One relatively old but still nice robot picture. Despite having the name of Kerberos it doesn't really have three anything.

I'm not the patient man on Earth and it shows - Only a few part are inked and some are even unfinished :P

Robots, beep.

In Estonia, our smallest coins have a value of 0.6 pennies. And I gladly hang on to such small pieces of money until I get a chance to spend them.

Aaaand the average size, DPI and number of layers in your Photoshop file is...?
I really don't see the point in such device for solely sketching or doodling considering it's price range. Esspecially if it's professionals that are using it. Seriously, using a 3000-4000 USD tablet computer for sketching on a train...? O_o

But yes, the smaller (Babmoo-sized...?) versions would indeed be more feasible...on the price range. Then comes the horror of fitting all that hardware in a smaller shell.

As awesome as a Wacom/laptop combo would be, it's still quite beyond the horizon for now.

A laptop would need quite some parts to run Photoshop or Painter well - about 4GB of RAM, a powerful dual-core processor (or quad-core....although I haven't seen a laptop with quad processors), which in turn would need good cooling. Well, I'll assume that we won't need a good grapichs card because playing with your Wacom is only good for point-and-click adventure games and RTS's.
Problem 1 - the battery would die very fast trying to run such monster computer. It's not much fun being always plugged in, but OK, we'll manage. Moving on...

As of now, the Cinitq alone, without the stand, weighs approximately 8,5 kg. The computer we are constructing would most likely sit on the 3-4 kg line. So end result would be between 10 and 13 kg. 10-13 kg computer. That's some heavy shit to carry around with you.

But most of all....the Cintiq alone costs 2000 USD. A powerful laptop means adding somewhere between 1000 and 2000 USD. 3000 to 4000 dollars. Fuuuuucck....

Response to: Art Forum Game [Discussion] Posted October 30th, 2009 in Art

Creating a separate forum for the game (it needs a name <_<) would be useful indeed. Easier than to attempt to keep up with the separate conversations in this thread and trying to contact other through IM programs. Besides, there are tons of free forum providers out there so getting one shouldn't be much trouble.
Don't think .swf support is critical for the forum though. We can just link to an external site where we have uploaded the Flash file. I poked the home pages of a few forum providers and none of them had .swf support brought out as a feature - it's either isn't there or it's too trivial to present as a feature.

I also wanted to ask confirmation about one thing - Cyberpunk still *is* something along the lines of Sci-fi, right? I'm not 100% sure about this even though I voted for it and volunteered for the cyberpunk artist group.

Err, question for angryglacier and Kinsei01 - what are you guys designing? Is that some enemy (which enviroment) or is it the player? And Kinsei01, it's most likely best to present it in (ortographic?) side view since that's the way it will be seen in the game.

PS - how does one spell Hopeku anyway? Ho-peku or Hope-eku?

In all honesty, it is good enough as a BG as it is. All I would suggest is making the foreground plants a bit thinner at the top and overall smoother (it's quite obvious that you used a brush with a low smoothing setting). Also, something in that big, flat, empty space between the road and the foreground plants would be nice.

Triented, a question - How'd you make those lines (I marked them with red) on the walls? I'm sure I know which tutorial you are talking about and don't remember it mentioning anything about those.
Are these textures or shadows?

I made something cool?

Response to: Hilarious Physics Engine Mistakes Posted October 24th, 2009 in Video Games

I remember running towards a single Korean soldier in Crysis. I had maximum speed and I jumped when I was 30 feet away from him. I switched to maximum strength in mid-air , hoping to punch the bastard to death.
I collided with him and died, while to Koraen somehow survived being hit with a 30mph moving, supersuited soldier. -_-

More specifically, the enemy behaviour. S I created a small sheet of different enemy ideas. This small document should be self-explanatory

Great minds think alike, aye?
Anyway, regarding the multiple programmer talk (hell, we're lucky if we even find one).....remember the Four Second collabs that jmtb02 oranized a few years ago? In those cases He released a core engine that would contatin the smaller engines of all the minigames. I'm not saying that we should actually have multiple programmers, but it would be possible to create a system which allows smaller engines to exist within. Maybe use it to create minigames or boss character AI?

Super Mario? That one's pretty darned hollow on the story side.
Team Fortress 2
The two top NG Flashes at the moment, Maimi Shark and Toss The Turtle
Geometry Wars
Pacman

It's gameplay and innovation that makes a game.

TBH, we've had enough talk about the story. We've established that it will be dream-based, so could we start thinking of neat new gameplay that we could include in our game?

I'm guessing that a mod will stumble upon this, so I'll link to the the Art Request Thread in advance.

When you repost there, remember to include the sizes of the clouds you want and the style - cartoonish or realistic (I'm guessing that since you mentioned several aplah levels, you mean the latter). Also, which clouds do you want? There's enough for Wikipedia to have an article on them so specify which one you want.
