I guess that depends on what you define as a long time, doesn't it?
When have you been outside last?

2 hours ago; do you think that is a long time?

Response to: Florida Grandpa Kills His Family Posted September 19th, 2014 in General

I think keeping him in jail for life might be a good idea now, or an institution. Just somewhere he can't get out of, since after murdering his own family members twice he shouldn't get a third try at it.

So, what is the weirdest commercial you've ever seen?

I came across this gem of weirdness today. It is certainly a contender for that title.

Response to: Show Binging Posted September 19th, 2014 in General

I feel like binge watching a series has diminishing returns. After about the 3rd or 4th episode I'm not enjoying the show nearly as much as when I started out. The maximum for me is about the length of the longest movie out there, so maybe 4 hours. After that I almost always stop and pick it up later.

Debt Free Usa Posted September 19th, 2014 in Politics

So, apparently the last time the USA was debt free was in 1835 under President Andrew Jackson, otherwise known as Old Hickory. It lasted only one year. So, apparently the US could afford to take some pointers from Old Hickory on finance. It will probably never happen again that the US is debt free, but if it does manage it, it would be the first time in almost 200 years, which would be pretty impressive.

So does anyone have any bright ideas for reducing the US national debt? Keep in mind that this were have to pass through a famously resistant Congress. Of course there are really no wrong answers, since no one has been able to manage it in centuries, even though there have been plenty of attempts.

It's fine, but a little crowded. I would have liked ot see more white space between your name and the border. Also, I'd like to see the reds on the border be a little better blended between the light and the dark reds. It's kind of stark, between the light and the dark parts and I think it would look nicer if it went from dark to light more gradually.

I sure hope so. With the amount of money it costs to even shoot the cheapest ship into space with a human being on it, it would cost the net worth of the entire world to move a small city of them into space. That's not exactly a great way to start branching out into other planets, which I'm kind of hoping happens in my lifetime. Humanity could use a nice distraction, and what better one than the entire universe?

I'm not sure if it is the graininess or the expression, but that picture is very disturbing.

I think that fact that people become more frail as they age is a good argument for why people shouldn't live alone, especially as they get older. If you get hurt and its just you, you could easily die from something that would be a simple matter if someone could get you help. People probably aren't meant to live alone, even though it is becoming more and more common.

If I lose I will not post in any forum topic for the next week. If I win, whoever is willing to wager me promises to do the same. Any takers?

Response to: How Are You Stereotyped? Posted September 18th, 2014 in General

Some people have stereotypical views about Australians, especially if they've never met one of us.

We don't all like Fosters and wrestle crocodiles. We don't only eat barbecue and Vegemite. We don't all wear those weird hats and pepper our language with absurd amounts of slang. We don't all have tans and we don't all live in the desert or on the beach. Also, while there is a higher concentration of animals that can kill you around here, unless you hang around the outback a lot the chances of being hurt by any one of them is very small. Also, while it doesn't snow everywhere it does snow some places enough to have ski resorts. Alright, I'm done.

Always look for toilet paper before you take a shit. Trust me, it's worth the two seconds.

By the way, if this ever happens again paper towels, paper, newspaper, or a damp rag will do the job just fine. Whatever you wind up using though, it would be best to throw it out and never use it again. Bits of clothing work too, even some leaves would do the trick.

The 1980's version of Flash Gordon is a wonderfully terrible movie, especially if you're drunk. All the bright colors and Queen music certainly helps too.
