The mind of a communist.
From each according to his ability(everyone else), to each according to his need(them).
People only claim communism or socialism as a social responsibility when they currently have none.
Two examples from work. We've been hiring and training new people for the summer rush. The hard part is finding competent employees for the gate shop where I manage.
Our first new hire could not get the decimal value for 1/8" no matter how much it was dragged into his head. After a day of trying to get him to remember .125 through repetition I explained to him that if he would grab a calculator(placed above the machine he needed to put the numbers in) and divide 1 by 8 it would give him the number he needed. He didn't get it after a week so he was promptly fired.
He was stupid.
Another new hire kept putting hinge brackets on both sides of his gates. Seeing as the brackets are covered with vinyl we had no way of knowing untill installers brought them back. It was simply a matter of explaining the problem to him, giving him suggestions on how to fix the problem (easiest being put hinge brackets on the first side and the latch bracket on the second) and that was the last of that problem. He was just rushing, not stupid.
The second guy cost us more money, but it was something we could fix and he's been a great employee for the past month we've had him.
Like mentioned above, it is best to just avoid stupid people. If you can't, just avoid leaving them responsible with anything big.

No, just misguided. Usually someone who likes the ideas of socialism will be very smart, at least that's my personal experience. They just lack the understanding of human behavior that causes it to fail.
Let's get some teachers that are actually worth their weight. Stop giving them pay raises untill school materials are up to date and gpa's show improvement.
Raise tax incentives for new employees.
Cap fuel costs temporarily.
Spend money smarter. If you're going to spend $100 or $10,000 invest into a company established or a start-up put it in a CD or a savings account or something that at least has a possibility of return. There's too many adults today wasting their money on toys.
I think it's cute that people think gas prices will ever go down. We've proven for how long now that we will pay $3 a gallon and you think that's going to change. Why sell something for $2 when you know people will pay $3 or even more.
treason or conspiracy. Depends how serious you are and how far you go.

Stay in yor designated zone until you have the inner strength to stop killing yourself.
I do beleive that some bars should be smoking allowed that way all smokers can go there and enjoy eachother's cancer while healthy people can enjoy breathing freely.
That was longer and nastier than I planned but your comment deserved it.
And the point has gone right over your head. Yes people choose to walk into my fumes. You see I've entered the same bar as them knowing full well that I can smoke and that there will be second hand smoke. I've never asked anyone who doesn't allow smoking to make an exeption for myself and I never will, I simply ask that the few places I have to relax remain. I go to extreme lengths to make sure nobody is effected by my smoke, but reasonable assumtions are taken.

Well I'm glad to know the only punishment for doing bad things is hell. I'm off to rob a bank. I can't wait to see the looks on their faces when I tell them "HAHA. I'm an athiest!" They'll be helpless.

Actually the hope is to get her to stay in the race as long as possible. To get the attacks going back and forth and for both candidates to be throwing money at eachother while the republicans stay on page 2 and slowly and quietly bring in contributions for the campaign against whatever democrat wins. We want them to fight, we want hillary to fight to have michigan and florida seated, we want them to pay to have re elections in both states. And most of all we want obama to get the popular vote only to have it stolen by super delegates and given to hillary. Simply we see the bull headed nature of clinton and we're more than happy to let her destroy the democrats before the republicans run their first presidential ads.
It's funny to watch it happen and serves democrats right for crossing over and leaving us McCain for a candidate.
Well we've gone through 9 years of no change in the global average.
Almost a full degree colder in antarctica this year.
Almost doubled our co2 emissions in the last decade.
To say we're not going through climate change would be wrong.
To say it's man made is leaning towards wrong with what we know, but still debatable.

Really embarrassing.
Don't be ambarassed it's nothing but honesty.
But as a few people have already said it would be a good idea to look into getting some help. It's not just for the few people that have gone so far that they're ready to kill themselves. It can also help someone like you. It really sounds like you're just not comfortable in your own skin.

Wow dude. NO.
Cross contamination, labels falling off, tired doctors or nurses etc... There are a million reasons not to keep aids infected blood around.
This thread is like a weed. You pull one and another pops up a few weeks later.
Simple explation is cost.
They have to test every donation. That costs money.
Say every test only costs $10.
If you test ten people that comes to $100.
If you test ten straight men and one has aids than you have 9 bags at a cost of $100.
Now say you test ten gay men and two of them have aids, since they do have a higher percentage of carriers, well then you have 8 bags at the same cost of $100.
Make the numbers bigger to say 1000 people at the same percentage. The straight men will produce 900 bags at the cost of $10,000 and the gay men will only produce 800 at the same price.
Basically they're trying to get more bang for their buck. Most places run simply on donations and can't afford to take the risk simply to make some people feel warm and fuzzy inside.
If you're gay understand you are a higher risk. It's not anti-gay propoganda it's simply the facts.
Gay marriage/adoption. For the longest time I was against it because I saw it as nothing but an attempt to get most religions labeled as a hate group and little to do with the actual people they acted like they were representing. Finally I got over the fact that I'd be crouded along with the morons and anti-religion nuts and started openly supporting gay rights and just ignoring whoever is saying "fuck the christians" on top of the message I give.
Morning after pill. I still hold my rabid pro-life stance, but I've vome to terms with a necessary evil to take care of those .1% chances of birth control failing.
Not voting for someone or something I don't fully support. I'm picky, I want my vote to reflect what I feel is best for the country. The first 4 years of my voting life I would not vote for anyone I didn't agree 100% on. Then recently more and more people came into the political scene, localy and nationaly, that I think have the intent to do some really damaging things that I fear we can't recover from. That in mind I'll give my vote and increase someones chances of winning for the pure sake that they won't leave as big of a scar as the other guy.
Yes.
And if you openly disagree you're proving yourself wrong.
Barry Schwartz - His book "Paradox of Choice" showed some aspects of myself I would have previously looked at in a good light.
Bob Lonsberry - He's a local radio talk show host I listen to every morning at work. Puts things in a common sense perspective, and allthough I don't always agree with him I can see how he got his conclusions and can at least validate and respect his opinions. Too bad he'll never make it nationaly. Annoying voice and he isn't lock step with the rest of the conservatives.
Chris Moriarty - This one is a bit odd. I was eating at a resturaunt in wyoming when I saw her book "Spin State" left on the table next to me. I spent my entire lunch reading the first quarter of the book. Shortly back in town I found it and its sequal. They may just be some random bits of science fiction, but they also allowed me to think of different social situations I normally would have been miles away from. Ultimately changing my opinion from a not really caring to an against stance on gay marriage and adoption to a full fledged supporter.
I hate his talk against pork spending, throwing his own pork amendments into a bill then voting against it knowing it'll pass just so he can say "But look I voted against it." Why would you put something into a bill you wouldn't want passed?
It's a bill they don't plan on passing they just want to put it out there for "awareness" The guy who wrote it jokes he couldn't find a place to eat legally at his current size.

Democracy should represent the majority. It's the only way this country will change.
Help get alot of the money out of politics as well. Sure the candidates would spend more on their national campaign but it would dwarf on how much they put into each pre tuesday state.
On the topic of the three way republican race. It's a two man race Romney and McCain, all huckabee is doing is splitting the conservative vote and is the only reason Romny is not the sure thing.

So you only want to hear the bad things about mormons? I was pointing out that yes they have high moral standards but they don't expect anyone other than themselves to need to follow them. I was pointing out that it's actually less likely for a mormons beliefs and morals to interfere with the duties of public office.
At 2/3/08 01:56 PM, Christopherr wrote: I don't see why being a Mormon makes him any worse a leader. Most politicians are religious, but they do fine jobs still. Mormons have stricter sets of morals to follow than most Christians, actually.
That's true, but they also understand that it's just THERE morals that are stricter. A common joke in utah is kids wearing shirts that say "I can't I'm mormon" you see they worry about their own morals and nobody elses really, yes they'll kick you off of church property if you're smoking drunk or wearing a shirt that says "fuck shit fuck jesus was a whore" but they don't run around damning people to hell for being immoral. They'd get pretty tired yelling at everyone with a pepsi if that was the way they did it. They're pretty tollerant people.
With television it's a touchy subject. Since we have public air waves you should assume on those you would have the same respect as a billboard on the freeway. If you're going to offend 20% of the people who see it, probably not a good idea to allow it. Cable and other forms are private networks you pay for access and should have no censorship aside from the individual networks standards. Hell if disney channel wants to play a double feature of showgirls and debbie does dallas in prime time I see no problem with that.
When I worked out of state I gave my neighbors the info to use my internet while I was gone and just shut them off when I was home. Worked out well and I didn't feel too bad for shelling out 80 bucks a month for something I use on weekends. In return they kept up on my yard work and pulled the mail in for me. Made for a nice win/win situation.

Romney has alot of business experience. He's made a job of turning failing companies around. It's a bigger ship, but those same ideas will definately come in handy in doing the same for our economy.
If you're for Mccain can you tell me what you dislike so much about clinton? Or is it just the letter in front of their name?
f there's any investors out there. Remember this is the perfect time to go after some utilities, electric and pipe services always rise when everything else is dropping.
