I just gotta say, that I feel a little sorry for Erkie.
Here he comes with a great idea of making a BATTLE (note; it never said song contest, it said BATTLE. There are slight differences, the way I see it), and what happenes?
There are like 12 submission (or something) from different artists.
But these "battlers" seem to take things waaaaay too serious. Instead of whta I think Erkie meant with the battle, ppl get pissed on each other for different stupid reasons. All of this because of a "battle". this aint (as far as im concerned?!) an official competition at all, its simply a fun thing for anyone who wanna get their songs listened too and judged by amateur judges.

So plz, take the battle for what it was, and chill the fuck out. Nothing have changed after the judges had done their parts, your songs still sound the same, there never were any big money or land involved in the prices, some ppl might have thought that they´d get the princess if winning, though...

I feel sorry for Erkie, that there are difficult people who messes about and takes out the spirit of the whole thing by complaining, "fighting", and just being straight out assholes. There are positive things though, i´ve seen you´ve gotten much feedback of how to imrpove this contest. That is, if u´re willing to make a sequel.
I hope u do, cause the basic idea´s a fun thing that might push ppl and make em improve their skills.

Feel free to check out some of my stuff.

I have made some weird ass experimental electronica or whatever, songs that are, if I myself might say so, quite original, and I can easily pick out shorter loops from them.
I would like to recommend you to especially check out "DirtySpaceboy" and "Never Having Second Thoughts" for original feeling. Than if you want something more typical "techno-videogame" sounding perhaps "Initiative" or perhaps "Direct Your Wrath To Me". If you are looking for something more "upbeat happy" check out "Yours Truly!". All these songs are made with care, and arent just scribbled together in five minutes.

I´ve done some other stuff too, and if you like what you hearm I got a really heavy industrial track coming up that sounds like machines. Seriously, it does :D

Did ParagonX9, probably the most acclaimed music artist on the AP use fruityloops? No he did not. He used Reason 2.5. I use Reason 3.0, both of which are software which requires reasonable ammounts of musical knowledge to even get started in the first place.

I can´t by any means agree to what u´ve said here. U use Reason, so do I.. Reason aint that damn complicated, the first program I learned was FastTracker2, from scratch all by myself. THAT was complicated. Reason was easy compared to that, not saying that I´m an expert on reason, but I know how to make a tune :D

People use different software for different reasons, I use reason and I am learning cubase. I have never tried out FL, but im sure there are many advantages (except the price tag), since many people decide to go for tha program. And as for producing
same style of music, it´s not the program that decides what preset´s/samples u wanna use, u do. Correct me if im wrong though, like i said i have no knowledge of FL. As for Reason, I use the soundbanks included as little as possible. More fun using the synths and making your "own" sounds. But that´s up to the individual. Not everyone has the time to do learn that stuff.

Anyway, this thread is for asking questions about FL and I assume that means mainly TECHNICAL questions, so u wont see any more posts by me here (probably). So lets end the bullshit-crap posts here and take the thread seiously. U asked y use FL, think again and there are plenty of reasons to do so.

Anyone who´s got good knowledge of other progs should start up similiar threads for other progs. U feel an urge to help other reason-users, Khuskan? :)

I´m not really into the kind of music that mostly gets submitted here on NG (techno n stuff), i only create it myself. Erm.... My favorite artist by far is Monkeybullman most songs listed under Miscellaneous.

After u´ve burned a music CD that u intend on listening to on regular CDplayers, u must close the CD. When closed, U can´t add any more material onto the CDR. Note; I´m not 100% that it´s actually called "closed" in eng. versions of programs (ive only had swe. v.), hopefully you understand what I mean.

Normally the program will ask you if you wish to do so. If this is not the case, then its possible that u´ve made the CD "wrong" from the beginning, many programs has the possibilite to choose when u start, what type of CD u want (for storage, music, and maybe some other choises). What choises there are depends on your program. Music CD is, of course, the choose you should make. Often u get this choise when starting up the prog.

The thing about the AP is attention.

Everyone who submits songs wants attention in some way, be it by votes, or reviews. Most people probably appreciate the reviws most.
Not everyone who reviews votes, and vice versa.
Problem is though, that high overall score is one way to get attention, since u´ll be high on the list, and thats as I see it the main reason ppl vote 0, so their own songs will "get a boost".
So, when my songs are voted 0 for, I get pissed, like everyone else. Just the fact that someone has "dissed" my songs of no other reason than to make their own shit climb the lists. That is simply not fair to the songs that gets fucked over, and the rated song is in the top with dirty methods. Very often its a song noone really likes too, by some new music maker who just realised he/she can reach the top of the lists that way.

So still, attention is the word, that´s what everyone is after. One other big problem is, that not as many ppl as in the flash portal are visiting the ap, still there are tons of new songs every day. Ppl simply dont have time to reckognize them all.

There are lots of shitty songs popping (pooping) out too, and that too is a problem. The ap dont get the credability it deserves due to this fact, it is difficult to find serious made stuff sometimes. And the hell with the A-Bot´s Weekly Top Five , that shit´s just pathetic. we all know how it works, the one with highest score when page is updated reaches it.

Maybe the blamming system would be a good idea, and i do have something creative to contribute wtih here, not only critisism;
If blamming system would be added to the AP, the song might be on the page for an amount of time, so it can be viewd (listened to) by more people. And to avoid the constant 0 voting, there should be a vote-obstacle, so that u either have to download the song to be able to vote, or listen THROUGH the song first!
This is an example of how it might look, so that people actually would get atteniton, and to me it sounds more exciting :D

Just gonna say that no, i seriously dont like the new graphic either, i want a better overview of the songs that there is now. Maybe better solution of my screen is the ansewer to that tho ;)

If anyone have more examples of how to make the AP better, write them down here, and maybe someone can take them all and send them to Tom or whoever.

Personally i think the whole voting system (scores when reviewing vs simple voting) should be carefully considered, if it really suits the AP at all.
