Really, it depends on what your friend likes. Sims 3 and Fallout 3 are two completely different games and both of them are awesome, but Sims 3 comes out in June so he should get Fallout 3.

It was a matter of freetime and connections, last GDC they got a hold of Miyamoto and just asked him if he could make an appearance in their skit and he was happy to do it. I assume the same thing happened, but Mega64 is going to explain it on their podcast tomorrow(hopefully).
