Topic: Flash Blitting in AS2?

Posted: 06/24/09 08:50 AM

Forum: Programming

I'm trouble implementing blitting in AS2. Basically I have a tower defense game, and after 20+ waves of enemies, the game starts to lag A LOT. I'm trying to implement blitting, but am having trouble. Anybody know how to implement this in AS2? Let me know. Thanks.

Topic: SF Collab, Power of Three Teams

Posted: 05/19/09 06:10 PM

Forum: NG News

Big Brother is watching! Or in this case Mr. Fulp is watching. I had just received a PM earlier today asking to release my part for the collab since the collab was expected to never be released, and a couple hours later the collab is on the front page..........fishy! Ha, I'm just excited it's finally out!

At 5/19/09 05:56 PM, TomFulp wrote: First, go DIGG this so we can get front page:
SF COLLAB ON DIGG

Some other website recently made Digg's front page with Mike's Doom Triple Pack, just like how some site snagged front page with HappyHarry's Watchmen spoof when NG had already submitted it. WE CAN'T LET THAT HAPPEN AGAIN.

Be sure to read up on The Power of Three!

I have been putting together a preliminary TEAM ROSTER based on the team submissions. There are some heavy hitters (cough Adam Phillips) who are ALMOST on that list but I'm waiting on final team confirmations. It's already an impressive list, though!

The plan is to update this page throughout the summer, with screen shots and interviews from the teams. As the games take shape, we'll develop a fall release schedule to maximize the excitement over each release.

NOTE: I am still going through PMs and logging team info. If your team isn't on this list, I will get to it soon!

TEAMS: Someone (I think RubberNinja?) recommended having team names, which sounds like a lot of fun! So PM me with your team name and I can include those.

If you got a boss, chances are you have felt like this before.

Quick and fun animations aimed at making your day at work go by a tad bit more pleasantly. Some are animated by me, others by my good friend Josh, and Lisa K helps with coming up with ideas and stuff, she's good at that. Just one of several projects we have planned together.

Yeah, i refrained posting from the flash forum, didn't want to overdo it, and having posts in three different places here on newgrounds, but thanks for the suggestion.

I copied and pasted from my post on front page... just in case you missed it.

Hey, any programmers that can collaborate with me on this? The project is an MP3 player built in flash .

This is from the client:

"We upload a folder where we want the page to live on our server. Once it's uploaded, we can navigate on the browser to an admin page where you upload an mp3 file, and then name the track. Then you can add another track, and another, etc, til you have the whole tracklisting in place. Sort of like MySpace's music player for bands. And you can always go back to that admin page and either add, delete, or edit the files that are in the player. And you can keep adding tracks, there's no limit.

It would create the player on a standalone page, and also, on another (private) page - generate the code for embedding the player."

Additional from client: when I suggested using an mp3 player using XML to display track names, and generate the playlist.

"Can we make that xml data be entered/edited via a form - so no one has to deal with a local copy of something or use any kind of editing program?"

I will pay you, please contact me with quote PM here on NG is fine, and maybe a link to work you have done. I do a lot of freelance, and great opportunity for someone to make some quick cash, and maybe repeat gigs here and there. Like I said, this is for a record company, or label, whatever, and has some cool artists on there.

you've managed to make a simple spelling error.
you had spelled Sight. S-I-G-H-T when its spelled, site, "S-I-T-E"

some people shouldn't have a Newgrounds.
like people that think we should have collabs of retarded shit.
we might as well have a "dora the explora" collab right after Naruto. XD

can we do a naruto collab
LEAVE THIS SITE

FAIL! MWUAHAHAHAHAH I think you should take your own advise and leave this SIGHT!(sic)

ay yay yay

Anyways, WHEN IS THE COLLAB COMING OUT!!!!!! Can't wait to see what everyone did. Blamformers was awesome, I expect nothing less from the Street Fighter Collab.

by the way, Naruto, sounds like PUTO!

so everyone who likes Naruto, is one BIG PUTO!

I'm about to send mine off. Just finished it about 30 mins ago. I was supposed to have finished mine yesterday but got sidetracked. Anyhow Someone gets hurt in mine, and takes a trip to the emergency room, there's more pictures on my BLOG . If anybody wants to send me their blog link, I want to make a section of links devoted to NG artists, that'd be rad.

Dammit, the deadline has been extended......that means we have to wait longer to see what everyone else has done, can't wait to see it, I've seen lots of good stuff posted on here.

Some colors also are chemically more heavy than others.. neutral gray and thalo blue can cover it one coat... crimson red and canary yellow took a number of coats.

What I noticed onthe one I used Gesso was also that it was harder to get rid of brushstrokes and since the paint dried faster, I had to apply the paint faster, because once it began to dry, the paint would get like gooey and sticky.

Thats a good point, so I was thinking about this thread... do you guys think itd be better to just make the 'prizes' all the same... i really hate the idea of having to pick one single one as the best one... this has been one of the more friendly non-competitive contests and i want to preserve that.

So i was thinking of ditching the whole 1st - 3rd place... deleting the first place would open up the budget and allow for the best 5 places to get something so if you came in 1st or 5th it wouldnt matter everyone would be eligible to get the same thing.. a choice of a regular 6" munny or a 6" glow in the dark version.

Thoughts?

I'd like to win some money hahaha. I liked the money prizes much better, because the winner could use that money to buy a munny, and a couple other things if he'd like hahaha. I dunno that's just me. Is there a limit to how many WZL's you can submit to the contest?

I'll sort out the on sat.
