Man of Honor / Chivalry's Dead - 25G

Why is it called Chivalry's Dead?

If you get the lowest honor rank, it implies that Chivalry, the knights code of being a good person, kind to everyone, protecting the weak and etc, is dead because you basically defied everything it stood for.

Only when both people in a 1v1 situation used the same gun or guns with the same base damage values.

Lets say a guy with an M60 w/ SP started shooting a guy with a P90 w/ Jugg.

The M60 guy is going to win almost every time because that gun with SP is a 2 hit kill at close-to-medium range. That means it's so powerful it will pretty much ignore Juggernaut.

Also, the guy with the P90 could win if he got lucky since it's a 4 hit kill at close range, but at medium range it's a 5 hit kill.

Perhaps that's not the best example, but I hope you get my point. That's why Stopping Power dominates this game.

I see your point, but it doesn't ignore Juggernaut. Juggernaut will atleast give him another hit, and the M60 fires slower than the P90 so if you wanted to be more accurate, the P90 would probably win because it can spray out 4 bullets in under a second. Where everyone is hitting also decides, but the main factor is that Juggernaut gives someone the balance to survive an extra bullet or two when someone's using stopping power, and that can get you the kill.

Modding is pretty sweet on consoles, because only a few people actually do it in public and don't give a shit if they get banned, unlike in PC games where everyone has some mods on at all times. The old mods for Halo 2 were amazing, because you always wanted to shoot plasma grenades out of a ghost and have a full auto sniper.

Not at all. It tasted like shit and I wondered how my mom and uncle put up with inhaling it for all these years.

2. Did you enjoy your second cigarette?

Nope. I stopped smoking after the second because I didn't feel the need to calm down about shit. I felt no pleasure from basically eating shit, or something that tasted close to a nice breath of dog poo.

3. Why did you continue smoking?

I didn't.

4. Doesnt it seem a little stupid to build a chemical addiction the sole point of which is the pleasure gained from fullfilling your cravings which are a consequence of the addiction in the first place?

Yes it does.

5. Do you want to stop smoking? If so or if not why?

I already did.

I honestly don't see how anybody could legitimately dislike Half-Life 2. It's such a polished, near-perfect single-player game. Incredible attention to detail, groundbreaking on so many levels, just like the original.

Sorry if it came off as me disliking it. I love the Half Life games, I just don't like the way he presented it as the best game ever when all he could point out was that it was different when it really wasn't.

Two hours is an extreme exaggeration.

I play modern games with the strange feeling somethings missing from FPS games today--- something games before 2008 had.
I pulled out my dust covered Half Life 2 game that I hadn't played in ages and plopped in in my xbox... and realized I was having more fun playing one mission of Half Life than I was playing the entire campaign of cod 6--- and realized why.

So what is it todays FPS games lack? Difficulty, atmosphere that you can immerse yourself in, SANDBOX GAMEPLAY THAT ACTUALLY HAS VARIETY AND FREEDOM, and interesting weaponry that actually manage to DIFFERENTIATE from each other

And I've lost you. Half Life 2 isn't a sandbox game. Or even close to it, it's still linear. Difficulty in Half Life is pretty funny. I'm not saying that Halo or CoD have any setting that's very hard, but HL2 has to be one of the easiest games I've played. The part about guns is completely wrong aswell because they're just the generic FPS slate with the gravity gun. And the gravity gun and the physics engine were the only great things about Half Life 2.

One of the reoccurring problems of todays games is that they put SP campaign at such a low priority, when in reality it's what makes or breaks a game like ingredients in a sandwich, instead focusing entirely on overbloated multiplayer gameplay and graphics. That's why we're getting so many pathetically short games with good graphics and over advertised multiplayer. WHY?
Not everyone wants to pay 60$ per month just to hear squealing 14 year olds on xbox live. I buy games for THE MAIN REASON GAMES EXIST TODAY, single player campaign. If these "game designers" are so obsessed with multiplayer then my might as well just make MMO's.

Well of course. Developers aren't stupid. They obviously know that the market is in the favor of multiplayer so they're not going to cater so a small percentage of gamers can be happy. They want money, and no matter what you think about valve, they want money too.

Modern Warfare 2 is the epitome of what's wrong with modern shooters today (easily one of the worst campaigns I've ever played), and an easy example of how to NOT make a campaign.
I bought this game for a whopping 60$ after all the hype from corporate slave sites like IGN, GameSpot and It's legion of unexperienced reviewers and I was more disappointed than the Japanese at the end of WW2.

The campaign was short, and yes it wasn't that great. But it was cinematic and pretty damn cool, the atmosphere and even the generic story made it a blast to play through. Also, it's your fault for going with the hype. There's no one to blame but you, because the reviewers gave THEIR OPINIONS about a game. Sure, Activision may have dropped some money to IGN for a higher score, but it's still an opinion, not a fact.

EVERY FPS SEEMS TO ONLY OFFER 2 HOURS TOP GAMEPLAY NOW
Half life 2 took me ages to complete when I first got the game. All different types of stories, puzzles, shooting and missions that encouraged you to play the game over and over and over again
I didn't get that in modern warfare, (the supposed "BEST FPS EVER")
Instead what I got was 1 hour of pathetically weak, linear A to B missions and pointless ingame movies
One real turn-off in MW 2 was that it seemed to rely almost if not ENTIRELY on Follow-the-NPC gameplay.
I was constantly badgered and told WHAT TO DO, WHAT TO PRESS, and WHAT TO SHOOT when I was told to do it and THEY MADE IT A REQUIREMENT IN ORDER FOR THE GAME TO GO ANYWHERE, no freedom in the slightest.
I wasn't challenged at all, and eventually got into the routine of turning around corners shooting retarded enemies turning around another corner, shooting more retarded enemies. That or just let the pseudo-dominant NPC's completely clear the battlefield for you so they can once again yell at you to press X button and get behind X cover.
Thinking about it, the only real fun I had in Modern Warfare 2 were the Favella and stealth snow stages, where I didn't feel so chocked by the leash of my over enthusiastic partners. But those, again, lasted for very short.

Again, 2 hours is an extreme exaggeration. At the very least MW2 would take four hours on normal. And HL2 hardly ever encouraged you to play it over, it was pretty bland to me, but so was Modern Warfare 2. They were both great on the first playthrough. You're also implying that HL2 wasn't FOLLOW the NPC gameplay aswell. Nearly the whole game had you chasing after someone, and even when there were no set directions, it was pretty clear on where to go and what to kill. You're not going to shoot your allies hurrduurr.

I go back to the levels being generic in MW 2 because they are pathetically generic and linear. All the levels are designed for you to go in one particular path all the way through the map while being directed by your NPC's, frequently loosing control of your character everytime the game developers decided they wanna poorly present another one of their post-coldwar fantasy scenes.
In half life I begin the game controlling Gordon F and I end the game controlling Gordon F, no pointless cutscenes, freedom of gameplay, and NPCs that follow YOU, which is more immersive that any overly rendered action sequences.

Sure, the settings in HL2 weren't generic, but they were pretty linear. You had a set objective, and a pretty obvious route on how to get there, but you could take a different turn to get there. It's not OH GAWD SANDBOX as you make it seem. HL2 had cutscenes too, BUT YOU COULD MOVE AROUND OH SHIT AMAZING. The gameplay was hardly free, and NPCs follow you in MW2 too, in the same way.

A lot of people praise modern warfare for it's "vast" array of weapon choices which I didn't really care about. An FN-SCAR was no different to me than an M16, Modern Warfare just had needlessly a lot of automatic weapons, all which seemed to be there to promote it's "realisticness".
In Half Life, all the weapons were unique and served a purpose. There was 1 SMG MP7, which fired automatically, 2 pistols- one weak with a higher rate of fire and more ammo and one very strong but limited, a crowbar, a crossbow, the grenade and rocket launchers, and 2 imo awesome weapons- the combine assult-rifle and the gravity gun.
Clinging to reality in a game is like asking for a sandwich with no meat, it doesn't work and feels out of place. We play games to get away from reality NOT TO CHASE IT

WELL FUCK ME, IT'S THE SAME SLATE OF WEAPONS AS EVERY OTHER GODDAMN SHOOTER EVER. GENERIC SMG, PISTOLS, SNIPER, RPG AND NADES OH WOW. Then the Gravity Gun is cool, but it's hardly used aside from puzzles when you could just mow people down with every other weapon. It's a cool choice, but it's not favored.

Well that's all i have to rant for now
Half Life 2 is by far the best FPS IMO and I don't care what the Xbox 360 fans or IGN has to say.
We need more companies like valve that know gaming and less GIJOE, photo-realistic-cutscene enthusiasts

Shitty Rant, bro. Half Life 2 is pretty damn generic aside from the physics and story. Valve wants money. Other companies want money. You think valve didn't want PHOTOREALISTICCUTSCENES? What do you think HL2 bragged about? Awesome graphics and life like physics.

I only think they will be used extensively in games where there are a lot of campers. I still think sprint will be the most used. I know I will usually go for sprint and jetpack because I need the extra mobility. Still, the hologram is tempting. People say "everyone will catch on eventually" but they don't realize that when you are caught up in the moment there is no time to second guess yourself. If you see someone coming, you shoot. Its pretty much a reflex. Especially if the hologramer is smart enough to equip rockets at the time.

Exactly. There is one thing that I'm wondering though. If you start walking back and use the hologram, does it go backward or forward? Either way it could be used differently because if you shot it backwards into a room, twitchy twitchy goes nuts and runs after it. Or the other way would be if you're backing up and it shoots forward and distracts the attacker.
