But tutorials can help you understand how to proceed with a piece and how certain tools can be used to achieve certain things.
yea either im gifted or just not smart enough to comprehend tutorials lol. PigeonOnaStick i thought your techniques were pretty effective and unique, like adding the color after drawing the base image. Yes brushes are important and making ones own brush just ensures more uniqueness to the picture.
I started nearly 2 years ago and only because we were doing it at school, i personally dont find tutorials useful because i just dont function that way -.-
you could try shading around the turtle shell a bit to give it more depth? i mostly use the line and paint bucket tool if i draw anything.

It makes the planet look like it has really weird light conditions, or something, usually shadows arn't black unless you're in total darkness, then everything is black.
yea thanks for the tips, i have looked at some pretty professional digital pictures and its amazing how a little bit of sunset suddenly makes everything alot darker
Hey could you please crit mine as well? details- its all in photoshop, no tablet and around 150 layers
how on earth did you manage to score the name "Iron"? i thought it would have been long taken. cool pictures btw XD

YES that is exactly what i have been trying to say. i practically worship photoshop. as you can draw nearly anything in it. very nice mask by the way, is that using just brushes? i normally add a few gradients or effects in mine

A lot of people use references, but very seldom do people here use photographs or other existing images in their art.
Generally people here either work with an image program from scratch or with a scan/photo of their own work. We like to see only original art here in the forum so manipulating other peoples photographs or art is, generally, a no-no (there are seldom exceptions).
Anyway half of the regulars here do their work exclusively in an image program, usually Photoshop.
Here is something I made in Photoshop without references or existing images.
oh maybe i didnt explain it properly.... i meant like using different programs as well, for example; something drawn in 3ds max then edited by photoshop, that sort of thing. i just wanted to see completely psd, i always see other art that looks so good but with a mix of programs, and i just want to see the best of photoshop. nice picture btw :)
i was wondering how many people use photoshop and only PS, without any 3rd party photos/images?
if you have any can you please post some art that has been done in photoshop 100% so i can see what different styles there are?
ill try to get it started...
Well other than being an artist i can also double as a writer- if by that you mean just a script/storyline author?
