Ok I used to play it 4ish hours a week but not so much now.
anyways, if you're actually asking and not just raging, I'll give you my opinion.

It appeals to people because it gives a 100% free will, creative outlet for people. You can build whatever you want, make your story whatever you want, live whatever life you want.

Minecraft appeals to people because it imagination based. And our imaginations are pretty kickass bro.
