EWW! Lice spread through the first grade when I was there, but for whatever reason, I wasn't affected. I do remember having to take a letter home from the nurse though.

Wade, do any of your kids have stuffed animals, like teddy bears? Better wash those too--lice like hiding there.

The end result was my neck of the woods getting 11 inches of snow. Other areas got more. As I expected, I still had class Friday.

Violent nothing. The Splatterhouse games are there, albeit with some warnings. Maybe Midway won't give them the rights?

Did your buddy call child protective services? Because that is seriously fucked up. Babies cry. They're babies. That's what they do. The kid might wind up dead if that keeps up.

I bought a crapload of turnips this week...only to have crap prices. Hopefully either my town or a friend's town has decent prices tomorrow or I'm gonna take a huge loss.

13.5 degrees out with humidity high enough for fog...so the fog is freezing in midair, and the high winds are blowing it around. Seriously, WTF?

Response to: Official Blizzard 12/8-12/10 Topic Posted December 10th, 2009 in General

Okay, seriously, WTF? According to Weather Underground, the weather outside is snow and freezing fog. We have over 90% humidity, so it's foggy...and it's 13.5 degrees, so IT'S FREEZING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SKY. WTF.

I can't see out my front window anymore. There's so much blowing snow it's all stuck to the screen.

Response to: Official Blizzard 12/8-12/10 Topic Posted December 10th, 2009 in General

The snow is here. There are bands coming off the lake. Wind is very gusty, and it's causing a lot of blowing and drifting snow. It's also icy. Had a hard time coming back from class tonight. They're calling for at least a foot of snow.

It's 13 degrees out. My car horn is frozen. It's making this wimpy little sound now.

It touched down in Oil Creek State Park. I haven't heard any damage reports yet.

Right now, we're getting minimal snow up here, but more in the snowbelt areas, as expected. Still windy as all hell. Depending on the weather later, I may ask Dad to drive me to class. He has 4-wheel drive. I like to tell people I have no-wheel drive since when it gets icy, you never know when my wheels will turn.

According to the updated weather forecast for my neck of the woods, a lot will be riding on what the front decides to do. If it sits stationary over the Great Lakes, the lake effect snow machine will really kick in...and we'll get snow squalls and thunder at the same time. It's rare, but not unheard of.

We still have high winds and it's been snowing here for a while now. The main concern is blowing and drifting snow making travel difficult.

Response to: Official Blizzard 12/8-12/10 Topic Posted December 9th, 2009 in General

Still have wicked wind here, and it's been snowing on and off. Roads are a bit slick. It's snowing now. We're under a lake effect snow warning until Saturday.

Pennsylvania has had some freaky-ass weather today. Some of us got rain, some ice, some snow...and the folks down in Venango County had a tornado touch down.

Earlier today we had torrential rain and high wind at the same time. That was not fun to drive in.

Response to: Official Blizzard 12/8-12/10 Topic Posted December 9th, 2009 in General

I live where GOS is talking about, so I can confirm it.

Wind howled all night since midnight. Could barely sleep. It blew over the dumpsters outside, but the garbage crew fixed them this morning. A nearby port-o-potty from a construction crew was knocked down and it hasn't been picked up yet. Wouldn't want to use it after that anyways.

I will head to class early, since it sounds like there's a lot of downed power lines and whatnot. The only school closing here is a private school that closes at the drop of a hat anyways.

Response to: Official Blizzard 12/8-12/10 Topic Posted December 9th, 2009 in General

Wind has begun howling outside. I have no snow pictures because it's now all rain after the freezing rain came through. My thermometer says it's 34 degrees out.

On the previous poster's map, if you circle the "chimney" part of Pennsylvania under Lake Erie, that's where I am.

It appears that the lake effect snow will occur late Wednesday-early Friday. The direction of the system will send the snow bands northeast (about the Buffalo area) when they're done here. We may get over a foot of snow.

When the lake effect snow machine kicks in up here, the snow will be blinding and continuous.

I'm gonna go to bed soon. I have a class tomorrow morning, and who knows what the driving conditions will be like. I have a small car, so it may be hard to stay on the road.

Response to: Official Blizzard 12/8-12/10 Topic Posted December 8th, 2009 in General

Apparently we are now getting freezing rain. There is a guy in a BMW doing donuts outside in the parking lot.

Response to: Official Blizzard 12/8-12/10 Topic Posted December 8th, 2009 in General

According to the latest special weather statement here, it is currently freezing rain in northeast Ohio. It's moving east and should come through here soon.

The concern is lake effect snow afterwards. They're calling for the potential of a foot or more.

I'd kinda like to see class cancelled on Thursday, though that's highly doubtful. :P

Response to: Gamer Chicks Posted December 8th, 2009 in Video Games

Girls that I consider gamer girls don't draw attention to the fact they're female. They just jump right in and play. I get the "OMG YOU'RE A GIRL?!" a lot, even here on NG, just because I never mention it until someone finds out. I don't consider my being female to be a factor in gaming.

As for the ones who do draw attention to being female or have gamer tags like BaByGuRl5555 or whatever, they're attention whores. Disregard them.

I'm in northwestern PA, right by the lake. What worries me is driving to class tomorrow, depending on when the ice/snow starts. I got stuck in a snow squall Saturday when the salt trucks hadn't been out and a five-minute drive took 30.

We've been put under a high wind warning here, and it's posted until Thursday. More warnings will probably come. I'm beginning to wonder if I shouldn't get my outdoor temperature gauge off the balcony outside. (I have one of those atomic clocks with indoor/outdoor temperature.) Oh, and where I live, we are very, very used to lake effect snow. Of course, just because we're used to it doesn't mean we can handle it...

Here's a current map from Weather Underground. For some real fun, check out the Severe Weather link and look at the warnings posted and where.

I went to the grocery store today and pretty much bought nothing but noodles. My cart was full of ramen and mac and cheese...with yogurt and a head of lettuce in there. I must not be in the mood to cook this week. Well, that and ramen is cheap. I have also wanted to eat mac and cheese for a while now.

I haven't had this issue since junior year of college. I absolutely do not want to do this assignment. I do not like it. Of course I'm going to do it because I don't want to flunk, but it is only slightly more entertaining than getting disemboweled by a shark. Thankfully this is the only required business-type class, because the trimester just started and I already dislike the material. How do you folks deal with not wanting to do an assignment?

As for the reading, I've read it already and don't like it, but I've taken down the pertinent notes, at least. I keep wondering if my buddy Jose Cuervo would make any of this more interesting.

Also, thanks to lake effect snow, what is normally a five-minute drive from the mall took 30.

Response to: Porn Stars' Parents Posted December 5th, 2009 in General

Sunny Lane's parents help manage her career. I find it creepy, especially when I read something about Sunny's mom going in to have one of those blow-up dolls made of her daughter. I guess they're her pimps, but technically, that's no different than what Joe Simpson does with Jessica and Ashlee.

Some porn stars can hide their careers well. Haley Paige's father had no clue what she did for a living until three weeks before her death. Years ago, there was a fight and she stormed out, and that was the first he had heard from her since then.

Response to: Middle Names - Useless. Posted December 5th, 2009 in General

My dad wasn't given a middle name when he was born. On the other hand, I know some people who dislike their first names and use their middle names.

In the news, middle names are used to differentiate capital murder suspects and other loonies. For example, there's always the chance of another Lee Oswald out there, but not a Lee Harvey Oswald.

I don't think much about my middle name (Elizabeth) except for using the middle initial "E" to sign documents. It's a fairly common one, but I don't dislike it. My dad thought I should have at least one name out of the Bible. A fat lot of good that did me, LOL.

Two days ago there was a planned power outage while power lines were laid. The electric company dug up my phone line and it just got fixed. What did I miss?

Response to: - The Regulars Lounge Thread - Posted December 2nd, 2009 in Politics

Well, since I have spent a good part of the night screwing around and playing games, hopefully tomorrow I will be more productive. Maybe it's because we didn't get any real assignments in class. I did do some of the reading so it's not like the night was completely wasted. Still, right now I have to convince myself to get off the computer and go do something else, even just sitting in bed with my DS.

Tomorrow the power will be out here for a while since the power company is laying down new lines for the nearby buildings that are scheduled to open soon. I set the alarm on my phone so hopefully I get up and get to class in time. What bugs me is that if the power is out the full time from 8 AM-3 PM, it's gonna be cold in here. I remember in February when we had that ice storm when I lived in Ohio. The power was out for about 24 hours and it got down to 46 degrees in my apartment. My neighbor was afraid of freezing to death. Myself, even though I had the day off, I went to work to warm up and recharge my cell phone and other electronic devices. I don't think this outage will be that major, but that memory remains in my mind.

I wonder how many people have something stupid and easy to guess like "cake." Though on the same token, if someone REALLY wanted to get into your account in particular, they'd find a way to do it.

I wonder though...were the people who had their accounts compromised recently hacked or phished? Because there's a difference.

Response to: My Cat's Pregnant Posted December 1st, 2009 in General

I realize this is after the fact, but couldn't you just avoid this in the future by getting her spayed?

Your best option would probably be giving the kittens away. Attempting an abortion or doing something to the kittens carries a high possibility of an animal cruelty charge, which is a felony in a lot of areas--I know it is in my state. I suppose you could get the cat an abortion with the help of a vet, but cat abortions is not a subject I think about often so I couldn't tell you.

I guess I can sort of feel good about myself. I pretty much blew my Thanksgiving break playing Hands of War. I had already played the guy's other games and was looking for an RPG, and found Shadowreign. I poked around his site wondering if he'd done any more and he had. So I PMed him last night and asked if he was making or submitting any more RPGs. Today I checked my inbox and he had just submitted Shadowreign to the Portal, where it's doing well. He was really happy I like his work.

And when I'm procrastinating, like I will soon, I'll play Shadowreign. XD

Response to: Ok girls I give up... Posted December 1st, 2009 in General

Toys are nice and all, but I prefer being with my boyfriend. There's the obvious intimacy/love factor, and there are also things/sensations that a toy cannot duplicate.

Also, those jackrabbit vibrator things? Those scare the hell out of me. If I turned on a motor or something too high I'd probably injure myself.

Response to: X-mas sucks Posted November 30th, 2009 in General

When the holiday season REALLY sucks is when you work retail. I worked at Target for the evening/night shift of Black Friday in 2007. While I thankfully did not have to deal with the initial crowds, I had to pick up after them when the store closed and was there three extra hours. The nice thing is I got paid overtime for that. It was still quite crowded and we got slammed though.
