my bad, last sentence should read call you out on the lack of sense you're making
Dear lord just answer the damn question. I'm not asking what some guy did to you. I'm asking what religion has done to you to make you hate it. I'm guessing that religion has not effected your life what so ever. This only justifies me saying that you're doing this to vent your angst in hopes of winning the war on religion.
Oh and what did Osama do to me? He's responsible for the 9/11 attacks. Anyone who lived in America at that time was affected by it.
So lets say you win your war and religion is banished form the earth. What then? Do you expect flying cars and bubble buildings? Do you expect all nations to be at peace and we all sing songs about how great it is to be enlightened? I don't have to use philosophy or religious texts here to call you out how little sense you're making.
Funny how you just go ahead and insult me while showing no evidence of relgious rules and guidelines brainwashing children.
Also, I noticed you did not answer my question. I will ask you again. What has religion done to you to make you hate it.
I ask this question? What has religion directly done to you to make your life miserable? There are so many topics like this on NG and no one can really give a credible answer. Religion is a great way to vent your young angst. You'd love to jump the gun and say that we're all brainwashed but it's simply not true.
Suddenly it's ok to raise a kid as an atheist but not as a religiou individual? This sheer hypocrisy shows me that you're opinion is warped just as much as a relgious zealot. And don't tell me that Atheism isn't a belief. That's exactly what it is. The belief of Atheism has just as much validity as any other religion. You can't prove or deny the existance of God. And please spare me with the spaghetti monster example because that's just a low insult to anyone of faith.
You ask why we are forced to tolerate religion? No one is forcing us to tolerate it. Why should I have to tolerate your message? I simply tolerate because I respect your opinion. But that being said, you should give religious people that same respect. If you want respect, then you and the other Atheists out there with the same mindset need to earn it.

It even says so in the Bible: Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation. This is an euphemism meaning that everyone who doesn't believe in him will go to Hell. It's good if you don't believe it that way, but the point I'm trying to make is that why should atheists have to respect those Christians who do believe it?At 7/8/07 08:07 PM, AapoJoki wrote:don't recall saying that anywhere in my postAt 7/8/07 07:23 PM, semaGdniM wrote: when they never seem to respect mine. Why would they respect the opinions of someone who thinks they're going to Hell?
You say "A lot of christians think". First off every Christian has their own personal belief. Not every christian group takes the bible literally. Most I know interpret the bible towards their own lives. Anti-Christians (Not saying you) Need to stop thinking that every christian is an evangelist or a "C c c Catholic" so scary.
also why should atheists repect our beliefs? Geez I don't know because if they wanted "A lot of Christians" to respect theirs than respecting ours would be a great start. It goes both ways.

don't recall saying that anywhere in my post. Also to the responder of my entire post, I never said atheist were literally depressed and hated themselves. I was using that as an example. I'm not saying I hate atheists, I just saying from the ones i've met and talked to, they seem to hate me the second I mention I'm religious.
I try so hard to give atheists respect to their opinion but it just seems hard when they never seem to respect mine. Now I know this is a general statement but I've met and talked to many atheists. They all act the same way. The second a religious debate starts, they become incredibly hostile and try to make me look as ignorant as possible. It's given me a horrible impression of atheists. I can't help but you think you guys believe the miserable atheist who hates himself and everyone around him is better than the religious man who does as much good as he can.
Does religion cause wars. Of course. But wars happen for many other reasons. Land, rivalries and possessions are just a few to note. War wouldn't end if we all gave up on religion.
Is it really so bad if people have hope for a brighter tomorrow? the atheists I met seem to think so because our minds are clouded with false realities. Yet if we say they have no proof to disprove god, we get attacked.
Look at the start of this post. One person gave their view and he was immediately attacked by multiple atheists. It's like you think the world is out to get you guys but we really just don't care. Most people don't give a damn about your belief, it's how you make us try to feel ignorant for ours. If you want to try to inform people about your "idea", then maybe not insulting and berating us would give you better chances at success.
ok i tested my theory. I used all of my herbs and let some monster kick the shit out of me. I ran back to the merchant and much to my surprise, two first aid sprays were on sale. So I guess he only sells them if you suck.
well i'm just doing a replay with all my guns items etc. I did just remember something that could answer my question. I remember reading in a faq awhile back that resident evil doesnt have a difficulty setting per-se. But the game difficulty does change as you play. This meaning if you're getting your ass kicked for awhile the game will shift into an easier mode to compensate for you. Could it be possible that first aids aren't on sale because the game noticed I didn't need them?
well thats what I did. And yes I ended up with a huge surplus of herbs. But this question really isn't for the purpose of "I need health". Im just curious as to why he won't sell me this stuff.
That would work but for some reasong he wouldn't sell me any during my first play through either. o.O
ok I don't have an account on IGN or Gamespot or anything like that. That's why I'm just going to ask this question here for the hell of it.
I picked up RE4 for the Wii. Yes it does kick royal ass compared to the others. I am however experiencing a little problem and was wondering if anyone has a solution.
I've beaten the game and am playing it over. But for some reason whenever I go to the merchant, he never has first aid spray on sale. Is there something I have to do to unlock this?
it's obvious it's not just us who were surprised by his ethnicity. the south korean community is mortified over this. The president of south korea apologized to v.tech.
Yes most of the serial killers are white, but a serial killer can be anyone. If you have the brain defeciencies, the sociopathic tendicies, and history of abuse; then you're a prime candidate. It's kind of strange that these problems would look like they affect whites more than others.

And the Greeks!ah, well if you wanted to talk legacy you shoul've said something more than "well their cities are abandonned". as far as legacies go the reason Rome and Greece affected the world so much was because their civilisations influenced Europeans who in turn influenced the world. just because a societies history is not relevant to one's own and isn't mentioned in your history books doesn't mean it hasn't left its mark on the region. the different empires of ancient Africa were not warlike, they were merchants.
It seems like apart from Egypt the civilizations of Africa were at best on par with the Huns and Mongols, just warlike people, who really didn't contribute anything to humanity.
You talk of the Romans, Greeks and Persians as if they weren't all that important. As if the Europeans just thought those civilations were "Cool" and we should adopt there ideas. Many of these ancient civilizations methods and lifestyles were just practical and the Europeans saw the benefits of this to get out of the dark ages.
as for the topic. We can't be unsure of Africa's contributions or lack their of simply due to the vast landscape and lack of archaeological evidence. They are an oral culture so we won't find writings. And due to European colonization, ancient evidence may have been destroyed.
As for Africa today, it's undeniable it is a struggling continent.

post was meant for people who have watched it >.>
it's all about if you own the game or not. If you own the game it's ok becuse its like owning a backup copy or something like that. If your original copy is lost or damaged then you can use the rom as a back up. That being said, no one really does that.
Just like with downloading music or movies, you're taking a risk when you download. But the odds of getting caught are incredibly slim. You really don't have anything to worry about.
I wanted to get opinons from people on this show. And by show I mean the Tim and Eric Awsome Show Great Job on Adult swim that airs on sundays (Friday if you watch it on as website).
My friends and I are bitterly divided over this show. It seems to be you either love it to death or wish it never aired. I want your personal opinons. Do you like the show or not and why?
I myself love the show. It has a style of humor that's just hard to describe. It's like a twisted version of british humor. You either get it or you don't. I feel bad if you don't get it though.
So then, post away.
Well I heard Magic Johnson was working with the russians to create a super team of basketball players to defeat the USA in the olympics. The US had to give him AIDS to ensure they would always "Have Game".
how about the atheist scientist and creatonists both shut the hell up and stop debating each other. This is getting absolutely rediculous. There is no way to prove the existence of god and scientists will tell you that any theory they have can't be assumed as 100% true. This means that both of their theories aren't 100% valid.
Whatever happened in just respecting people's beliefs? You don't believe in god? Fine. You don't believe in evolution? That's fine too. As long as you're not running around like an idiot talking about the "misguided ones" or the "speghetti monster" then you're fine by me.
somethings wrong here when we got a bunch of white people talking about what the N word means to black people >.>

actually race does exist. Race is used when describing the physical characteristics of a group of people. Race is used to define people biologicaly. Ethnicity is used to define people culturaly

I'm probably going to get a lot of crap for this but I'll say it anyway. From a cultural standpoint, I don't see how Jesus could have been black. If we look at history, in terms of racism and slavery, the blacks and jews have revieved some of the most harsh and wrongful treatment ever.
Blacks have always had to deal with lack of respect racism That being said, if Jesus was black, I just don't think he'd get the same amount of respect as if he were a "non black" man. It's a really harsh thing to say I know. But I'm factoring in the beliefs of the times mixed in with man's racism.
OR AIDS is actually a virus that started in african monkey's. It was known as the SIV virus and couldn't infect humans. African tribes started eating the chimps for food and eventually the SIV virus evolved into what is now the HIV virus. Didn't need 3 pages for that.
Thanks for the post. I couldn't remember his name for the life of me.
I don't claim to be a master of Rome but I'll always read or watch shows about it when I can.
I ask this question to the OP. When you say what if Rome still existed today, which Rome are you talking about? Is it the Western Empire or the Holy Eastern? I'm just going to assume western for the purpose of the post.
If Rome still existed today, then many of its problems regarding it's fall would have either
a. never happened
b. were realized and fixed.
Now more than likely these things wouldn't happen. Romans were very stuck in their ways. (Cough, understatement, cough). We have to assume they beefed up their military to combat their huge expansion and ended the corruption within their government/monarchy. Not to mention all of the other changes they would have had to make to survive.
What language would we be speaking today? Teh Latin Verbes. Salve ^^
What would wars be like? Well this question is hard to say really. We first have to ask what we would be like technologicaly.
There were some posts saying that we'd be more technological/less technological. What needs to be understood is we are in our state of advancement today due to a handful of smart men. They could have easily been killed/gave up on their ideas and we'd be less advanced than we are now. A good example of this was a man in greece (Really sorry but I don't remember his name. If anyone knows please remind me). He was an inventor who used his inventions to entertain adults and children. One invention he made was a ball that could propel itself via steam. This man was actually in the process of making the first steam powered turbine but didn't know it. Now if he would have made the connection, the industrial revolution may have started thousands of years ago. Just think of where we would be now if that happened. That was kind of a rant I know.
So lets just say the same men who helped fuel our era lived in Rome. I think they would have made the exact same progress. Rome was an empire that prided itself on borrowing/creating ideas and improving efficiency to better their empire. They would have loved the concept of the huge labor forces and machines to help production and fuel their conquests. Yes they became largely dependent on slaves in the end but if someon came up with the idea of steam engines and showed how much production it could create, I doubt Rome would reject it. They loved new ideas for their own improvement. An example of this is seen in the punic wars.
Carthage built huge warships to combat the Romans. During these naval fights, the Romans just couldn't handle these new ships. So one day, one of these massive warships crashes at sea and washes up near a Roman army. What do they do? They study it, build their own, and kick Carthages ass with them.
So if technology advanced the same like I think it would, I'd have to say so would the military. Now don't get me wrong, Rome was very stubborn when it came to changing their military. The only huge impacts I know of was changing war styles to combat Hannibal and the Marius reform. This being said, the reason the army wasn't changing much with the times was due to a corrupt government and useless emperors. And like I said earlier, if Rome were alive today, then things like the government would be fixed. They would probably remain a republic. And a senate that works for the state and people "SPQR" would change even their military if their times demanded it.
So in conclusion. I'd say we'd probably be about the same, only their was a lot of time in between the fall of Rome and creation of America. Do I dare say we might be.....better off?
so 4chan isn't what it used to be and you're pissed. K thanks.
if anything it can show meth heads all of the wonderful ways they can obtain more meth.
why is this news? Are the news stations so out of information that they resort to discussing snow's health concerns? I'm sure he loves to see it pasted all over CNN and Fox News. Ok he has cancer and it's horrible. Yes America should be informed but I think there are other things the news can focus on. Like Anna Nicole, theres some great news >.>.
this whole situation just seems to reinforce how the US is integrating religion in their government. The topic of gay marriage, the fact that evangelists churches have a huge say in elections and now this.
I think what the kids did was pretty stupid. Just seems like a bunch of 4/20 stoners trying to "Freak Out" the establishment. That being said, they don't deserve to be prosecuted.
