Obama says a lot of things.

On July 30 of this year, a House committee voted against a Republican amendment offered by Rep. Nathan Deal that would have required health care providers to use the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) Program to prevent illegal aliens from receiving government health care services. All Republicans and five Democrats voted for it, but 29 Democrats voted against it, killing the amendment.

Response to: What if YOU were the last atheist? Posted September 26th, 2009 in General

Agnosticism = lack of knowledge of god's existence

Atheism = Lack of belief in the existence of god

Therefore, atheism and agnosticism are not mutually exclusive.

it's impossible not to have an opinion (as opposed to knowledge) as to whether god exists.

You either believe he exists or doesn't exist.

"Do you believe god exists or do you believe he doesn't exist?"

"neither."

Doesn't make sense.

Itd be a far better world if people made things to help other or for passion instead of for personal gain.

yep, more liberal fantasy land feel-good politics.

instead of saying what things would be like in your perfect little socialist world, you need to consider the implications of actions in the real world.

Getting rid of patents won't make people suddenly unmotivated by greed and filled witha sense of duty to their fellow man.

Changing the system doesn't change the people.

yeah, but the main function of government is to protect it's people, police being the way to do so, so taxes are justified in this instance.

Forcing a tax raise on people for a service they won't use and is not constitutionally justified, that's when it's not right.

I'm saying it's wrong to point out the extremists and use them to dismiss a whole political movement.

Argue the ideas, not the people who claim to hold them.

However throwing around words like socialism, tyranny, critical mass and various other hard hitting words doesn't really counter argue the issues. All it does it hit up a bunch of hate and anger in people who are angry at the government because they are in a crises at the moment.

But socialism is where Obama is steering America to, essentially, so it's a rather fitting word to use.

I also believe I saw one woman with a sign that said, "Impeach Obama" which made me giggle.

You have got to be fucking kidding me.

Do you have ANY IDEA the number of moronic liberals who were running around yelling to "impeach Bush!" claiming he was responsible for 9/11?

So it just seemed like a huge "I'm angry at the government protest."
This confuses me as to what they are really there for. To keep capitalism alive and well in a free market? Is that what they are there for?
Please explain to me what these protests are about because it is such a huge mixed bag that I never know what anyone is there for.

Given that you've made a whole topic out of it, this is probably something you should have asked long ago.

However, given America's woefully biased media I suppose I can't really blame you for not knowing.

Primarily, the tea parties are about protesting against wasteful government spending, increases in national debt, increases in taxes and the unnecessary and harmful expansion of government.

I'm against UHC, but I'm surprised why it's supporters never point to Australia as an example. Here we have a public health system, but you can get private insurance if you wish, and you get a half-decent rebate for doing so.

I don't think it's a great system, but it's sure as hell better than most of the countries they hold up as examples.

1. Tea PARTIERS, not tea baggers.

2. Bigot? Ha! Who's doing the name-calling now, huh?

3. Uninformed? I'll tell you who's uninformed. Liberals who practice 'feel good' politics without any regard for the practical consequences of their actions.

70,000! 70,000 fucking people out there shouting bigotry, idiocy and support for Glenn Beck which is a combination of the two.

Most people at the 9/12 protests weren't there because of Glen Beck.
There was a WHOLE other group of people doing there own thing.

They are out there yelling and screaming and literally saying nothing. It's a combination of anger and fear over health care, birthers and cries that Obama is a terrorist.

1. They have good reason to be angry
2. >99% of Obama's detractors aren't birthers. Even those who are are just using it as a means to an end, rather than something they are legitimately concerned about.
3. I haven't heard him be called a terrorist.

Now you have people shouting socialism as it has become just a dirty word to call someone without actually knowing what socialism is.

Socialism is a terrible thing, and it's hard to see how Obama doesn't at least hold a fundamentally socialist philosophy.

The most offensive, and I expressed my opinion when liberals did this to Bush, was the use of Nazi imagry and people calling Obama Hitler.

yeah most people don't do that.

I mean only months ago certain democrats were the ones calling republicans nazis.
Both sides do it, so you can't point the finger at conservatives when liberals do it as much as well.

I am so tired of that shit. That is the lowest of the low and such an ignorant scare tactic. I implore these people who think they are in the right for using such imagery to go to a Holocaust museum and figure what Hitler really did. I bet you not a goddamned one even can fathom what the Holocaust was. He was a man who advocated extreme fascism and control over Europe. Not only that, but he nearly succeeded in wiping out an entire group of people. One group gone from the face of this Earth and they want to compare our President to a monster like that.

For fuck's sake, we're talking about an extreme minority here. Move the fuck on.

So, my fellow Americans. I don't think we can sit back and allow this bullshit to happen anymore. We are basically letting these people trample over decency and logic and letting fear and idiocy run wild.

They shouldn't be allowed to?

So you don't even believe in freedom of speech?

Fuck you, you're the embarrassing one.

If you are right-wing I implore that you stay away from these extremist because they are no good for this country at all.

yeah, we don't need people to stand up for freedom and liberty. Pssh, like those things really matter amirite??
