So I'm impartial.

Response to: We shouldn't rejoice Osama's death Posted May 8th, 2011 in Politics

I don't know how many of the people posting in this thread watched the president's speech following the death of Osama, but he made a lot of good points. (and I am not a huge Obama fan) It's about 10 minutes long, but if you can't watch a 10 minute speech, you really have no business offering your opinion on what happened.

Everyone is going to have different opinions on this matter, because everyone has different experiences regarding Bin Laden.

Obviously people who lost loved ones on 9/11 or in military operations involving Al Queda are going to feel differently than people who have not.

I am glad to see him eliminated but haven't thrown any parties. I know there are plenty of people who feel differently and it is their right to do so.

I am a huge fan of protecting historically significant buildings/areas etc.
Our town had red brick streets, hand laid during the civil war, and the upkeep was getting tedious so they just paved over them. Irked me to no end.

I feel the same way when you see them condemning these old hospitals or prisons or houses. I hate seeing 200, 300 years of history washed away.

I am bothered less by the religious implications of the site to be honest, but should ancient Greek civilization be preserved, of course.

It's good food for thought (your thread), and I read a little on my own, and saw quite a bit of arguing between the medical community and the natural community. The medical community insisting you cannot "make" them, it's far too complex etc. etc.

Response to: A question regarding punishment for Posted April 17th, 2011 in Politics

I'm going to have to agree with some of the well made points I've seen already. So many of the accusations are false, or revenge. Removal of the man's genitals or execution is drastic unless a 100% without a doubt conviction is made--and that's tricky.

I think one way to help curb that, is to stop slapping women on the wrist who make it up--and this is coming from a woman. I know women who have made it up. I know one woman who made it up 2 times! And she's never seen a day in jail, meanwhile our tax money is being spent investigating her claims.

I'm also growing weary of hearing "blame the victim" defenses. Girls as young as 10 are being accused of wanting it and dressing like sluts so obviously they wanted it, which is so idiotic....The issue is just that--rape is an issue. It's something we need to stop being taboo about and lay down some laws on.

Also, it will be difficult to reach a universal consensus, this will most likely be state not federal procedure. As of right now, some states don't even have a minimum for sex crimes, whereas others do.
