THe problem with that is that the European gov'ts are residing over populations that are compact, manageable, and in a small geographically confined area. America is a continent of euro-nation sized states. ALso, the culture and creed of the populations of each individual euro nation are quite similar across the board. AMerica is, whether anyone believes it or not, is a cultural melting pot. I hardly believe that the swedish government could deal with a city filled with whites, blacks, mexicans, etc.. all with different ideaologies cultures and political beliefs.
Hmm, well yes, totally true. But I don't see the problem with instituting some larger social programs in the US: a one-payer healthcare system for instance.

I like to say I'm agnostic. Obviously I have no idea if there is any kind of 'God' out there. I have no reason to believe so. I do believe Karl Marx said it best:

On the other hand, some religions do make sense. I've been interested in Buddhism off & on, and to me it seems quite level headed: not much wanton idol-worshipping.

But, of course, they were both saying positive things. Bush wasn't saying: I'll cause millions to lose jobs, I'll recklessly invade countries, I'll increase the deficit, etc.
At the very least, with Gore the environment wouldn't be getting fucked over and out.
American needs a party on the left. The republicans somehow have been getting more and more conservative (radically conservative!), and the democrats are following them. Look at other countries: European liberal parties carry weight.
But America is seriously screwed up, and the two main parties have a stranglehold.
3rd parties need to start reaching out to those disillusioned! We also need public financing of elections.
