Response to: When you leave/left school Posted January 14th, 2008 in General

My mates are still in High School, whereas I left.

We keep in touch, since where I work isn't far from the school, and with the LAN Parties we host, I imagine we'll keep in touch. We're a close-knit group.

Hey, look. I'm willing not to let this get out of hand if we just talk. Chances are there's just a misunderstanding.

How about you create an email account just for the purpose of this?
how about no

=====

Look, I can go to court and force Newgrounds to give up your contact details, so I can make you pay back the cash I payed.

Or, you could just let me email you.
i dont even know why u bothering me when i dont even know u or wat ur talkin about.I'm not a animator i never made a flash movie or anything so i dont see why i'd even take ur money thinkin im goin to animate anything.

Hey, you took my money. We had an agreement, and if you're not going to keep up your end, I'll just have to take this further. Can't we just talk?

We had an agreement! Look, I can bring up the PM saying that you'd make a Flash of someone doing a barrel roll for $300. And my PayPal transaction saying I payed you.

Will that make you admit it?
I will not respond after this messege ok?......cause no matter how many times i tell u i didnt agree to anything u aint goin to listen so do what you want and bye.

So, what I need is someone who'll PM him and try to befriend him, and to ESPECIALLY see if they can get his email address. That's the kind of thing that'll be useful.

Why, my son, when it comes to collaboration...
There's only one thing you should know.

*Ahem*

You can try it, it's not that hard,
Okay?
But your thread might be locked,
by some asshole mod,
So just remember this simple rule...

You gotta have a:
LEVEL, 3, POINT, 0,
Baaating Avveraage...
A LEVEL, 3, POINT, 0,
Baating Average...

It might not always get off the ground,
But keep this rule around,
It's really quite simple you say...
It's easy, okay?

You gotta have a:
LEVEL, 3, POINT, 0,
Baaating Avveraage...
A LEVEL, 3, POINT, 0,
Baating Average...

I felt like writing a song.

Yup, you'd basically just hand the FLA - which should have all the movement animations - to him.

That looks about right, but I'm afraid it's not giving any results.

Do I need to already have text in the text field? And do I post the code in the frame containing the button, or the actual button (in which case that doesn't work)...

Response to: Changing Dynamic Text Fields Via As Posted January 14th, 2008 in Game Development

At 1/14/08 01:27 PM, Psycho wrote: textbox = text

That makes the dynamic textbox by the variable name of 'textbox', say 'text'. It's as simple as that :D

First code I tried.

Unfortunately there's no cigar. Nothing happens. It may have something to do with the fact that the Dynamic Text Box is inside an object...

I do believe that's the only 'I DON'T get laid' confession on NG.

And I like a bit of hair, personally, but not too much.

I have a series of 8 Button objects, each with a dynamic text label in them, which I'm trying to have change in each frame using AS.

(This is so I don't have to create 15000 button objects for a quiz.)

I'm trying to code something that will allow me to change the text in the dynamic text box, but I'm failing. So far all I've got is something along the lines of naming one of the text boxes 'Answer1', and placing something along the lines of set(Answer1, "Answer1Text"); every frame, with the number changing for each button. It would save a lot of space.

But, it's not working. I'm not too good at ActionScript, but I can tell I'm going the wrong way. Could anyone give me a TIP, not code, as to what I should be doing?

(I checked AS: Main, but got no luck. And I'm using AS2, not 3, if it helps...

Also, I have another, more odd request. I need someone to make a semi-official letterhead for this prank I'm pulling. Essentially, it needs to look like a letterhead that a legal group would use. It'll also need to be used for email and printing, if that's possible.

Make it what you want, but it has to look real, if you can.

I'm willing to say that South Park is more popular Family Guy + The Simpsons.

This is based on the amount of illegal downloads, though. And I'm a strong believer against that.

However, really, South Park is really funny. And they're the ones who first pointed out that Family Guy is just a string of unrelated jokes.

If you could somehow get his mailing address? Ask him for it with the incentive of clearing his name (but not really). Word it so that you don't get caught in a lie when you mail him a legit looking document with charges on it.

This sounds like a good idea, but I think mailing things like that would get you in real trouble if you get caught. There's mail felonies and stuff out there. I don't know...

Oh, that is genius. And from my understanding, that's not a crime in Australia.

Thank god I'm at work, and I have a hell of a lot of Pay-To-Use databases at my fingertips. I'll see if I can grab his mailing address, as well as contacting him.

Any ideas for an official looking letterhead?

When I was little, I used to get scared by the centipedes that would pop out of the walls in 'A Bug's Life'.

No kidding. They made me scream.

But now, I find - god, I can't remember the level. 343 Guilty Spark, I think, in Halo, is genuinely... disconcerting. Not scary, but very tense. Makes you nervous. Especially with the radio, the fog, and the cutscenes...

And I haven't played any of the Resident Evil series.

But you signed up for this job. We've paid you a great deal under the impression you're a top of the range animator.

YOU'VE LIED TO US ALL THIS TIME?

Return our money, now! This is unfair!
Damn you!.................shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii iit i never signed up for nuthing with the Kitty Kat shit.
I'm contacting my lawyer. Expect to hear from him.
ok den i will
My lawyer says I can sue under the recent Ross v. Tweed of last year, which dealt with breach of an informal contract, where the amount of money was significant. As the creator, I also have rights to bring it into an Australian court, which would involve added expenses to your account. Surely we can settle this simply. Admit your mistake, and return the $550 we paid you to create this flash, and we won't have to take this further.

I doubt there'd be an extension to do this for Flash 8. You could always just do your work in Illustrator and import it into Flash. Flash reads EPS and AI files VERY well.

Yes, it does, but the thing is, moving the lines to make animation easier just can't happen...
