Lol, sorry for the double post, minor brain burp and I hit the post button prematurely.

Posted: 11/07/09 07:32 AM

Forum: Where is / How to?

Wow, it's been a while hasn't it. I really wish I could be around a little more, but college has gotten to the stage where all I really have time for right now is depositing and a little B/P. Oh well, expect to see a little more of me over the Christmas break.

Good work guys, keep it up.

16 -- michelinman
It was a very close one but congratulations to michelinman for becoming the newest Wi/Ht? Regular! :) Unfortunately, due to sorting by sign-up date to determine the one new regular for this month, Hacsev didn't make it this time but I wish the best of luck for the next update.

Well done to you both, welcome aboard michelinman, and good luck Hacsev, hopefully next month will be your time to shine (speaking of which, if I remember right December was when I got on the list - wow does time ever fly).

No-one was taken off the list due to having at least three outvotes but yet another regular has requested to be taken off the list due to lack of activity. LegolaSS wished to leave the Regulars List and like the previous retired regulars who made this request, he is more than welcome to return if he feels he's up to it again sometime in the future.

Pity, but I understand his sentiments completely. And come back YAW, we miss yew :(

Thanks again for the update man!

Hey guys, sorry for not being more active, but with college and everything I have neither the time to B/P nor the motivation to post much. That being said I'm checking up on the Barracks daily to keep up with matters (and see if Eagle has posted the next chapter of BITB yet :P). Good to see all is quiet in the Portal...oh wait...

Hey guys, at the moment my schedule is quite hectic, and I'm finding my NG time to be quite stretched. To that end I've decided to stop making lists for a while. I'll still read over what's going on and try to keep up with Wi/Ht? but right now I just can't make time for everything.

Don't worry though, I've every intention of coming back :P

Why would you beat something as awesome as that to death?!

Rationality goes out the window when you are confused and scared. Still, it's a pity as it's one of the oddest mutations I've seen in recent times, and will probably provide some further insight into genetics (although it would be hilarious if it turned out on analysis that it was just a lizard which had lost 3 limbs in a fight).

Topic: Your surgical experiences?

Posted: 09/16/09 07:28 AM

Surgery. Let's face it, it's unpleasant at the best of times, as even if all goes well, recovery can (and usually is) rather painful. Just yesterday I had to get a sebaceous cyst removed from my chest, I was under local anesthetic so I was wide awake throughout (and being interested in medicine, I couldn't help taking a peek). However, I've had plenty of experience under the knife, prior to this in July '07 my appendix went from fine to very badly infected in less than 24 hours, although fortunately I acted quickly and got my ass into hospital as fast as I could.

So tell me Newgrounds, have you had surgery before, and what was the overall experience like for you? For those who haven't, would you fear that you might have a bad reaction to anesthetic, or that something else may go awry?

Shitty quality pic related; it's my chest post-op (the blood makes it look worse than it is, it's only a flesh wound).

Your surgical experiences?

Oh, what happened?

I developed a sebaceous cyst on my chest, it wasn't anything problematic but I just got sick of it and decided to get it removed. I was meant to get a lesion on my wrist removed as well but there was a complication with someone else's operation and so there wasn't time. Oh well, I should get it done in January anyway.

I never had surgery before, but if i did i would want to ber out cold. I don't think i would want to watch them cut me open with all of the blood and the fact that it was me and not watching a video of somone else getting it dome.

Well even if you were awake you could just look away or close your eyes, but I'm quite interested in medicine and anatomy, and I have a relatively strong stomach, so I thought if I was going to be awake, why not take a look? Been searching for a while and so far I have come up with nothing, logically it would be the user with the lowest User ID number (other than 1 - which is Tom). Results may be surprising as Wade was only #68.

If you go to someones profile and right-click their profile pic, select "View Image, the last bit of the URL will be somenumber.jpg or .gif. That's their ID number, so unless there's a easier way that's the only way I can think of finding them.

Indeed so but sometimes the choices in such things is inexcusable. :P I mostly dislike Greatest Hits albums if they offer nothing new, unless it's Queen. My other exception would be if I only want one album of a band such as Cannibal Corpse. I don't particularly enjoy them as a whole studio album but a compilation with a disc or two (and not four like the one they have) would be nice.

I'm somewhat similar, if I'm trying to get into a band and see if I like them, if they had some sort of compilation/greatest hits album out I'd buy that as a priority, and depending on what I thought of it get other albums subsequently.

I haven't played Bioshock, but probably the most epic intro I've ever seen is the one from Shadow of the Colossus, then again the whole game is an epic piece of art.
If it's that epic, I refuse to watch it until I get the game. Still need to find a good time to play it and the next PS1/2 game I was going to play was FFIX again.

Fair enough, it's really on an atmospheric and aesthetic level that it stands out, gameplay is fine but nothing spectacular. Personally it's been a while since I played, and I didn't get too far as there was a part I just couldn't figure out, if I find time I might dig it up and play it again as being older I'll appreciate the atmosphere more, and be better equipped to tackle the puzzles.

Exactly, and he did state his reasons as to why he didn't add that moment. You could say I've made a few mistakes on my Top FF tracks list myself and you know what, there could probably be a few changes done to the list but my top 10 will remain intact.
Whenever someone does a top X of Y there'll always be doubts, omissions and second-guessing yourself, so no point worrying about it I suppose :P
Exactly, I even had some people disagreeing with some of my decisions on the list. The one I remember very well is the little amount of FFVIII tracks and I thought was only fair for at least one person to complain about. However, as nice as the FFVIII soundtrack is, I much prefer the others. It still beats FFII, X-2 and XII soundtracks, though.

I suppose the whole thing can be simplified to "it's opinion" and that while a compiler would obviously invest time and thought into choosing worthy entries, there will always be complaints from those with differing opinions. It's like a Greatest Hits album, someone will always bitch that a certain song was omitted, same applies here.

Yeah, I've heard about the epic Oblivion intro, where the vastness of the game world hits you.
Indeed it is, it's right there at the start and you know you've got one hell of a game to play after seeing it. I may have to decide whether this beats the opening in Bioshock or not.

I haven't played Bioshock, but probably the most epic intro I've ever seen is the one from Shadow of the Colossus, then again the whole game is an epic piece of art.

Some of the fuck-ups weren't really fuck-ups since they were more Doug's opinions but yeah, I'm surprised I didn't catch the bulldozer one. I guess he was being too silly towards the film that it didn't really matter, although I didn't see anything nostalgic about Barb Wire.
Yeah, I think the furore over the death of Optimus Prime was undue, I know he said himself he should have included it, but it's a guy on the internets' list at the end of the day.

Should have been clearer, I meant I'll look into getting Oblivion.
Yes, good idea. Oblivion is very much like Morrowind but with a better plot, better combat system and....better in everything. :D The intro feels epic, while Morrowind's felt dull.

Now that's an interesting list. Some mistakes I didn't even notice but hey, at least he admits his own faults unlike the Irate Gamer.
I spotted a few obvious ones like the eyeliner, but some of them like the bulldozer one I somehow missed.
