By the way - it is meant to be white to contrast on the purple.

looks pretty decent. you should be able to do a lot with it just by changing the color of it.

I agree that computer art is still art, but at least by completely ruling out computer art, it ensures that if you want to contribute to this topic, people have to actually walk away from the computer and draw something, rather than just scribble something down in MS paint and then slap it up here.

Plus, as an 'old fashioned' artist, I find it refreshing to be able to look at other people's 'old fashioned art' rather than looking at computer art all the time.

There's nothing wrong with computer art, don't get me wrong, I just enjoy looking at the old-school 'with my own two hands' type of art a little bit more.

i am a traditional artist myself, but here of late i have been trying to branch into digital work. I have to tell you it is just as complicated to learn how to digital draw as it is to draw on paper. I start design 1 in january so it will be interesting to see if they can teach this old dog some new tricks. I admire people who can do digital art, like JohanL and a fw other choice newgrounders.

Here is a mixed media piece i did in highschool. It is color pencil and pen. critic it if you would like, i know the nose is jacked up but back then i was still struggling with anatomy.

Response to: Nice Picture.. Click Me! Posted November 19th, 2007 in Art

the second version looks better than the first.. now just put the left arm (fixed of course) and the background back on there.

Response to: My custom GH faceplate Posted November 19th, 2007 in Art

the character sketch looks good, i just hope there is some background scenery added to give it some flare.

Response to: Abstract? Posted November 19th, 2007 in Art

the mountain/scenery pictures look good.. although it looks like you just took a moutain range pic... made it black and white and then used posterize in photoshop a few times to get it "out of focus". of curse you could have done the same thing in flash with the trace bitmap feature and got the same effect. im not saying this is what you did im just throwing it out there.

awesome. completely awesome.
so you cut the elements out of griptape?

yes i drew the four mana elements on the back side of the griptape and then cut them out with an exacto knife. each one took me about 30 minutes to do because the griptape doesnt cut too good with a knife so small.

Response to: My Watercolor Posted November 17th, 2007 in Art

i did some watercolor a long time ago. i actually only have 1 piece that turned out supurb and after that i couldnt get any other piece to work right. your piece is nice, it looks like though that some of the brush work is a little heavy handed. keep honing your skill and you will get better.

Response to: Design a skate deck Posted November 17th, 2007 in Art

Here is one i did a few years ago. here are a couple of details.

The card images are actual magic cards. the center logo is hand drawn and painted. The grey stripe around the border is automotive pinstripping. the cards are protected by 5 coats of clear shelac (? spelling)
The top of the deck is hand drawn and painted. The Wizards of the coast logo glows in the dark.
The five mana colors are cut from deck tape. the magic name was airbrushed metallic purple. Also you can see my signature at the bottom of the deck.

I did this because i was completely bored. The deck soct me 26 dollars. the deck of magic cards was 30 dollars. the deck tape was 50 dollars ( i baught 6 colors full deck size). This project took me about 3 days to complete. This is one of 4 different skatedecks i have completed.

do you always use the same hair style. i swear that same hair is on everything.

i think you need to try this. I think it will help you better than everyone jumping down your throat. Practice, practice and post something when it becomes totally opposite of what you have ben posting.
