Topic: Which Scores Better?

Forum: Flash

Yeah... no, no. I'm no newb motherfucker that just wants to throw some shit together and hope it works.

Without giving too much away - it's an interactive 'presentation' of sorts (a kind of interactive Flash). It's "How to Make ______" (the underline is my little secret). The song is kinda a techno beat (a little lite musical thingy) that just kinda sounds good with the 'Presentation'.

My voice is a recording of things like - the steps to make _____, the ingredients needed to make ________ - and my voice goes along with the slides, I have a recording for each "Step" (or slide).

If you get what I'm saying...

If I submit a movie to the portal - which will score better :

- A Flash (mainly just slides) with voice-over audio (my voice, cheap ass mic)
> The audio sounds mediocre - kinda crackly, kinda crappy, but bearable - you can hear what I'm saying and you don't cringe

OR

- A movie with just a song that goes with the slides... The song sounds great.

So which would ya'll like better?

Books are great ;-), using Google is even easier... And it's free.

In all seriousness though - I'll back Snubby up. The best way to learn is tutorials, examples, practice, and application. If you can't afford an A.S. book there are literally HUNDREDS of tutorials online. I'll also help you a little when and if I can. In all reality, learning from a book or online tutorial is the only really good way to gain true experience...

Email me or message me on AIM (JonPulliam is my sn) if you want person-to-person help.

Once you 'Convert to Symbol' and edit the states - you can go back to the main stage (the keyframe your new button is in). Click the button then open the Actions box and edite from there... Did I answer?

Can anybody tell me what the legal (copyright) laws or rules are regarding my use of images from Newgrounds in a... Negrounds Flash. Can I use 'Print Screens' from various Newgrounds Flash cartoons and games as long as I give the author credit? Can I use the NG tank, NG slogans and other related logos as long as I represent them as Newgrounds material? Or do I need like 'Prior written consent... yada yada."

I am making a Flash about Newgrounds - kinda. So in terms of using those things and other material on NG (quotes from the BBS, etc) what am I and am I not allowed to partake in?

Serious replies only?

Topic: Help me buy a knife.

Posted: 03/08/06 05:36 PM

Forum: General

At 3/8/06 02:05 AM, Monocrom wrote: Kershaw = very good quality and reasonable prices.

In all seriousness, it doesn't get much better than Kershaw.

Knife Forum This thread turned from a discussion about serrated vs non-serrated blades into a discussion about how much Kershaw (Ken Onion especialy) are great knives. I have Kersaw kitchen knives too and they are better than Chicago Cutlery...

Benchmade = Pricey, but excellent quality knives that are worth every penny!

My only experience with Benchmade was a bad one. I bought an $80 model online and used it twice before the tip of the blade bent. Also, it just wasn't impressively sharp out of the box. I had to sharpen it before I could really use it. The hardware is okay, but I wasn't impressed. And don't get on me about "How could you have to sharpen it, blah blah," cause I use my knives harder, longer, and more often than alot of people I know... I'm not a collector or a knife salesman but I've always worked and lived in an environment when a knife is useful all the damn time.

Spyderco = Excellent quality knives, some at very reasonable prices.

Spyderco is okay, but no Sypderco knife will measure up to a Ken Onion. I tried cutting a radiator hose with my friends Spyderco and I had to saw at the motherfucker to get anywhere. That same Spyderco also couldn't cut the rubber stem off a tire patch without having to saw at it. The Ken Onion (still after months of use) cuts through rubber like butter.

I also tried to cut construction paper with a Spyderco knife and it ripped the paper... A Kershaw Ken Onion cuts cardboard and light paper like a razorblade. Also, no Spyderco knife opens quickly enough for my taste. The knife in your picture had a HOLE for a thumbstud, which is kinda clumsy and annoying. Having a knife with an actual thumbstud is nice, no learning curve involved. And the Ken Onion has an assisted-open blade (the fastest anyone I know has ever seen next to a switchblade)...

Spyderco knives are also hard to clean. I got a scuff on a Spyderco knife that never came off... Also, from what I hear it's hard to take apart and put back together. Bah. Additionally, the locking mechanisms can be dangerous on Spydercos. I've heard of more than one person closing a blade without meaning to. If you put your thumb on the shaft while cutting like I sometimes do, or even move your hand weird you can depress the lock release.

The Ken Onion has a locking mechanism below the blade, where it is impossible to close on accident, and the lock is reniforced by the blade and stock of the kinfe, not by a spring and screw like Spyderco. But there is a huge following for Spyderco - they are a great overall knife company.

I still maintain, from tons of experience, the only knife that is truly versatile, completely useful, manufactured best, and generally satisfying is the Ken Onion. I live in Denver and came from Nashville, two places where ALOT of people have nives (hicks and mountain-men). Salesman at my REI, Bass Pro Shops, Wal Mart, and other stores pretty much agree by far the best bang for the buck is Ken Onion.

But it also seems like you are looking for more artsy collectors knives, not a utility folder - like we're talking about. If you want a cute knife to showoff to your friends, just order Bud K catalog. We can talk about Samurai swords, Sci Fi knives, and axes all day but if you really are looking for a great knife to use on a daily basis we're trying to help - not just brag about our collections or post pictures of funny looking knives off Bud K or some other site.

Good luck in your search.

Topic: News, Fear, and Change

Posted: 03/08/06 02:21 AM

Forum: General

Okay NGers, a serious 'rant' brought to you by the ShitMan. I wrote this 21 January 2004 after a long night of hearing a bunch of bullshit about how America sucks, our country sucks, we Americans suck, and so on down the line. I'm sick of constant societal negativity... Here it is - hope someone gets what I have to say...

NEWS, FEAR, AND CHANGE

A plague sweeps this glorious nation. No, the plague that I speak of is not a cancer, not a disease, its not a war against anything, its not obesity, diabetes, or bad breath. This plague is just... fear.

Fear of all the things mentioned above, plus lots more. Too many people in this country are terrified that they are going to get shot on the way to their cars, that they are going to spend more than thirty thousand on some expensive back surgery, or that their children are going to get kidnapped. These worries are truly genuine and some are understandable. The number one advocator of Bad News in this country is of course the news media. Television newscasters make us believe that our country is truly going down the drain and that its people will all die early from some horrible circumstance. Every night the news tells us about serial killers, abortion laws, gay marriage arguments, child kidnappings, homelessness, white collar crime, and the list goes on. Why?

Seriously. In a world, and a country, with so much beauty and so much hope, so much oppurtunity and potential, why bring its people down with a relentless barage of bad news. Sure, occasionally we hear a forty-five second piece on the man who was saved from the flood by the brave rescuer. Nonetheless, our minds are bombarded by images and thoughts of horror, death, and destruction. Our minds, our hearts, and our country needs so much better than this.

Remember about two years back that whole summer when a shark-bite-phobia swept the nation? Well in that year the shark bite level was no more than usual. In the first place, your chances of getting hurt at the beach are basically insignificant. Chances are better that you will get in a deadly car wreck on the WAY to the beach. Sometimes it seems that the news media picks the smallest and most unimportant things to broadcast. Here's another example. Remember when you were a child and your mom or dad had to go through your candy at Haloween and wouldn't let you have anything that wasn't pre-packaged? Well there have only been two reported cases of kids being poisoning from Haloween candy - and in both cases it was their parents who did it. (Thanks to Bowling for Columbine)

What we rarely hear about is the doctor who saved a baby's life in surgery, or the man who stopped on the side of the rode to change the old woman's tire. We hardly ever hear about the teens who volunteer at the retirement home, or the woman who rescued the homeless kitty. America's people - as a whole - are truly awesome. We are kind, honest, loving, capable, and we have a positive, and inevitably good future. Why do we have to be pushed into a pit of negativity everywhere we look. Televisions, newspapers, and magazines set unbelievable standards of living. Most of us will live normal, long, lovely lifes and will have children and fall in love.

If everyone would forget about those few people who are evil, then maybe there would be more love and more community. Hitch-hikers are NOT serial killers and most homeless people are NOT crack addicts. If people would just stop for that man whose thumb is out and give a $5 to that man sitting in shame on the streetside, then this world would be a truly, truly better place. In fact, don't you think... If we could get our people believing in the good in life, believing that everything will be okay, don't you think that we might see an immediate, positive improvement in the living conditions of a majority of Americans? If we start telling the mother on welfare that she and her family will be supported, and that she'll work everything out, then that mother will start making those improvements she needs to so she can change herself. Lets find a reason to start over new and become an unstoppable, united force.

f**k fear, f**k death, forget logic, take chances, and have faith in SOMETHING. You, me, our country, we WILL be fine, regardless of what the news and the entertainers want you to believe. If you die early, I hope you lived the life that you wanted to. But please, if you let these things, the reported societal atrocities, hold you back, you wont reach your ulitmate potential. I'm not scared of anything, not anything. You better believe I swim in the ocean every summer, I eat foods with high carbs and low vitamins, and I drive a hundred on the interstate. I could die tomorrow from one of these horrible, news worthy deaths, but I will die knowing nothing held be back. Please know that we will be fine.

This trend in our news media may only get worse, and it is up to the individual to make a change. Don't be afraid. We, as teens, are setting the standards of living for our future. Lets make things better and more glorious than we have it now, please. For the good of the world, lets work this f**king sh*t out. I know we can, and I know its not worth the hatred, the carlessness, and the fear.

WE can change and become better. Please - let's do it.

An addition to The Things I Hate :

People That Piss Me Off

Warning : This piece contains the word "b**ch" (figuratively used) in excess - pretaining to both sexes. Don't read this if you don't want my filth invading your space.

Famous People That Piss Me Off

*In alphabetical order by last name.*

Sandra Bullock - She's really mean to the press and her fans. She's a younger version of Cher. Mucho b**cho.

George Bush - He's stupid, ugly, and has a wicked God-complex. He thinks he was put on the earth to command his people. He thinks he's a "Messenger". He's not, he's a sh*tty president (see my list of things I hate). Kerry is a bastard too and it's really unfortunate.

Cher - She another one who's terrible to her fans and press. She has a terrible anger proble (worse than mine). She must be Bullock's mom or something. They should both go be miserable together on their own island (Richard Hatch would be a fitting accomplice then).

Simon Cowell - The asshole judge from American Idol - I don't think I have ever seen a meaner person. I know this is probably just an act but it's horrible. Think about how many people's lives he ruins. He cuts people down, hurts them, and he needs to be assasinated. b**ch ass mo' fo'. He is really high up on my PissMeOff list.

Dale Earnheardt Jr. - This dude mooches so much of his daddies death. He totally capitalized on the fact that D.E. Sr was his father. Don't get me wrong Earnheardt is a great racer and his crew is as good but he's still a b**ch for leeching off of his father's demise. I think it would be great if D.E. Jr died in a wreck. Ironic justice.

Eminem - I can't decide if his music is gross and stupid or prodigious. I think his hateful and violent nature is a sad and bad influence on some kids. And I hate him for using his anger as an outlet to make millions. His music may be good in some sense, but it also sucks and this wigger-to-the-max gets WAY more credit than he deserves.

Richard Hatch - The winner of the first Survivor - I have a love-hate "relationship" with Hatch. He won Survivor the first time because he played the game like a genius. He played Survivor All Stars really well too, for that matter. He is an A-S-S-HOLE in every sense of the word and I would beat him senseless if I met him, but I envy his ability to play the game. He is a pig and a b**ch and I hope he dies young with his hand down Ryan Seacrest's pants.

Judge Judy - I think this a stupid concept for a show and I think the woman is a b**ch. She treats the people she doesn't believe like total crap, and her rulings are bogused and biased. I think she's a sexist and a terrible judge.

Ryan Seacrest - The host of American Idol - Metrosexual in his prime, this guy is just too jubilant for me. He's not a bad "talent" (as they say in the industry) but he's just too bouncy - he isn't a dude in my book. I don't dislike him because he acts gay, I dislike him because I think he is fake and way too smiley.

Jessica Simpson - Stupid as charged. I hate stupid people and I think Jessica Simpson is one vain b**ch. She's selfish, immature, and... just so f**king stupid.

O.J. Simpson - Guilty as charged. The fact that this guy was some kids' role model and he went and chopped up his girlfriend. Then he used his fortune that he made from these kids to buy the jury's verdict. f**k head.

Martha Stewart - This b**ch has her hand in some money laundering and has NO remorse. She goes through her trial without ever showing sorrow. No apologies to the fans she dissapointed (of which I have never been) and just bitterness on that wrinkled-soon-to-be-prison-b**ch face. Then she'll get out of the pen (where she'll sleep on a queen sized cot) and write a book and make another billion. White collar crime is for sh*theads.

Justin Timberlake - See the beginning of this thread "The Things I Hate"

LOL You really can tell how old this is...

The Things I Hate

List was made as I thought of them. Not in any order.

Deserts

(like the Sahara, not like sundaes) - Why god do these things exist? And I am not asking for a scientific explanation. They are dry, sandy, and a waste of space. Someone fix this problem.

Justin Timberlake

I hate the image, the attitude, and the music. If I want a love song I'll listen to Al Green or one of the 600 other people this jackass and his group of bumf**ks were willing to rip off. Wardrobe malfunction my asshole. Nuff’ said.

Obnoxious rich people

Okay. Spend your life complaining about your life and how you only got a BMW when you wanted a Bentley. I’m a much happier person working 50 hours a week at T.G.I. Friday’s and driving my Saturn Vue. What you own ends up owning you.

Update : Hey 'Emos' - you guys aren't even real humans! I hate ya'll too. I wont even waste my time.

Porcupines

Another thing I question the existence of. *Shudder* I’ve hated porcupines since the movie Homeward Bound

The Master of Disguise

Worst. Movie. Ever.

Land Rovers

10 miles per gallon, ugly as hell, and $50,000. Why do you need one unless you plan on spending your life on an African Safari (in which case you should get a Hummer - and no not a f**king H2 ugly woman car *another shudder here*).

Pokemon

Not only has this sh*t been beaten into the ground, but it gives little Chinese kids seizures. This can’t be okay.

Wiggers

Also known as white guys who wanna‘ be black, this “social” group is the worst. Unless you grew up in the ghetto or live with parents who teach that bullsh*t to you then you need to drop the act. You aren’t cool or hip. You are white. Eminem can pull it off but look at his background dude. So unless you meet one of the prerequisites you need to get rid of your FUBU wardrobe and stop trying to be someone you’re not. It’s pathetic.

Websites that have “Under Construction” signs

Isn’t a website always under construction? Get that sh*t off your website. Unless someone gets injured by a falling piece of code, you don’t need a god damned Under Construction sign. They are obtrusive and unprofessional. Drop the sign you amateur.

Pooper Scoopers

God. A dog takes a sh*t on your lawn. Walk around it. For f**ks sake people when did we get so vain that dog sh*t became a disgusting thing? He poops in your house or on a sidewalk, yeah then maybe we clean it up. But in the grass out of people’s way, come on. You don’t like it, ignore it. “Ooh it’s common decency.” Yeah and so is flushing the toilet after you use a public restroom. Please, I see more human sh*t in public restrooms in a day than I have seen dog sh*t in my entire life. And you don’t see schools saying “Flush your sh*t or you get kicked out”, like apartment complexes and park systems say “Pick up your dog’s feces or go bye bye”.

Golf

What a selfish, elitist sport. You realize golf courses take up more space in the U.S. than public park systems? We spend more money a year (as a country) on golf course creation and maintenance then we do on programs for our homeless people. God. You should get one golf course per 100,000 people in your state. Take that extra room and make apartments for the homeless. And then the rich people and golfers will complain about their lack of playing space after just yesterday telling the United Way to stop calling after they asked for a donation. Golf is for rich people who generally can’t play any other sports. Please people stick to tennis and croquet. (Thanks for the inspiration George Carlin)

America’s involvement in Iraq

Now is when we get into the touchy stuff. Our country needs to stop worrying so much about every other f**king race of people and we need to focus on ourselves. In the almost 18 years I’ve been alive there has never been a president that hasn’t used the powerful American government to stick a fabled nose in everyone else’s business. Yeah September 11th was a tragedy but since then we have killed more Afghani civilians than Americans were killed on 9/11. We got our revenge and it was justified. I hope women and children died over there. I hope families were torn apart and lives were ruined. We got attacked because of our image, and we just enforced it by sending the military in to bomb the sh*t out of Afghanistan and Iraq. I respect the military and what they do, in fact I may be a Ranger in a couple of years, but I hate the decisions our government makes. But we got our damned revenge, its time to get out of there and rebuild what has been broken in the U.S. We have homelessness (see above), a shaking economy, a flawed education system, a much weaker health care system. We’ve got serial killers, pollution, racial profiling, immigration problems. Christ every other country will be fine. Stop trying to prove how big your penis is and show us how much you care about our country.

Anal rape

I can’t imagine how much this must hurt.

Splinters

When I was 14 I got a splinter the size of a pinky nail in the bottom of my right big toe. I had to have it surgically removed and I still have that b**ch of a splinter in a bag in my room. Splinters shouldn’t exist.

Now my undefined list of hated things...

Paper Cuts

Sunburn

Airline Food

Mildew

Static Shock

Spiders

Partial facial paralysis

Fat people without a glandular disorder

Cattle stampedes

Dry Rot

Hepatitis

Birth defects

Migraines

Obscene phone calls

The coming of Christ

and STUPID PEOPLE.

A few more things about the Ken Onion for your information, sorry to repost. The hardwars is incredibly solid. It comes with a pocket clip that never bends or comes loose, EVER. It stays tightly clipped in any pocket or place you clip it. This is the only knife that I have owned this long where NOTHING has come loose or bent or dulled. Looks wise its a little on the ordinary side, but when you see it open for the first time, you'll understand.

Also, this knife is a perfect weight. I dropped it in light river rapids a few months ago and it didn't get swept away - it sank to the bottom so I could retrieve it. It's not heavy enough to be a burden, though - at all. The only small problem is the handle is quite heavier than the blade, but that doesn't really matter. When you sharpen it, BE CAREFUL cause you can over sharpen it and ruin the blade - it sharpens QUICkLY.

Also, you can shave with it if you really need to.

I was in the Boy Scouts (DORK! Shutup.) I was a mechanic, I spend ALOT of time outdoors, and I have lots of other things that make it necessary for me to have a dependable "pocket knife" on a daily basis.

I'm 19 and I've probably been through about 20 knives. I owned two buck knives, a Smith and Wesson Special Forces folder, a SWAT knife, several BudK generic knives, and so on. For a while it seemed I was destined to go through one knife every few months (lost 'em, broke 'em, dulled 'em, whatever).

The three best knife brands, within the scope of my experience, are Gerber, Columbia River (or CRKT), and Kershaw.

I've owned at least two knives of all three of the above brands.

- Gerber Fast Draw : Mine was black with a silver blade (not serrated). I payed $50 for it at REI in Nashville. I LOVED it at first. There is a button on the middle of the handle that ejects the blade. It came razor sharp out of the box, and it seemed sturdy. A few weeks later after HEAVY use, the button stuck sometimes when it was depressed, preventing me from closing the blade without fixing the damn button first. Screws also came loose from the blade and made it wobble a little. Rating : 7/10

- CRKT M16Z : Also $50 at REI. Also black handle, silver blade (this one was half-serrated). One of the nice things about this knife is its powerful and light. I couldn't even feel it in my pocket. It's cool looking too. This knife has two different ways to open the blade, and it opens kinda quickly. The blade is moderately sharp out of the box but could be sharpened, depending on what you need it for. The M16 lasted a long time, almost 6 months. I dropped it several times and used the hell out of it. The hardware, screws, etc, all hung in there - this was a pretty good knife. Rating : 8/10

I SUGGEST YOU BUY

- Kershaw Ken Onion : Mine was $40 at Wal Mart and was black handle, silver blad, half serrated. This knife is incredible. It has an easy-open blade, it may as well be a switchblade. If you so much as TOUCH the thumbstud, the blade rockets out of the handle. You can also flick your wrist and the blade will eject, you don't even need to use the thumbstud. And the blade will always open that quickly, it really never needs oiled or anything. The blade edge is the sharpest I've ever used out of the box. It can cut through aluminum sheeting, radiator hoses, climbing rope (3/4 inch), cardboard, electrical cable, clothing, and lots of other shit (without any problems). This knife has never snagged or stopped while cutting anything, really. It just slices right through just about anything you put the blade to. And its been 4 months and I have yet to sharpen the blade. If you aren't and experienced user, this knife can be dangerous cause of the quick open blade. Otherwise, locking knives dont get any better. Kershaw Ken Onion is the way to go.

If you are looking for a boot knife, or a fixed-blade, go with a Navy SEALs knife, available on US Cavalry. It is just as nice as the Ken Onion, but even more badass.

Good luck in your search. Hopefully you really did want help finding a good knife cause this took like 20 minutes for me to write...

Pic of Ken Onion... Remember mine is silver blade, black handle, half serrated - but you get the point.

Help me buy a knife.

Thanks Jonas... Who knows - I might've just been a real dick to someone. It happens. I'm bi-polar like that. Ban or no, it doens't really matter. But in the future, if I am able to write reviews again, I'll be extremely careful how I talk to people. I will say - if you submit total shit to the Portal, I will criticize but I wont say "You fucking suck, ass." Or some other cliche put down. I will say - I doubt the mean things I say really affect anyone I say them to.

Does anyone else get rude sometimes without thinking about it, or is it just me?

An open letter to anyone that cares :

I feel like a douche for being annoying but I'm kind of upset. I've been at Newgrounds for several years (no big feat, I know) and I love the site. Seriously. I do quite a bit of web programming and back-end work and what you guys do is incredible. All the props in the world go out to you guys, and I'm sorry for alot of the crap you certainly have to deal with.

I do my best to contribute good material. When I post in the forums, I try to be decent, thorough, and thoughtful in my posts. Same with reviews. I submit VERY good reviews. I am articulate, helpful, thoughtful, and kind, in almost every single one of my reviews. To be honest, I think I am a very good reviewer, with a few exceptions. I wish you could go read some of my reviews, cause its impossible to say I don't put thought and attention into 90% of the reviews I write.

I found out during the 300,000 hoo-plah that I've been banned from writing reviews. And that kind of upsets me. I do know I broke the rules, and I have to pay the price. No question. I was rude to several people during the 300,000 Race - and that violates your Review Writing Rules, so my punishment is appropriate. I probably sound like a 13 year old, bitching and whining. If you are still reading, I appreciate your time and... pity?

Here's the thing : During the 300,000 Race alot of people were just submitting junk and being... really annoying. And I realize that's part of the fun, people being allowed to spam the Portal with shit just to try to lay claim to fame. And I wasn't trying to submit anything, but I wanted to see a good submission make 300,000. So in the process, if I was curt and innapropriate to some users, I apologize. Although my user-name may be misleading, I am rarely intentionally rude or inconsiderate. If I am, I really do believe you need someone to be a dick to you. I wasn't trying to be immature or mean, I was just fed up with people spamming the Portal. I hope you can understand that.

The real reason I'm upset isn't cause I got banned (I got banned cause I broke the rules, so I can't really be mad at that). I'm upset cause I don't want to lose the really good reviews I've written. About 85-90% of the reviews I write I'm proud of, and I don't want them to get lost or deleted. Alot of Flash artists have been helped and appreciated my reviews, and I don't want that to get taken away from me. To reiterate, I understand I broke the rules - I HAVE read the fine print (the rules and guidlines) but I reviewed several submissions recently without thinking about the consequences.

So, I'm not asking for my ban to be lifted. Not at all. In fact, if my account is deleted, that's fair - cause you made it plain and clear that it could happen in the rules. Hopefully I'll be allowed to keep my account and possibly even re-gain my review writing ability (I honestly do enjoy writing good reviews). All I'm asking is, if possible, I have the oppurtunity to save the reviews I wrote that I'm really proud of or that I thought were really well written.

Listen, sorry to ramble and bitch about a problem you probably don't really give two shits about (I don't blame you). But I figured, "I don't like something that is happening to me at one of my favorite websites, I should say something about it," you know? So that's all. I vocalized my problem. Again, I love the site - I know this doesn't mean anything to anyone, really - but I'll continue to contribute to the site in the best ways I know how. My bannage wont stop me from trying to be a 'useful' Newgrounds user.

Keep up the fucking awesome site. You guys are doing a fantastic job - Wade, Tom, the moderators, and the other under-cover NG workers. Take it easy, have a good one, and rock on!

Jon

Well, remember : WalMart is anti-union, they are PRO Individual (or whatever it is that they say). They rape into you - We are NOT anti-Union, we are NOT anti-Union (its like a mantra). But they obviously are. WalMart will never REALLY be able to be 100% unionized because of all the illegals and foreigners working there - plus a union of that size would be SO hard to create.

Since I quite I've heard there is some "Wal Mart Employee Organization" forming that is 'LIKE' a union - or WHATEVER...

Yeah, I got the PRO Individual shit. But remember, they ARENT anti Union (THAT would get them sued).

I worked at TLE in Denver for about two weeks (they paid me GREAT - $12 an hour to do OIL CHANGES) but the working environment fucking sucked. The discount was nice but the people I worked with were morons.

The hiring process is pretty funny - the wage negotiations, damn near 10 hour orientation, silly ass store tour, safety lectures galore, videos circa 1973, and... Wal Mart management leading it all (Jesus...).

Wal Mart would be a good place to work if you are non English speaking, another minority, an old person, or using this as a first job or a temporary job. Otherwise, working with 'tards and unprofessional useless fuckfaces gets old fast.

Mr. Shit, I would recommend that you email wade@newgrounds.com - subject 'Newgrounds Help Delete My Flash' with links to your flash and ask nicely.

My above reply was not directed at you. Thanks for the help, I'll try that.

Apparently you didn't read what I said :-P. I HAVE re-named the files and I've been waiting almost a month. If Wade is the only one that can delete movies then I understand the backup - this is a huge site. But I thought moderators had enough power to delete entries (they can ban user accounts, so I figured...)

Anyways...

I really would appreciate a moderator deleting my old Flash movies. I want to clear the old Flash off my account and start over with newer Flash movies. I re-named the files and I've been wating about 3 weeks and both submissions have yet to be deleted.

So if someone could help me out and delete my two Flashes from like 4 years ago I'd appreciate it...

Cause just renaming them hasn't worked...

Thanks.

Topic: Did you find this review helpful?

I must say I love this thread. I review alot of movies, and I consider myself a darn good reviewer. I don't take the popular view of a movie if I don't like it. But if I don't like it, I share my opinion why. And alot of times when I criticize a popular movie, my "Helpful" score goes out the window, regardless of how articulate or professional my review was.

My WarBears Review. My review was constructive, offered suggestions for improvement, and my honest opinion as to why I didn't like the game. Now you might not LIKE my review, or you might think I'm a retard cause I thought it was difficult and silly, but that's MY OPINION. But my review was constructive. I didn't directly offer suggestions for improvement, but I did articulate exactly what upset me about the game - and you can take from my criticism ways to imrpove... Whether or not you agree is one story, whether or not my review was a GOOD review is another.

Now I will say out of all 100+ reviews, that was my most aggressive. But I don't see how a game that is (to me) kind of average, could score so well...

That stems from - a big fan base of people that think "Oh ShitzOrs, this fucker dissed this BaDaSs movie, Ima FL4M3 his azz"... Or people that don't take time to actually read a review... Or 12 and 13 year old dumbasses that don't know how to work a mouse.

So with that being said, isn't this feature pointless? Because - I know there's a BUNCH of retarded reviewers out there. But in my case, saying one of my reviews wasn't helpful is almost never the case...

Hash is technically something else, isn't it. If not, is it a strain? Or is it just plain old weed? I'll add cannibis to the nicknames, thanks alot.

I don't get it... Anyways, if I use someone's idea, there is no reason for me to claim it as my own. My idea is for a collaborative effort including information and stories from anyone that wants to help. The more information and the more stuff I have in this Flash the prouder I'll be. It's not really for any purpose but personal satisfaction, I guess.

But I'm not trying to take credit for anyone's stories. If you think I wont give you credit, don't share your information or story with me, your choice...

But I appreciate any help and ideas I get. You can make fun or attack me but I really am trying to produce a professional and entertaining project. Plus the subject matter - if you don't get it, you aren't supposed to.

This Flash will only really appeal to people who... get it. ;-P. Anyways, still appreciate suggestions. I would appreciate not wasting my thread with trash posts like "Send me your Flash..." whatever. Thanks for your help guys.

Flash Forum = "Ask Questions and Discuss Flash Techniques" this post isn't asking for help on technique or programming. It's not really about FLASH but about my IDEA... See, I don't need to know if the programming or the look is okay. I'm just trying to figure out if the SUBJECT and the IDEA are interesting...

General Forum = "Talk About the Stuff on Newgrounds" - this Flash is going to be on NG... "or Whatever" - the General Forum, to my understanding, can be used for just about any thread...

Sorry, but two people have just posted about changing this to another Forum, but I don't see the point. I'm just trying to figure out if my idea is a good one - who cares what section this is in? Plus, its fine in 'General', come on. Instead of criticizing where this was posted, how about helping a fellow NGer out and letting me know if you like my idea and my screen shots ;-P. Peace out.

Also, I am now accepting 'Drug Stories' from people...

If you have a story (good, bad, funny, sad, whatever) about drug use or relating to drugs, email it to MiddleManCorrections@hotmail.com

If you want to be serious and talk about addiction, fine. Or if you want to talk about those 10 days you didn't sleep cause of that great Tina - let me know. Or if you want to tell us about your friend who got stoned and took embarassing photos - whatever...

So again, stories about drugs or relating to drugs being accepted for my interactive Flash due for release in Mid March. You will get full credit for your story, or can send it in anonymously...

Send all information, corrections, ideas, and especially stories to Middle Man Corrections

Thanks for the input... The layout is looking okay. Maybe a little but cluttered (ALOT of information) but the design is okay. I'm using sound FX for the menus and stuff so I like that aspect too.

FYI Release should be Mid-March round-abouts. Before that I will be releasing a short on "How to Cook Crack" (LOL). That should be done tonight or tomorrow.

Here's another screenshot.
