Lol, I completely overlooked that.

I'm sure he meant a bookstore. Either there or buy it online. I know Amazon.com has it in stock.

What's the difference? Posted May 25th, 2004 in Game Development

Is there a difference between Macromedia Flash MX and Flash MX 2004? So far I've that there isn't a difference, but I'm not sure.

Response to: Did Neo died??? Posted May 24th, 2004 in General

After Neo destorys Smith, you can still see him slightly breathing. Watch it again, and you'll see him breathing when you get a close up shot.

But then again, Keanu Reeves still needs to breathe, even during filming...

Still, I don't believe he's dead at the end of the movie.

Response to: Adding sound to your flash! Posted May 24th, 2004 in Game Development

The sound file has to be a WAV or a MP3. If it isn't, you can use a program like Soundforge to convert them into WAVS. Also, ITunes can make a sound an MP3, but I've never actually tried that, it's just what I've heard.

If you have music, try to optomize it. Chances are that's what's taking most of the space if you're using it.

Response to: I need Help making movies! Posted May 22nd, 2004 in Game Development

Well, maybe I was wrong. Maybe there are other ways to do it. Some people learn by getting into it themselves while others learn it better from someone else. If one approach doesn't work out for you, try something else for a change of pace.

Lol, I just finished watching "Seabiscuit" and I'm totally convinced at not giving up...

But seriously, I guess there are other ways to learn Flash. I know the program can be a little bitch at times, but I guess you need to just kick it in the ass a few times. I guess it's up to you whether you want to kick the ass by yourself or have a partner to do it with. Either way...

Don't give up, and I wish you the best of luck.

Response to: I need Help making movies! Posted May 22nd, 2004 in Game Development

Believe me, if you really want to get serious at Flash, you're going to need to get that info from somone who knows already, and works with Flash as a profession. I'm not going to question your Flash skills but I bet you could agree with me that learning it from a professional is a far better way to go than some online tutorials.

Response to: I need Help making movies! Posted May 22nd, 2004 in Game Development

There's only one way to truly learn Flash. You need to learn it from a professional, someone who already knows the program. Either take a college course in it or learn it from someone who seriously knows the program. Don't even try to learn it yourself, there's no freakin' way you can. Many have tried and have given up.

Let me say this, online tutorials will NOT help. Most of the ones at Flashkit are so freakin' outdated and underdetailed it's disgusting. You need to learn it by doing, and by following someone else's real life example. If you have trouble doing this, then I'm sorry, but there's two ways of going about it. Serious and meanful training or reading someone else's crappy and outdated example, and sitting there spending days in confusion. Most tutorials are designed already assuming you at least know a little Flash and you already know what the hell they're talking about.

Yes, Flash is a VERY hard program to learn. I wish you luck with it.

Yo mama is so dirty that she loses weight by taking a shower.

Yo mama is so stupid she thought Taco Bell was a Mexican phone company.

Yo mama has so many cavities it looks like she has dice in her mouth.

These are some I found along the way...

n00bs are still clocks? Some of the most advanced users are clocks. Your the n00b, you don't even make Flash, OR music. Clocks do both (But I only do Flash). So get off your n00b ass and go make some flash! Then you can come back and call us n00bs when one of your videos make front page.

Just because he doesn't sumbit Flash to Newgrounds doesn't mean he doesn't make anything. You have to consider that.

Ha, go ahead and try. I doubt there's that much you can do.

(Yeah, I know the dimensions are a bit off but that's besides the point...)

Funny, I've never seen either of them.

And that is one funky guitar.

Both of them are extremely funny but LF wins here. Sorry Knox.

Response to: Most addictive game? Posted May 20th, 2004 in General

Goldeneye 64 was my most addictive game. Anyone ever play Fallout 1 or 2 for the PC? Those were pretty addictive as well.

Response to: Searching for sound effects Posted May 20th, 2004 in Game Development

You can use Goldware or you can use Sound Forge, which I usually use for voice overs and sound editing. It's a bit complicated, but it's a pretty useful program.

Response to: 3d programs Posted May 18th, 2004 in Game Development

Use 3D Studio Max. I've used it before, it's an outstanding program for people who are serious about 3D modeling and animation.

Response to: Flash sites Posted May 17th, 2004 in General

www.albinoblacksheep.com and www.clappingfetus.com are other Flash sites, but some of what you see there is likely to be on NG already. It depends on what you're looking for. Stuff at ABS is pretty psycho.

Weird Al is the best one I know of.

Response to: need to learn Posted May 13th, 2004 in Game Development

Go to www.flashkit.com. Like you, I know next to nothing in Flash, but that site has given me a drastic head start and I've started to get to know the program better. Check out the tutorials, espically the beginners ones, they're a big help.

But, if you don't like online tutorials or you have trouble learning from them, maybe attend a high school or college course that involves using Flash. That's probably the best way to handle it. I already have one scheduled for a fall semester. Since you can use Flash animation for so many things, it's a really good program to learn how to use.

I'm learning it as an alternative to Powerpoint presentation, since it's far more media-rich than the basic Powerpoint presentation that anyone can pick up and do themselves.

Don't give up trying to learn it. It's a tough program to master, but when you do, you'll be glad you did.

Go to View, and Uncheck Snap. That's all you need to do. You can also press CTRL+; to make it even faster.

Response to: Blur Effect Posted May 11th, 2004 in Game Development

In PS, there are several types of blurs. Motion will give it a streaking blur. Normal blur can be done by Gaussian Blur. Also, Radial Blur will give the image a feel like you're homing in on it at an extreme speed.

I highly recommend getting PS.

Flash Converstion Posted March 31st, 2004 in Game Development

Does anyone know how to convert a Shockwave movie from Macromedia Director into a Flash movie? I have some great Shockwave movies that I would like to convert to Flash so I could post them here, but I can't do anything until I figure out how to do it (If there is a way...).

I have access to both Director and Flash MX but everytime I try to open a Director File using Flash MX, it says it has trouble opening the file (which probably shouldn't be a surprise). Anyone know of a way around this? I would hate to have to do the entire movie all over again in Flash MX since it took me so long to do it already in Director...

Any help would be greatly appreciated...
