It's the law that the dog must be put down. I'm sure the vet would rather not kill him, the vet knows us and has been our dog's vet for a long time. I'm sure it'll hurt him too.

Alright everybody I have a rather sad tale to share with you tonight.
I've had my dog for about 7 years. He's a great dog, and my bestfriend, and I might lose him soon.
It started a few days ago, he was outside in the backyard and I was sitting on the back porch. He was running around by himself and barking crazily, I stood up to look what the fuck he was doing and saw a fucking bat flying around him. The bat was flapping it's wings like crazy and my dog, being the pussy he is, was running from it, barking.
I jumped over the rail and went out and started flailing my arms at the bat like a retard at the special olympics. Before I even got fully over towards where it was, it flew the other direction and straight into our neighbor's fence, and got stuck inbetween the old, shoddy wires.
So now, I'm thinking, "What the fuck?"
I walked over and see the bat is still alive, but stuck pretty wel with a wire all the way through it's left wing and wedge inbetween the wooden rail and the wired overlay. I took my dog inside and told my mom, who put out a good point about the fact it's mid day and the bat might be diseased. She called the animal control and they told us to kill the bat to ensure it doesn't escape so they can test it. Well I went outside and grabbed a wooden plank and smashed the bat's skull, yelling, "I AM THE VAMPIRE SLAYER!" I thought the whole ordeal was hilarious, really.
Well the pet control came over, took the bat. Then told us to take our dog to the vet.
Basically now the scenario is this. The bat got tested for rabies and the results come back tomorrow, if positive they have to put my dog to sleep. If negative, there's nothing to worry about. There's a possibility that my dog could've gotten bit, even though the vets found no marks it could've been very small, and by law, the dog MUST be put down if the results are positive. He's been acting normal, and they even gave him some medicine to help him calm down.
Discuss, and I'll post the results for the bat tomorrow.
