Wow, oldie members coming back from absence? That's awesome. I know there's still many artists I have not listened to around here on NG, and I intend on getting around to it. For now, I sort of keep up with those in my favorites.

Hello to those who have returned! I haven't been around here a year, but it's been a blast making various tunes of various moods and styles...

I'm also popping in just to say hi and Happy Holidays to everyone. It's just been a while since I last visited the Lounge. I've been really busy working at my bookstore, music stuff, and some other things.

As long as I don't overload on myself, I'm good! :)

As a gay guy, I'm required to say that I like Rent.

Rent is my second most favorite musical of all time. :D I first learned some of the songs in my senior year musical theatre class. Fun times. A year or so later I see the movie version. Later after that I saw the last Broadway showing on DVD--and I love that so much!

What I like more than Rent is Seussical the Musical. The songs, the colorful characters... It's great. It's just funny, dramatic, and just overall a good time.

I don't think I have one I hate, but there have definitely been some I like a lot. Others include The Sound of Music, The King and I, Music Man, Grease, and Cats.

Response to: Is being single forever a good idea Posted 1 month ago in General

You know what? Here's my five cents; relationships aren't for everyone.

As people can be social, some can also be crazy. Some have issues that we don't want to be involved with.

It's your life, and your choice if you want to keep on with the friends with benefits direction, but if you ever do seek genuine companionship, here's hoping it will be someone that you can relax and feel like yourself around.

I say this from my own experience. I never really dated anybody, but there's this one guy I used to know who was in love with me, but I couldn't love him back. Why? Because I could not be comfortable around him. Not only was he too forward for me to handle, but our culture backgrounds growing up on different continents was another part of it. I could barely relate to him at all.

I honestly do not mind being single. If for the rest of my life, then oh well. I'm just not going to be with someone who causes me to feel stress or discomfort.

Haha, I'm glad you have a new favorite word! Even custom meeples are made, by the way. One of my friends at the meetup group hopes to buy a big yellow one, lol. We've also yet to see the smaller custom ones he's already ordered for.

I believe you can find out more through Google Search to the Kickstarter page(s).

The whole song itself is far from complete. I started on putting together the music arrangement. I'm thinking about changing some of the lyrics (which I will be singing) a bit to fit to the rhythm I'm putting together. If this all comes together really well, I might start doing more music stuff for favorite tabletop games.

Response to: Do you still feel like a kid? Posted October 28th, 2014 in General

I say it's good and fine to feel very young at heart, though it's important to live responsibly as an adult. I know I still have my toy dinos and some stuffed animals but they're just collector items to me. There are just some things you just can't part with!

I know I sure as hell don't feel old, yet I learned from people over the past few years. I have my own bookstore business, and I sell at really fair prices, cheaper than what you'd buy at Wal-Mart. I also sell garden statues, board games, movies and CDs. There are people who have tried to sway me to make a deal that's not very profitable for me. I have to tell them no, politely of course.

Otherwise I'd just be walked over and not do so good being the owner and my own boss at my own business. >.>

Other times? I think it's okay to feel excited or happy, or even content like a kid. There's nothing wrong about that!

Hi WNG! How are you guys and gals? Come up with any interesting writings lately?

I managed to write a new poem. I have lyrics for a fun, happy sounding song project I'm going to put a lot of focus into in the near future. :D I will be singing once I get the actual music stuff figured out.

As for writing something of a spooky poem, I'll think about that and give it a try sometime soon, hopefully before Halloween!

"Caracassonne Overview" Song Lyrics Posted October 25th, 2014 in Writing

I do try to be active, WNG, and review actual songs, as well as critique a little on what others write. I'm not intending to flake out at all. I tend to be very busy with things sometimes.

I was also having trouble trying to get back into poetry writing. It's been at least a year since the last time I wrote any at all, and I managed to think to myself at some point, "Why not write about one of the various board games I've played a dozen times?" XD This will be a fun and cute song to put together. I got a bit of a head start on it already, by coming up with cool samples to use, along with percussion one shots and FX I recorded. I have this awesome Mortal Kombat remix I want to finish very much, yet little by little when I'm not working on that I'm coming up with neat ideas on how I want the music itself to sound...

I love playing board/tabletop games with my mom and our friends on Friday nights. We've been a meetup group for over six years now. I don't know if I'll write more about the other games I've played, but at least Caracassonne is easy for me to write about! It's a start anyway.

Caracassonne Overview

Build and claim, expand and take
Points for roads, cities
And cloisters you make
Be watchful of what your opponents do
There might be something beneficial for you
Within open fields around cities completed
Place your farmers in them, or be defeated
Farms are essential in final scoring
Partially complex yet very interesting

Different ways to score and win
You may ask which one is best
Go try the various strategies
Put them all to the test

Caracassonne, Caracassonne
That is the name
You and your chosen group of meeples
Should join in with the other peoples
And play this game

There are different expansions
Also to mention stand alone versions
There’s little to none in limitation
Apply a bit of your imagination

Towers, a princess, a dragon, rivers
Bridges, tunnels, guilders, traders
Though I haven’t tried them all
Hunters and Gatherers is my favorite one
Set in prehistoric times, I find it so much fun

Never gets boring, never gets old
No wonder why it’s internationally sold!
There’s even a version of it to play online
Though the original game provides more of a good time

Caracassonne, Caracassonne
That is the name
You and your chosen group of meeples
Should join in with the other peoples
And play this game

A submissive side only I can see
A gentle caress to guide my wandering spirit
A closed fist to punish those who deserve it
Eyes that tell of a time long since past
A mind that is smart and fast
A soul of fire to warm my heart on dark days
A heart of a child and best friend so we can play
A scent to relax and enjoy throughout the night
All this in a woman and I don't mind if she bites

I can't really think up a good title for this, but it is a nice poem. Interesting. When I was first reading this I thought,"cool, a poem about wolves", and then there's that twist in the final line that definitely made me think otherwise.

I agree with what's already said. You can make some improvements here, to have it written out better. Some different word changes, yeah. Good piece so far though. :)

Response to: Killer Potatoes Posted October 25th, 2014 in Writing

My first thought on seeing the title of the subject line was, "Killer Potatoes? Not the Killer Tomatoes?" Gosh, does anyone else remember that old cartoon? I even remember some of the theme song from it too.

Oh, haha, now I'm also thinking of this silly musical number from this play I saw twice called called Tales of Terror at Nightmare High School. There was a song titled "Spudzilla".

The chorus to that goes like this:
(Spudzilla!) The mashed potatoes
(Spudzilla!) Meaner than those killer tomatoes
(Spudzilla!) What are we gonna do?
He's only got eyes for you!

Hey, I liked this poem You wrote this well. The story within it was dark, yet funny in places. You kept up with the rhyming scheme nicely.

Response to: "My Last Night on Earth" Posted October 25th, 2014 in Writing

Aww, this was a very moving and beautiful poem, even though its sad. The flow of this is very well written. If you want to do art to go with this, go for it! I'd like to see that.

It hurts a lot when we lose pets we grew up with. I know I cried hard the night my mom and I had to take the cat I grew up with to the vet to be put down--she was just getting really old and not getting any better from feline leukemia.

May Angel forever rest in peace.

Response to: Short Film Idea Posted October 25th, 2014 in Writing

This plot of yours reminds me a little of the Matrix movie trilogy. Interesting take on this concept. I think you can go far on this project--maybe even make it longer than a short film--if you apply more details to the characters and plot. It'll take time in writing a great script, but if you've got the time and determination as well as motivation, then go for it!

I am interested to see this short film. What you've come up with so far looks really cool, suspenseful, and intense! You just need to work more on fleshing it out, as the others have said.

Response to: Dungeon Domme special Posted October 25th, 2014 in Writing

This seems like a very dark, and twisted plot/character bio. I'm not so sure I'd read more about this. You might want to think over your plot and this character and change things. That's my suggestion. What's important in sharing your written works around others is to come up with a character people can relate to, and care about. If she's so bad, wouldn't it be better to do a story in which she goes through the process of becoming a better person, instead of doing crime through the slavery stuff?

Though, I wish you luck, if that route is something you really want to go towards.

Is it rude to be offended if someone likes your worst bit of creativity you have done? I mean like when especially you have done way cooler and better things (the song she wants is a terrible hip hop song I did on an iPad when I have written other better songs) and still they settle on it.
I totally respect their opinion on what music they dig but I feel like whoever does hear it is let down because I know I can write better, pls help

I don't think it's rude. Here's my honest two cents.

I've been through both perspectives on this subject. I've heard someone's older stuff that's impressed me to which he believes is terrible, but the track inspired me (not just impressed me) to do my own original take of what the artist did. Maybe, just maybe, this hip hop oldie of yours inspires your friend for something, to figure out on how to improve her talents. It's sort of cool when you think about it that way.

I've gotten some good feedback on some of my much older stuff I'm not very fond of, and I don't feel bad about it at all. I'd be very surprised if someone got inspired or really liked my most awful track, in which I know I went overboard with. Just surprised. I may not like it at all now, yet I also wouldn't have that person's hearing. I have my own.

Everyone has different tastes of music, or different ears for music at least. It's just part of who we are as individuals. Some people are just weird, even. Sure, it may not be something you find not so great anymore as how you felt about it way back when, but you're still being heard regardless, in a positive light. Right? It may not make you any money or get you well recognized, if that's what you are hoping to achieve with your music, but it's not TOO bad. It could be worse!

Redoing the old track at least a little isn't at all a bad idea, by the way. If it will help you feel better about this, then give it a try.

I suggest you look into getting the Audacity software. You could record some of what you want to use and do your own editing! You can make your own homemade samples too, as long as you have a good microphone!

It's easy to use, and I find it fun experimenting what I've been able to record through it. It's FREE to download. Google search for it!

It helped me test out my commission form, and Excel spreadsheet formatting, and composing it will help me stick with a mood, genre, and specific topics, even if they are vague. The person did not fill out the personality, scene boxes. But I guess that gives me more creative freedom to compose my music.

This also might get me back into music, as I have been slacking, and busy with other problems. Music requires energy, and a collected mind.

That sounds like fun! I honestly don't know when I'll try that out. I don't think I've gotten good enough yet. I'm getting there though!

Hi all. Who around here has checked out Harmony of Heroes recently? Video game remixes are so fun. I've finished listening to all the Mario tracks earlier this week. (Some I ended up keeping to hear again and again whenever. :D) Just got started on listening to the Zelda section. All in all, what I've heard so far is amazing!

I just got into video game remixing myself, actually. I've been putting in a lot of effort and time on this one project, a remix of an old game and movie theme I'm sure many of you on here are familiar with; the Mortal Kombat Techno Syndrome. It's been really exciting. This is a very challenging one for a first game remix indeed, yet little by little I'm getting parts done! I'm so looking forward to sharing once I manage to get the track all finished. 8D

That's just one reason why I've been away from the Lounge a while. The other was due internet connection problems. Ick, I'm very glad that's been over now.
