4.07 / 5.00 13,902 ViewsOkay, this is really getting irksome: does anybody else experience problems with NG not loading media? Because this is effectively making NG unusable for me.
I can go to the art portal and thumbnails may refuse to load. I may go to a piece's page and it may not load. I may visit an art thread and half of the images don't load. Dumping grounds? Effectively unusable. Audio portal also has very questionable stability.
And I've tried both with Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer, all suffering from the same problem. On two computers :/

Make a comic. Make a game. Make a series of images for a common topic.
Do all these excercises. Do those excercises. Go to an art class, get subjects thrown at you.
....uh. Just make more stuff. Perhaps not speedpaintings though, some thoughts I've seen on that.

Wait until a grand Steam sale. Laugh maniacally as you fill your library with tons of 60-75% discounted games. Profit.

Don't know about the graphics card though, but if you're using a computer that old and only in ms paint it should be a problem.
Huh. I took a look at that, saw the processor and its really low clock rate and thought: "That doesn't sound very powerful". But apparently its processor can boost itself to be more powerful than the one in the Samsung.
...I don't like how hard it is to tell which piece of hardware is better these days.

I didn't know MS Paint was part of Adobe's high-end software line.
But the suggestion for a desktop is a sound one, even if it is for the screen. Laptops screens are not always quite as good for art as a desktop computer's.

Had the odd thought the other day about what a military composed of anthropomorphic animals could look like. One where some are better than others merely because of their species and others are ridiculed because their species is deemed to be lousy combatants.
Oh wait, this was supposed to be a happy joke image and not a metaphor for modern day militaries, OH WELL.
I'm not sure if this is immediately obivious so... the pangolin needs no body armour since he's a bloody pangolin (seriously, look at the plating on these critters) and the chameleon doesn't need the camo clothing because he's a bloody chameleon (If you ask why I didn't just draw him naked I will brick you). Mr. Fox here has to waste the tax payers money and carry both. And a radio because that's what the losers get to do in anthro military.
Let's see how long it takes before somebody goes all "FURRRRYYYYY".

PS - Awseome Horse Studios is an awesome stream to watch every Saturday (and Wednesday now too) for two hours. Four freelancers, all at a professional level (here's one's portfolio) talking about arts, providing critiques and answering viewer questions.
Do keep an eye on them.

'fraid I don't know. Long story short, "Re2deemer" has been a convenient name that I could use everywhere because its a unique combination, eliminating any chance of a naming conflict.
However, with convenience came a downside that has become more and more worrisome for me lately: it hardly has a future. It is hardly evocative, it is hard to spell, hard to remember and most of all, it's not a name that I wouldn't feel embarrassed giving out to friends and/or employers. It's also not a name that would make for great brand recognition. Think back at some recognizable folk on the net. Can you think of some that had a number in their name (and if they did, did they not have a simpler, easier to remember nickname)? I can only think of one, "deadMau5".
That last part felt especially silly to write, as if I had some fame mania saying that I must be e-famous. THE INTERNET WILL LOVE ME OR IT WILL BURRRRN. That is not the case....it's just that I don't really want to exclude that chance. By now, being 19, I've realized that some things are better done with some foresight. Crafting a self-identity, even if it's on the Internet(which many may not consider serious business), is one of those things. I just want one that I feel comfortable with.
...I'm not saying a silicon-based name is the only option here, of course I'm still prodding and thinking over the different options.
At 5/1/12 08:16 AM, TurkeyOnAStick wrote: NEITHER.

Sorry mum, but I ain't wearing that nickname you go me.
Okay gents. I've been having a bit of an e-identity crisis thus far and have seriously been considering a name change. So, a question for the masses: "siliconcat" or "siliconlynx"?
As a bonus question, these names do not evoke thoughts of furries, now they?

Blackmist has a point. There's a fine point between the...eh, "artistic" nudity and the "I want to create some boners" nudity. And yours is hardly the former.

A .zip file containing various sizes of it can be found here, on the right-hand side.

What the hell, man? Not cool.
I know the topic of working for free is something that comes up often 'round here, thanks to all the request threads. But there's something....I don't even know what to call it. Just see for yourselves.
Paying to work for free, found via CGTalk.

gah. A prototype of a wallpaper I was making. For the last week or so I had been obsessing over the anatomy of that critter until I realized that I had been looking under the wrong rock all the time - it was the lighting that was most certaily NOT doing what I wanted it to. I mean, it makes her freaking belly the focal point, what good is that?
OH WELL. BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD.
That's what I get for not doing thumbnils in advance.

Other than those things, I don't really see anything. I don't feel like I can either since I don't know what sort of environment you'll be placing her in. At the moment she looks very stiff, so I don't know if this is for a reference sheet or if you're already developing the final drawing.
Well, she's really pretty much floating in space. Seriously, here's an older WIP:
Needless to say, it's a wallpaper.

Actually, now that I think of it, some adjustments into her hind feet wouldn't go amiss. Still, the question above applies.
Size: 2560 x 1600, this here is a cropped section of the full thing

Time: No idea. Too much
There aren't a whole lot of sketches/WIP's in this thread, but I really want to get this down right before I move on to painting it because it is meant to be the focal point of the whole image.
My question is: Do you see something wonky with her anatomy? It is a cyborg-deer and yes, it has a long tail. If anybody knows any equine-like animals with long, muscular tails then I wouldn't mind getting some references of them.
However, it is not the tail that has been bothering me, it is the feet that I have been redrawing over and over again.
Something to set the mood
Lambda, my cyborg-doe-tactician without her mask. Cyborgs are never a pretty sight.
Also, CYBORG CYBORG CYBORG CYBORG CYBORG.
I LIKE CYBORGS, COULD YOU TELL?
On a side note, I want to like watercolours, I really do, but we have a very abusive relationship. Every time I try to use them it's like I get bitchslapped across the room.
Suddenly felt like creating a spray for Team Fortress 2. Regrettably it looks quite poo-poo in-game.
A celebration of engineering, my favourite class aside from the Spy and the Pyro (an odd trifecta indeed). It's kind of a zen class to play as one can just set up one's base and sit there, sipping some tea and punching anybody that gets too close to your buildings. Or, you know, you can do it the American way and run into the battle blasting scotsmen and communists in the face with a shotgun.
Also, the Widowmaker shotgun is the best-sounding weapon in the game. PROVE ME WRONG
On a side note, I must be getting regular visits from the men in black. How else can I explain that every time I start an image it crosses my mind that it would be a good idea to merge the lineart and colouring layers despite every single previous attempt ending with "NEVER AGAIN"?

Needless to say, I'm not exactly pleased with my choice of username, but although I know that if one pleads really nicely, they could have their username changed (at least here), I struggle to think of a better one.

If you want your game to be at least a little bit seriously then don't post videos showcasing a single pencil sketch, filmed to inappropiate music with the camera swishing around. Get cracking on the game.
Unless you're Blizzaard or Valve, your concepts will not excite anybody without gameplay videos.
If you want a demonstration of it done appropiately, look no further than the Planetside 2 concept art video. Or the Overgrowth art asset overviews.
Also, dragons.
I referenced it off a horse's musculature and for long was wondering why it looked so odd. Then I realized it: I hadn't referenced the surface muscles of a horse. I had referenced the deeper muscles. Whoops.
Full size here:
Well that was something different - a dragon! Just chilling.
: I have no idea how to do that new Audio forum-like creation posting so this might not work.
Two other sketches, first of a local steamer and the second a still life.
I wonder whose that skull is.
I like squirrels. I like cyborgs. Ergo, cyborg-squirrel!
Wanted the second to be a Valentine's day image (hint: it would have included an eyeball. Nobody said cyborg squirrels are nice) but didn't like where it was going.
I've had an affinity for drawing my sketchbooks custom covers, but lately it has evolved into painting them new covers.
A complacent elk. Also, I don't know what's with that floppy dor-ear like formation he has there, it was on the original reference photo too (which I can no longer find, woe is me)
Oh, hey there. I spent the last part of 2011 drawing a comic project, which regrettably got nowhere, essentially wasting these months art-wise (also, university). Well that was a disappointment.
I'm not sure what I'll be doing from now onwards. I'm torn between a Flash game and another comic project.
In the meanwhile, have a cyborg standing in an explosion. He should really know better.
