I suppose the .flp I uploaded was before I removed it, because the .flp I have and have been fiddling with lacks it :D

I put a compressor on the master bus... maybe_3rig.flp

Ehh, I don't really like what you did to it. You distorted the main theme.

I didn't know what the main theme was. See, I was using FL 6, so nothing showed up in the playlist. I had no clue what it originally sounded like, but I listened to the patterns and came up with an arrangement.

You don't have to use my version. I just wanted to give this thread a kick...can't wait to hear what you guys come up with! :-)

Since nobody seemed to be continuing this, I've remixed the FL Collab part. It's fairly short, so you'd better do something about it.

The current_fl.mp3 is updated accordingly.

Try this Vsti - http://www.krakli.co.uk/secure/gargoyle.zip - it might have what you're looking for.
While you're there, check out all the stuff on http://www.krakli.co.uk/freesynths.asp . They have good synths!

:Im really confused on how you do this. Is there a way to import the whole song, without slicing,
:and how do you use different instruments. Maybe im just stupid. :x

If you're gonna make money off of your project, it's only fair that the composer gets some too. There's usually a flat fee, plus a percentage of your sales.

By the way, what CC license does Newgrounds use? Attribution, right? Or is it A-NC?

Hm, I've never figured out how to use Soundfonts. Pretty much all I use is Sytrus, Nexus, FreeAlpha, Attack and FPC. Where could I get Soundfonts?
But yes, FL is very powerful for sampling/synthesizing. Recording audio isn't its strong point, I use Audacity for all that.

Rule of thumb: it's always free if you run fast enough.

And about interpolation - I generally export everything at the highest settings anyway. I don't notice any major quality difference, but you never know when someone will want to put it on TV...

Topic: Live Performances?

Posted: 05/27/07 09:39 AM

Forum: Audio

I've been getting ready for a live performance of my own, with a singer/guitarist friend of mine. My main program is FL Studio, but it's too graphic-intensive for live performances on my crappy laptop...so I'm using a free sequencer called Reaper (http://reaper.fm).

I have a Korg KONTROL49 keyboard that I'll be using. I'm also running vocals and a guitar through my computer with the EMU 0404 USB interface. Granulation ahoy!

I have something almost like that - an EMU 0404 USB. The difference is that the EMU has S/PDIF in and out, ground lift switches, both 1/4" and 1/8" headphone jacks, and MIDI ports. And it costs $50 more.

Reaper - FREE

Technically, it's uncrippled and unexpiring shareware. But even so!

This is an audio recorder, sequencer, VST host...all the things FL Studio , Cubase, and Reason do. But for free.
It won "Best Free Sequencer" in Computer Music magazine, and it deserved it. It has the most features out of any other free sequencer I've seen.

If you need help with it, I've written a tutorial to get you started right here.

What about that fancy schmancy stand-alone NG audio player they developed a while back? Maybe they're planning on implementing that in the new version.

http://blog.splicemusic.com/2007/05/22/how-to -make-loops-for-free/

Since 90% of us Newgrounders have no funds for legally acquiring music production software, I've written this handy tutorial showing how you can make your own music and loops for the low, low price of zero by using nothing but free programs.

Now everyone can have original music for their animations without breaking several copyright laws in the process! :-D

Everyone has a dad. Doesn't matter if he was there for you or not, he exists. Or existed.

Anyway, with Father's Day coming up, I thought it'd be nice to get a little compilation going with NG songs for and about fathers. Genre isn't an issue...it it reminds you of your dad (or someone else's dad), go for it. Sad songs, happy songs, angry songs, whatever floats your boat.

I'll start, I guess. Here's a remix I made of a song called Nine Years Old a little while back. I found the original song here, he's awesome. :-)

Epic Orchestra - An epic orchestra. My most popular song from here to YouTube, for some reason. There's a sequel also, check out the high-quality version on my site.

Deep Thought - A neat little loop I made entirely with free software. It kicks your bum.

Mindless Adventure - A loop. Good driving, playing, or bouncing-through-the-forest-with-your-buddies music.

Standardized - A looping song, it'd be great for a shooter game. Inspired in part by "Lar's Adventure" and a song from SyTeQ.

Nebula - You're floating through space, with not a care in the universe...an ambient track.
