This kid's a fucking idiot. You NEED meat since it has a ton of Protein, and every cell in your body needs a shitload of protein.
Many Americans get too much protein.
Protein is easy to get, even on a vegan diet.
Vegetarians can choose plant sources of proteins, such as legumes, grains, and vegetables to meet their needs. Lacto-ovo vegetarians, who eat dairy products and eggs, also get their protein from those sources. Vegetarian diets can be consistent with the Dietary Guidelines for Americans and can meet Dietary Reference Intakes for nutrients. Vegetarian diets can provide enough protein if the variety and amounts of foods are selected with this in mind.

I'm not going against my nature. In fact, when I changed my diet I felt much more at one with the world. Some animals eat only plants, some eat only meat, and some eat both. Humans are omnivores with a good ability to adapt to their environment. So in no way am I going against nature by not eating meat. Nor are meat-eaters going against nature by consuming flesh.
And again, just because something occurs in nature, that doesn't make it right. Ducks and dolphins rape each other. So do humans, but we have laws against that and view it as wrong. Some animals murder each other; we see that as wrong and try to diminish it. Some animals kill for food; some humans think it's wrong to do that in their case and so do not.
I actually agree with you. Anyone who says that eating one food instead of another is just trying to force their beliefs onto others and make themselves seem right. But still, I don't at all see how eating other animals is wrong, sure they have lives too, but their lives are being taken in order to carry on that of another living thing. Hell, if I could, I would prefer being consumed by something else bigger than me instead of just rotting and being eaten by maggots or just being cremated so my remains serve no purpose to anyone else. Sure eating another human is seen as wrong, but they are on a much greater level of sentience than other animals.
Ha, thanks.
To be honest, I think the main issue people have with it is not that the animal is being consumed, but what the animal had to go through to end up on the dinner plate. Poor living conditions, abuse, lack of care, high stress, etc which lead to injuries, insanity, and a miserable life. That's why so many people prefer to eat free range meat. We're not sadistic. I think most people who actually care would rather eat an animal that lived a pleasurable life up until the time it was slaughtered. The mass-production factory farm system that is currently the main meat distributor doesn't afford us that peace of mind.
I am most okay with people having small farms and killing their own animals for consumption or hunting for food. Still, I'd never eat meat no matter how it was rendered. That's just a personal preference. I'm not wild about the taste and I'd rather avoid unnecessary killing.
Is eating another human seen as wrong because of their level of sentience, or because they are our own species? Because I think that's something you could find across species. I doubt cats would like to eat other cats and at any rate I think it still bothers humans if they know a dog for example is eating another dog.
Plus, as far as sentience goes, it should be less acceptable to eat a full-grown pig than a human infant. Of course there are other aspects that make this untrue, but it sounds right simply from that standpoint.
