So we're at around 4,000 deaths from Ebola now.
Also, apparently two people died in Nigeria, because they had heard that drinking large amounts of salt water could prevent ebola. I wonder how many other deaths due too ignorance about ebola we'll hear before this outbreak is over. If I had to make a guess I'd say it will be at least in the 100s. Sad...but you can hardly blame people for wanting to do something to protect themselves.

You sure there isn't a less gross way of figuring out the same thing, like using a Ph test strip?
Two of my picks for movies made it to the top 5. That's pretty good. Congratulations to the winners!
This one's on the obscure side. I'll give you a hint. It's an Australian Children's Show.
Yes, because as much as the former has problems the latter is rarely much better. Most of the top countries in education have teachers unions. They also have better paid teachers. In a market based economy talent goes where the money is and countries without teachers unions tend to have less qualified teachers. Since education is an economic driver its important for your teachers to be well paid. If that means unions, so be it. Otherwise the teaching profession, which is mostly publicly funded, will be even more prey to political theatre and budget maneuvering. The highest achieving countries in education pay their teachers extremely well.
That being said, giving a teachers union too much power can have the opposite effect. You don't want your teachers constantly on strike for better pay at the expense of the children. It is one of those things that is essential enough that you really can't have people out striking for weeks on end. Every week is a week that a huge portion of the young population is not getting educated and what good are good teachers if they're not actually teaching. As with most things, they are good in moderation.
The thing that really disturbs me is when some major city winds up going for the public private mix where most of the money goes to the private schools and the overall education quality is diminished. What good is having the best primary schools in the country when you're average students are doing below average work. It is more efficient to try and raise up the quality of all schools instead of poring tons of money and talent into a small fraction of them while leaving the rest to tread water.

How did you come up with the idea?
It came from a very different place - kinda like Fluxx, but with points and a definite ending. The first playtest was a mess. But one card (forcing you to stand up) was a sign of a different, better game. Ben pointed this out. I made it all physical. I removed points. I simplified. I simplified further.
And now, it's at a stage where I can say, "This is a great game that many folk will enjoy."
Much love to all backers.
Congratulations on it getting funded and good luck bringing it to life. I hope you will keep us updated on your progress for those who weren't park of the kickstarter, but might still be interested in the finished product.

I try memorizing landmarks that I can identify day or night when I go to a new place now, so I can recreate the trek on my own in the future. But, bottom line, you gotta ask. If you don't know something, then ask. I google maps the directions at a place before I head out, and if its dusk or night, I can actually mount my phone to my motorcycles handlebars and make use of its navigation.
When I buy a car soon, I would really like for it to have navigation...or at least a place I can put my phone so I can keep using its nav.
I Velcro the GPS to the dashboard of my car. It's much cheaper than buying navigation built in and you can swap out one GPS for another one whenever you like.
As for getting lost, yes I get lost. I just moved to a new place and I'm still finding my way around. I purposely try to get myself lost so that I get to know all the little side streets. Living near a large city you'd think I'd know them all by now, but I don't. I carry a map and a GPS around just in case I get really lost and try to walk as many places as possible so I'm not burning gasoline trying to find my way around.
1920x1080 for me as well. I've never had a space that could fit a television screen that would make any resolution higher then that feasible and most of my video games just can't handle something like 4K. That and the price point for a 1080p monitor is really nice at the moment. Once the price for 4K drops to where 1080p is now I may splurge for one of those, but for now I really don't care.
So, according to this poll, newgrounds is:
36% White
15% Other
8% Black
8% Mixed Race
7% East Asian
7% Indian
7% South East Asian
7% Arab
6% Hispanic/Latino
I'm thinking that not everyone was completely truthful in their choices.

I once had neighbors with this Irish Blessing on their door. They would always offer us cookies whenever we came by and have really interesting stories to tell us. They were also very funny. In honor of them I send good wishes to all of Newgrounds through this Irish Blessing.
May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.
May God be with you and bless you:
May you see your children's children.
May you be poor in misfortune,
Rich in blessings.
May you know nothing but happiness
From this day forward.
May the road rise up to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the warm rays of sun fall upon your home
And may the hand of a friend always be near.
May green be the grass you walk on,
May blue be the skies above you,
May pure be the joys that surround you,
May true be the hearts that love you.
Have a Great Day!
I once took a shit that disappeared before hitting the toilet and then reappeared above me before swallowing me whole in a shit wormhole, which transported me back to an exact replica of the toilet where I had originally shit, except that everything was no upside down. Then I watched the shit from the other side of the wormhole transform into a carbon copy of me and start living my life as if nothing had happened. Then the wormhole disappeared after covering me in pieces of shitty wormhole. NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, there are threads that were quite interesting and nice from the past. Some of those are very specific to the times and could never be revived in the present. On the other hand, others may have pieces of them that could be relevant today. Sometimes when I'm trying to figure something out I check the archives of a forum, a newspaper, a website or whatever and it will often help me come up with new ideas. Some of those new ideas wind up crystallizing into new threads here. Others help me in other parts of my life and work. It's never a bad idea to revisit the past, since so much of it is relevant to the present time. Very little is truly new, after all.
That's ok @jedbook. Almost everyone starts out not knowing what they're doing and we all learn. Every place it a bit different and you got to get a feel for what that community is looking for. Also, don't be too discouraged. On a forum as in real life, lots of people are just going to decide they don't like you. Don't let that bother you. Just keep posting and sharing and we will quickly become part of that community, whatever forum that happens to be. Also, don't be afraid to try out a bunch of forums to see which ones fit you the best. Good luck.
I could make a better sandwich then either of those places and most of you could too. Their bread is just really weak and their ingredients are average at best. Of course it's fast food, so I guess I shouldn't be expecting that much.
I don't remember that commercial and it's weird as hell.
We have some pretty weird commercials here in Australia.
Here's one for CareFree Tampons. I think the actor is trying to act Southern.
Here's an Aldi Ham Christmas Commercial
Here's one for Carlton Draught
There are so many weird Australian beer commercials.....so many......
GoldenEye 007 for N64. I have no idea why I'm so good at that game, since I'm not particularly good at any other shooters, but there you have it. A skill that is only useful when people are in need of nostalgia. I wind up playing it maybe once a year.

Would you rather freeze or burn?
Burn, because I'm pretty sure I could survive that. Being frozen is pretty much a death sentence.
Would you rather never be ever to wear pants again or never be able to wear a shirt again?
So many memes....too many memes. The net needs to go on a meme holiday, before all get sick of the term. I think the word I'm looking for is oversaturation. Anyway, I really don't care what Steam does with it. They're all about selling games, which they're pretty good at. Anything else they do, even badly, that is unrelated really doesn't matter to me. Maybe I give Valve a bit more of a break then I should, because their CEO is such a friendly looking guy.
It's cool that they can do this now and its good that people who weren't able to have a child can now have them. Granted, any new technology has the potential to be used unethically, but I don't think this technology really lends itself to that. However, it's still very much in the early stages so we'll have to see how this plays out. No doubt, it will be used in ways that we wouldn't have imagined. If I was one of these women who could now get pregnant when they couldn't before I'd be really happy.
I really like eating duck; far more so then it really reasonable. I think I might be a bit obsessed.
For anyone who hasn't eaten a well prepared duck, imagine a piece of bacon, except its a whole animal and its all equally tasty and not nearly as greasy. That's a duck.
Only two tabs open today and they're both the BBS. I'm trying not to multitask today to see if I'm more efficient.

Speaking of that website, if you take a look at it the hurricane path has been updated. It appears that now it will be bypassing China, Taiwan, and North Korea to make a fairly direct beeline toward the Japanese mainland while skirting South Korea and parts of Eastern Russia. It is apparently as strong as Haiyan was last year, however it will be making landfall along area that are generally much better prepared (Japan and South Korea) or sparsely populated (in the case of Eastern Russia), so the death toll should be much much lower. Hopefully it will be zero.

Isn't the answer to "why are we here" that each individual gets to decide the meaning of their own life for themselves?
Speaking of Phallic Buildings, there was a contest to determine which building was the most Phallic looking. The winner was fairly convincing.
