I used to sleep in class when I was in high school. As a result, I had to go to community college before entering an actual university.
No regrets, though.
I always peel the crust off of my sandwiches...

This is a valid point. This scenario would only be worth it if she was loaded with $$$, which is unlikely considering they both work at the same job.

Yes! Absolutely! No question about it. They will be living the dream that I have always had, and I would not be able to tell them not to go, even if I were worried about their safety.
This is a brilliant idea. Can I bring my friend Dennis?

I think the real question is where do you think it comes from?

If the old chat was still around, you would be able to accomplish both simultaneously.
It was awesome.

This.
Also, it is rather interesting to think about who would be the owner of the site if it were still around fifty years from now. Would it stay in the family, or would Google buy it?

I know for a fact that I was never 'taught' any of this nonsense in school. I have heard plenty of these stories, but they weren't through any of my teachers.
Nevertheless, I sincerely feel bad for people that have had this shit presented to them as factual, especially if this happened in any decade following the 1960s.

That would have been pretty amazing.

Right. So, in other words, smoking weed can lead to doing much worse things. It did for me, but it might not for other people.
As for other drugs acting as an effective gateway... meh. If I started off using oxycodone daily as opposed to weed, I probably would've just moved right on to heroin and then would have been dead within a month. Weed is an effective gateway drug (compared to other drugs) because it is not physically addicting.
If weed were legal and schools stopped lying to us, I guarantee many less people would branch out.
I agree with the first part, but I can't think of a single time when I was in school that I felt I was "lied to" about the effects of any drug. Most of my teachers were rather realistic people. Though, I do agree that drug education could be handled differently.

It is not necessarily that simple.

This is sound advice.
Also, marijuana can definitely be a gateway drug. It was for me and all of my friends; and the substances we moved on to were not things that people in their late teens should be forming habits around. Thankfully, for the most part, my close friends and I have moved out of such habits... though this was a very prolonged, painful process.

That is certainly one way of interpreting it.

Sumerian and Egyptian tablets are referring to 'Gods', I get you're saying they are describing the same thing but if you really study it and pay attention to the differences they are described differently, although they are both 'divine'.
You're right. I apologize for not reading the entire thread before replying to your comment. Otherwise, I would've seen that supergandhi64 had already mentioned the point I was going to bring up.
You have to understand these similar accounts were written in different locations throughout the world and on separate continents. So, there is no way they could of been borrowed from each other.
I'm not too sure if I agree that there is 'no way' of knowing how these similar accounts came to be so widespread, though I entirely understand and appreciate the point you're making. To go back to my original example, most ancient civilizations have some form of a flood myth - why? I'm not sure - but there sure, in my opinion (which is hardly worth anything), has to be some sort of connection between these societies' myths, their oral traditions of storytelling, and the bible. Nevertheless, I cannot prove what I am saying; and you have every right to disagree with me.
Do you see yourself working at this same job ten years from now?
Either way, you should probably just stay away from her.

In other news, what is your opinion on technology?
At 3/12/13 04:52 PM, Otto wrote: I understand that much man, I just don't know any anxious people who feel better from smoking it.
Aye. I have pretty bad anxiety as well. Smoking herb only increases it and makes it worse, but I still smoke on occasion because I still find its overall effects to be worth it. But I still wouldn't recommend a teenager with anxiety to start smoking, as I am sure that it was my habit of smoking daily that has turned me into the anxious little fuck I am today.
Good luck with whatever you do, anxiety is a cunt.
Amen.

Holy shit! I forgot about this movie! Was one of my favorites while growing up, along with The Great Mouse Detective!
Leprechaun: In The Hood
Mighty Ducks 2
Mars Attacks!
And, a more recent one:
Man with the Iron Fists
Most of my favorite movies are generally viewed as shitty by others.

there were other factors too but now I can't smoke it without freaking out which is such a shame because it was fine for so many years smoking so much
Story of my life right here. I used to smoke daily when I was a teenager. Then I started having responsibilities and had to cut back not only because I had other shit to do but because it started making my anxiety a thousand times worse.
At 3/12/13 03:40 AM, Ma1achi wrote: Angels originated from Biblical Texts
Not exactly true, though not necessarily false either. Most modern understandings of the idea of an "angel" do tend to rely on their roles as holy messengers within Christianity and Judaism, but there are actually ancient texts (Sumerian, Egyptian, Persian) which predate the Bible that also express beliefs in 'angels.' I have no readily available source to back up what I'm saying, though, so take it as you will.
A lot of ideas and motifs found within the Bible are actually borrowed from other ancient texts and religions. The story of the flood, which has its origins in ancient Mesopotamia, is one example that comes to mind. In my opinion, the story is actually much more powerful within the context of the epic of Gilgamesh than it is within the Bible.
There is actually a Angel Hierarchy. Angels being at the bottom with two wings, Cherubim being at the middle with four wings, and Seraphim's being at the top with six wings. Also, there are many other ranks in-between these.
Indeed. This sort of categorization has always been interesting to me.
Oh fuck yes. I prefer women with short hair, piercings, and tattoos with bright colors. I would also much rather a girl be covered in tattoos than to just have a few of them. A slight problem with this is that these types of young women tend to be attracted to guys that also have lots of tattoos and piercings... As a young man that is soon to be entering the world of teaching, I am too afraid to have any sort of thing.
