Response to: "Shakey" Line Effect Posted January 29th, 2011 in Animation

I remember this effect being achieved back in Flash 8 by creating a second frame and smoothing the lines a couple of times. Honestly though, I haven't used smooth in Flash CS4 and I don't even know if it's a feature.

Redrawing the lines will give the best results, though.

If the one on the left were lineless it would look nicer in the game, however, being quite generic levels the old character seems like the better choice.

Response to: what do you think? Posted January 25th, 2011 in Animation

You've got some skill, that much is evident, but you need to clean up your tweens. The fat guys arm jumps around a bit when going "all in", and you can see the tears in the separate movieclips. The sunglasses on the other guy also move around without any intent, so it makes it look extremely unfinished.

I'd comment more but I have to leave for college first, suitably my first lesson being Computer Animation.

I'd say stick with it.

Says who? It's all a preference of syntax. The only reason why they are prevalent in ActionScript is because it's just the norm. For other languages (especially Ruby and Python) you almost never see or use semi-colons, even though they are just as optional. But that doesn't mean it's bad practice.

Says shit tons of people. A lot of the more intrigued game developers that start out with Flash begin to move from scripts to languages, and generally C++ which requires semi-colons at the end of a statement, so it is good practice to use them or at least acknowledge it to be worth while.

Gust is right, it just ate up my RAM, as soon as I closed it up my RAM went back to normal.
Considering Macs usually have less RAM, this would explain what causes it to lag.

Haven't looked into it but I'd suspect it's because most memory in Macbook's has a max speed of 667Mhz, I know mine does at least. Mac's don't generally have less RAM.

I'm not trying to slate the idea or the collab itself, but part of the charm of the "troll" physics images was the fact they were poorly drawn.

If you can pull it off I'll be voting 5.

Response to: Two Clips - Please Critique Posted January 14th, 2011 in Animation

The character in the first seems extremely static. You did well on the frame by frame on the legs when he bends down, but other than that it's nothing special. Give him more life, simplify him a bit to be able to use frame by frame animation. Splitting him up into separate parts isn't a bad way of animating, however, I'd recommend FBF for it.

The second clip I wont even comment, it's just a loop and some filters.

I can open the files aftert the popus, but there's no layout.

I looked in the folder where it mentioned the missing file and it's actually there, I uninstalled and reinstalled it 3 times already, this hasn't fixed the problem, I'm stuck :/

After the alert, go to Window > Workspace and try to choose a different one or reset the current one. If none are there, create a new workspace.
