Topic: Best use of the Amen

Posted: 06/19/07 06:36 PM

Forum: Audio

The legendary Amen loop has been around since samplers were invented (if you don't know what I'm talking about, watch this video) and it's amazing to see what good DJs can do with it! I've picked up a CD from Russian DnB artist "Technical Itch", and he uses nothing but the Amen for the whole thing. He sliced it up and ran it though some very effective effects, and the result is very inspiring.

I'm sure many other DJs do that too, but at the moment, he's at the top of my creativity list. What's the best use of the Amen that you've ever heard?

And one of my favourite ng songs is Khuskan's "Atomic". I love those samples! That "Lars' Adventure" game went so well with it.

If you wanna make Mario-sounding music, google "Syntendo vst" or "Peach vst" or "Toad vst". Good retro sounds.

I beg to differ. Most of the best vsts I've used are free.
Or course, you're not gonna find a decent free orchestra sampler anywhere.

I figure there will be alot of sounds going on (hack, slash n scream:) when the game is up and running. I might concider making my mixes a little less busy for that reason. Again, that's just me :)

A good rule of thumb is to try to stay out of the higher frequencies, cause that's where the effects usually go. That "space pirates" song is a good example.
