannabis sativa, a plant that grows wild (and is also cultivated indoors and out) throughout many regions. Most of the marijuana used in the United States comes from sources in the U.S., Mexico ("Mexican Red/Brown"), and Canada ("BC Bud").
Marijuana consists of the buds, leaves, and resin of the cannabis plant. The stalks and sterilized seeds are considered "hemp."
The plant, cannabis sativa, contains chemicals called "cannabinoids." THC (delta-9-tetrhydrocannabinol) is the cannabinoids believed to be responsible for the psychoactive effects of cannabis.
THC can be found in all parts of the cannabis plant, including hemp. This is why hemp is regulated carefully--some hemp products such as clothing, rope, yarn, lotion and soap are legal products because they do not cause THC to enter the human body.
"While most of the THC in cannabis plants is concentrated in the marijuana, all parts of the plant, including hemp, have been found to contain THC. The existence of THC in hemp is significant because THC, like marijuana, is a schedule I controlled substance."
"There are no FDA-approved medications that are smoked. For one thing, smoking is generally a poor way to deliver medicine. It is difficult to administer safe, regulated dosages of medicines in smoked form. Secondly, the harmful chemicals and carcinogens that are byproducts of smoking create entirely new health problems. : There are four times the level of tar in a marijuana cigarette, for example, than in a tobacco cigarette."
"Smoking marijuana may increase the risk of cancer more than smoking tobacco. Marijuana smoke contains 50% to 70% more carcinogenic hydrocarbons than does tobacco smoke. It also produces high levels of an enzyme that converts certain hydrocarbons into their carcinogenic form--levels that may accelerate the changes that ultimately produce malignant cells." (Source: NIDA)

sounds like instead of giving you cancer it does the exact opposite. Wow weed a cure for cancer? no way!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJmQ16cGB HU

:O thats awesome

The majority of marijuana is smoked, although some users ingest it orally (added to brownies, cookies, etc.). Marijuana is usually smoked in the form of loosely rolled cigarettes called "joints," hollowed out commercial cigars called "blunts," smoked in pipes or bongs. Joints and blunts are sometimes laced with a number of adulterants including PCP, cocaine and embalming fluid (a chemical traditionally used to preserve dead bodies)--resulting in a wide range of effects
STREET TERMS for marijuana include pot, weed, grass, bud, dope and hydro.
SHORT TERM EFFECTS of marijuana use include impaired short-term memory, impaired concentration, attention, and judgment; impaired coordination and balance, increased heart rate, blood shot or red eyes, dry mouth and increased appetite (the "munchies").

Ive taken tests, driven, debated with teachers in class, and have done many things high. Unlike you, you will never get to experience these things so in your face.

* Occasional effects, especially with long term use, include anxiety, panic, and paranoia.

once every minute someone gets busted for possession and once every 10 someone gets busted for possession with intent to sell. You wonder why we are paranoid?

LONG TERM EFFECTS of marijuana use include addiction (psychological), paranoia, persistent anxiety, impaired learning skills and memory difficulties.

I know people who have smoked for more than 40 years and never seen it

MEDICAL COMPLICATIONS associated with marijuana use include an increased risk of chronic cough, bronchitis, and emphysema; increased risk of cancer of the head, neck, and lungs; a decrease in testosterone levels and lower sperm counts for men and an increase in testosterone levels for women and increased risk of infertility.

An increased risk? Oh no! hmm lets see that would mean that over time diseases would develop, so why aren't there all these people coming in with marijuana related diseases? wait i already said that earlier

* Within a few minutes after inhaling marijuana smoke, an individual's heart begins beating more rapidly, the bronchial passages relax and become enlarged, and blood vessels in the eyes expand, making the eyes look red. The heart rate, normally 70 to 80 beats per minute, may increase by 20 to 50 beats per minute or, in some cases, even double. This effect can be greater if other drugs are taken with marijuana.

"waring if you run it may increase your heart rate"

Studies show that approximately 6 to 11 percent of fatal accident victims test positive for THC. In many of these cases, alcohol is detected as well. In a study conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a moderate dose of marijuana alone was shown to impair driving performance; however, the effects of even a low dose of marijuana combined with alcohol were markedly greater than for either drug alone. Driving indices measured included reaction time, visual search frequency (driver checking side streets), and the ability to perceive and/or respond to changes in the relative velocity of other vehicles.

once again i used this one but i still like it

http://jalopnik.com/cars/reefer-madness/
quentin-willsons-marijuana-road-test-286 520.php

* Cancer of the respiratory tract and lungs may also be promoted by marijuana smoke. A study comparing 173 cancer patients and 176 healthy individuals produced strong evidence that smoking marijuana increases the likelihood of developing cancer of the head or neck, and that the more marijuana smoked, the greater the increase. A statistical analysis of the data suggested that marijuana smoking doubled or tripled the risk of these cancers.
* Marijuana has the potential to promote cancer of the lungs and other parts of the respiratory tract because it contains irritants and carcinogens.42 In fact, marijuana smoke contains 50 percent to 70 percent more carcinogenic hydrocarbons than does tobacco smoke.43 It also produces high levels of an enzyme that converts certain hydrocarbons into their carcinogenic form, levels that may accelerate the changes that ultimately produce malignant cells.44 Marijuana users usually inhale more deeply and hold their breath longer than tobacco smokers do, which increases the lungs' exposure to carcinogenic smoke. These facts suggest that, puff for puff, smoking marijuana may increase the risk of cancer more than smoking tobacco does.

you already tried that argument. besides what if we vaporize it or bake it. That doesn't effect the lungs at all.

Anyone else?
