Response to: Street Fighter Or Mortal Combat Posted April 7th, 2009 in Video Games

Street Fighter for sure, man. All Moral Kombat's got is blood. But we're not talking about Mortal Kombat are we?, No, we're talking about Mortal Combat. Well, whatever the hell that is, get Street Fighter instead.

Also, don't let our votes make your decision. Go with what your heart says. (Gosh, that sounded corny.)

Is this as2 or as3? Are you using external .as files?

If the code is attached to a movieClip, just copy the movieClip over.

If it's attached to a frame, copy and paste the frame.

You know how when you used AS, the small "a" symbol appears above the the keyframe? Well, I don't see that at all. Also, I'm using AS2, without any external files.
Maybe I should just copy and paste the individual frames and see if that works.

Preloader Problem! Posted April 5th, 2009 in Game Development

Coo-ee, fellow flashimators,

I seem to be having a problem lately. You see, I just recently made a nice preloader, with a nice loading bar and play button. It's all ActionScripted and ready to go. The only thing that seems to stand in my way is how to implement it into my flashies. You see, I simply want to use the same preloader in all my flashes, but I can't seem to. If I copy & paste, the AS doesn't show up! What should I do?

Response to: xbox 360 or Wii?! Posted April 5th, 2009 in Video Games

It really depends on what you're looking four. If you're a button-masher, go with 360. If you have regular arm spasms, go with the Wii.

That one? It was so ofensive.

It sorta depends on your viewpoint. I, for one, was quite insulted. It labeled meat-eaters at cold blooded killers, pretty much. They showed us gruesome stories of how the turkeys were slaughtered and stuff. I like the game though.

Note: For those who don't know what we're talking about, here's the game:

It's probably something to copy the Wii's Mii System and the Next XBox Experience. If it isn't that, it's probably going to have some new peripheral, like some external plug-in thing.

Flash Cs3 Drawing Objects? Posted March 29th, 2009 in Game Development

Coo-ee, fellow Flashimators,

Hey, guys! I recently just got Adobe CS3 (behind the rest of the world), and I'm already facing problems with Flash. You see, with the new Flash, almost everything I draw, turns into something called a "drawing object," which is sorta like a movie clip, but much more of a pain in the a**. Other times, I don't have the whole drawing object thing! What conditions does it have to be under in order to make drawing objects!

Also, how do you make them turn into basic vector shapes?

Sincerely,
Sir5000

Response to: Art forum 'tech support' thread! Posted March 27th, 2009 in Art

Coo-ee, fellow artists!

Hey, guys! I got a little GIF problem, so I'm gonna need a little help. You see, my method for animating with GIFS is to animate it in Photoshop, then transfer it to ImageReady to save it as an optimized animated GIF.

That was with CS2. I recently just got CS3 (behind the rest of the world), and now I'm struggling with it. I can't use the same technique because ImageReady is nonexistent in CS3! I can't save it as a GIF in Photoshop or else it'll be static!

What do I do?

Cs3 Help! Posted March 27th, 2009 in Art

Coo-ee, fellow artists!

Hey guys! I just got CS3 installed on my computer, behind the rest of the world! Now, I'm faced with a problem that has never ever come upon me during my CS2 era!

My problem is: HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO MAKE AN ANIMATED GIF WITHOUT IMAGEREADY?!?!

In CS2, the only way to save an optimized animated GIF was to port my file to ImageReady, but now, CS3 doesn't come with ImageReady! What do I do? Animating it with Flash is only a last resort...

So you're immediately calling it "not a console" simply because it has okay graphics and family-friendly games? Dude, seriously. Anything that can play games is a "video game console." You can play games on the Wii, so it's a console.

Suck it up.

Flash Player Bug Posted March 19th, 2009 in Game Development

Coo-ee, fellow irate Flash players!

I'm not sure if everybody has this problem, but my Flash player is going all wonky. On most sites like Newgrounds, the sites don't recognize my flash, and yet on a select few sites, it sees my flash as "Adobe Flash Player 10!"

So what in the bloody hell is going on? I'm going bonkers just looking at this! (No, I'm not playing with stereotypical TV British people talk)

Please Help!

Thanks for the info, but I already knew this. All I need to know is how to do sharps and flats.
