Yeah, I suppose Cryptomnesia was supposed to be the opposite of Octahedron. Zach Hill held back even less than Thomas does. But I could tell Cedric just sang over previously-recorded music so easily at times. And it wasn't really the same style of music that TMV plays, but still a fairly decent record.

Was the show really that great? I've seen in a couple times and it was pretty alright. Didn't know it had a big fanbase though, otherwise why would the cancel it.

"Octahedron" is the upcoming 5th album by prog-rock band The Mars Volta, set for release on June 23. The guitarist Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and singer Cedric Bixler-Zavala have said that it's a more mellow and acoustic album (if you listen to TMV you know that's not their usual MO).

A few songs have been leaked already. Two of them are the singles for the US (SInce We've Been Wrong) and UK (Cotopaxi). Two are acoustic, two are more of the usual TMV rock sound. Most of their singles have been softer songs compared to whats on the actual album (if you're not a fan, mayhaps you've heard their old songs "Televators" and "The Widow").

As a huge fan, I can't wait for it to come out. Their last album was very fast paced and chaotic, so I suppose a more mellow album is the logical next step, since their sound changes a lot from album to album. The singer is singing more normally, holding back on the falsetto that sometimes turn people off the band. And their new drummer is holding back a lot since the last album, which depending on how much you liked their old drummer, can be a good or bad thing. I'm not that much of a fan of acoustic music, but this is pretty decent.

The reason Black music used to have soul is because they were always being put down by the White Man. They needed that to give them spirit and inspiration. Now that we let em go around doin whatever they please, they have nothing to make music about except stupid shit like cars and money and getting bitches and whatnot.

They should cancel the Office next. Or create a spinoff where it's just Pam & Jim so they can have a whole show full of loveydovey bullshit so that Office can go back to being comedy.

The only bad thing I've had with hydrocodone is taking too much and getting nauseous. Were your vicodin like 7.5/750 or 5/500? Most I've done of 7.5 is like 3 or 4, and done like 5 or 6 of the 5.

Hm, now that I think about it there really haven't been any great bands of the 2000s yet. There's a few others I listen to such as Animal Collective or Mindless Self Indulgence (but I'd only consider AC's last 2 albums and MSI's first 2 albums great) and I was only considering bands whose whole discography I like. Also, all the ones you mentioned are awful, especially Paramore.
