What the hell was Cleveland thinking, sending Campbell out a second time? He was already reinjured. I know Weeden sucks and all, but you at least want him to TRY and get healthy for the next season, if not the rest of the season. Letting a guy get that banged up just shortens a football career.
So, Minnesota and Green Bay ended in a tie? Not exactly a satisfying end to a rivalry game, though it got very competitive near the end all of a sudden.
With Miami losing today, the AFC Wild Card race suddenly looks like more of a tossup, especially if they continue to slide and the other teams in the hunt (Pittsburgh/Cincinnati/Baltimore/etc.) suddenly begin winning more games.
Whoever loses Steelers/Browns is done for the season. The Browns had a Cinderella story going there for a bit, but then Brian Hoyer got injured and he's done for the season. I bet he's starting QB next year though. The Browns losing him allowed the Bengals to rise to the top of an otherwise mediocre AFC North.
Packers/Vikings is the big rivalry game today. I still think the Packers will win, especially with the musical chairs QB scenario the Vikings have going on. But they're reeling without Rodgers. I don't see them clinching any division titles without him.
A Russian photographer used an old lens and taped it to his camera to take extreme close-up photos of snowflakes. (He goes into specifics in a linked blog post in case anyone cares.) The results are pretty amazing.
How the hell does one manage to be allergic to red wine? I can drink any other kind of alcohol and not have itching or swelling in weird places.
The husband and I are looking at paint swatches for the house we're buying. Apparently we have two different ideas of what constitutes "green." The bedroom is getting painted some shade of green because they've got some weird contemporary shit going on in there.
The baby's room, which I plan to use as an office, definitely needs repainted. It's got some sort of mural with a poem about sunshine. OMFG, it is awful. And I've never understood why people have elaborate murals painted in a baby's room. It's cute when they're babies, but once they turn 8 or 9, it will embarrass the hell out of the kid. Then you just have to paint over it and all your effort was wasted. Also, if you're selling your house, it will either scare away potential buyers, or whoever does buy it will get rid of it anyway (like we are).

Looks like that bullying scandal really rocked @Zachary's Dolphins.
Yeah. My first thought was "Jesus Christ, they lost to the BUCCANEERS?"
Unsurprisingly, Martin isn't returning to the team. Hopefully he can find a team where the locker room isn't full of fifth graders on ego/power trips. I get the whole "give the rookies a hard time" deal, and toughening them up in general, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that racial intimidation and extortion are downright unacceptable.
Speaking of things that would rock the Dolphins, I would not be surprised to see some heads roll in the organization depending on what the investigation entails. There's no way the coaching staff did not realize this was going on.
They creep me out. Then again, so does the idea of making nonbelief a religion. OK, I get atheism. But...turning your nonbelief into a belief system? Huh?

I'm afraid that's the direction they're heading. They did fairly well last year, but crashed in the postseason.
I also have my reservations about Andy Dalton. Sure, he's a decent quarterback, but right now, he's just average. If he wants to make it to the Super Bowl, let alone the playoffs, he needs to step it up.
I remember when I was living in Ohio, I was sitting near a window at a restaurant. One of the cars outside had one of those Bengals plates overlays that said "WHO DEY?" on top. The vanity plate read "SOMEDAY." I remember how much that amused me. "Someday" is getting closer, but they're not there yet.

The Bengals are most likely going to clinch the AFC North just by how crappy all the other teams in it are playing. But I'm surprised with what's happened to the team. They looked pretty solid when I watched them play the Steelers, but now they're giving up plays.
I'm happy with a Steelers win, at least.

That is really surprising me. Also, I don't see Green Bay pulling out a win. They're reeling without Aaron Rodgers.
Finally, a touchdown. I was pissed when Ben threw that interception. I've been occasionally wondering if he's already washed up. Everyone can predict what he'll do now. They've caught on. Todd Haley is right, he has to change up his play style. Then again, a LOT of changes need to be made to the Steelers, which I've previously mentioned.
Hmm, Jacksonville may pull out a win today. Surprising.
Dammit. Now I'm hungry.

My thoughts exactly.
The situation with the Dolphins is getting interesting. I think everyone can expect pranks and a bit of screwing around on an NFL team, but continually running up bills and sticking one guy with them is fucked up. I'm pretty sure that's extortion too. Makes me wonder what else may be going on there.
I'm surprised the Jets/Saints and Vikings/Cowboys games are so close. I was expecting those to be a bit more lopsided.

The mainstream plans do, but employers can apparently pick and choose what they do and don't cover. Which the lawsuits are trying to stop, but we'll see what happens.

Really? I thought the UK was more enlightened than that. Can the customer at least be referred elsewhere?
A court ruled the contraceptive mandate violates religious business owners' rights.
OK, so we all know Obamacare is one giant clusterfuck, but that's not the topic here. The article isn't clear as to whether it's addressing your run-of-the-mill birth control pills or the morning after/abortion pill. That could possibly make a difference.
Full disclosure: I've been on the Pill since I was 16 for a health condition. My situation is probably different insurance-wise because it was prescribed for medical reasons. I never had any trouble getting coverage under my parents' plan or at any of the jobs I've held. When I was unemployed, I paid out of pocket. My particular pill was $23 a month, which adds up to $276 per year. So unless that friend of Sandra Fluke's needed that particular brand/type of contraceptive, she was being seriously ripped off.
That addresses the cost part of it. But what about the "personal liberties" part? I can see both sides of the issue. I wouldn't want to be put out by an employer for needing to pay for something, but I don't like having to pay for things I find morally objectionable myself, like Obamaphones. I think the free market would be the best solution here. OK, go ahead and not cover contraceptives, but don't be surprised if people quit or don't work for you. Honestly, even without that coming into play, they sound like assholes and not a place I want to work at. If it's that important to you, get an individual policy or work at a place that covers that sort of thing. Sure, it's important to me, but definitely not something I would quit over.
Now if I head to the pharmacy every month, I don't pay for the Pill. You're probably thinking "yay, free birth control!" Not quite. If you look closely at the receipt, it's only free since I have insurance. So, anyone uninsured would still be paying. Probably a way to try and force people on Obamacare/whatever.
Probably drink a bit. Maybe video games and a couple of movies.
At least my day went better than the Steelers did. We were busy buying a house, which explains my lack of NFL viewing today, with the exception of lunch. The Giants had an ugly win, but a win is a win. Also, what happened to the Dolphins? They were ahead when I was there. And Peyton Manning is injured? Hadn't heard that one.
I wonder when the NFL will have games in the UK people actually want to watch. Dolphins have a huge fan base there though, which is something.
I thought the Steelers were getting it together after last week, but I should have known.
We're buying a house. We made an offer today that was accepted. If all goes well, we'll be out of this apartment in December.

She's no longer with Femen, but this woman quit the group for its "Islamophobia," which indicates to me there may be an idealogical divide forming. It could be just her, but I wonder if any of the other women have a similar opinion.
I can see where the whole topless protest thing would turn off a lot of Muslim women who might otherwise listen to them though.

Unfortunately for you, I hate beer. I prefer hard spirits. I actually managed to impress a bartender in Vegas last week with how quickly I finished off a couple of shots of vodka. Either she was new or I was really good, considering what goes on over there. She looked young, so I'm going with the former.
Too bad I don't still live 2 1/2 hours away from Cincy. Almost made it there to watch a game when tickets were $65, but I had to work.
Something tells me this Josh Freeman isn't a very good quarterback. I've seen drunks piss with more accuracy than he threw.
The whole team though. Dear God. Losing that badly to the Giants is like losing a game of checkers to an iguana.

Probably the same bitch that told me that wearing a low-cut tank top on a really hot day in July was perpetuating rape culture. No, really. I didn't even KNOW her.
There's Femen, but they're not Islamic as far as I know. Where are you hearing about this sort of thing?

Turnovers are still negative, but I imagine the number will rise if they continue screwing up.
Happy birthday! Remember: drink water. Otherwise, you get a visit from the Hangover Fairy.
Steelers win by a field goal. What a great game.
They're not where I'd like them to be but they played halfway decently today. Also a lot of boneheaded mistakes by Baltimore.
Most candy is sweet. Occasionally you get sour stuff like those Warhead things or whatever they're called.
I love Snickers bars. I wasn't allowed to eat them when I had braces as a teenager, but I did anyway and broke them every now and then as a result.
The Steelers won last week. Either it was because of Geno Smith or because I wasn't watching. Who knows?
My TV receiver crapped out while I was away. The husband messed around with the rabbit ears so I can at least get the games on CBS, but we need a longer-term solution for TV in general. Sure, I have NFL Mobile, but I'd rather not squint at a tiny screen.
The Steelers and the Ravens are both crap this year, so the Steelers have a shot. I know Super Bowl champions are never the same teams afterward, but I didn't expect the Ravens to be flailing so much. They need Ray Rice to step up.
Hmm, Buffalo is killing it so far. A little surprised.

That show sounds amazing .
It was. Interestingly enough, there's a comic book adaptation of it floating around too, I hear. I'm not sure if all the books are out yet though.
I'd like to see another Cirque show next time my husband and I head back there. They're all so different. He was interested in this one because he's into martial arts. Getting his brown belt in aikido was a big deal here.
I'm back from Vegas! What did I miss?
We had a lot of fun. My husband and I went to see Cirque de Soleil's KA. The show was phenomenal, but what impressed me is how the lights and riggings were built right into the set and scenery.
And before anyone asks: yes, that is the show where a performer died in June. They use motorized airbags, not safety nets, below the stage. However, the performer's safety harness failed, and she fell 70 feet to her death. The airbags were not enough to save her. After a month of being dark, the show relaunched with some modifications.
I hear they may be retiring the show soon. In that case, I'm REALLY glad we went.
