Try your best anyway, but don't be bummed out if it doesn't end up being as good as you thought it would be. Most colleges look at your GPA and what classes you took in high school moreover a standardized test that only measures how good you are at standardized testing.

The only thing that made it easy was when you wanted to go back to T-Bone Junction you could just quit and re-enter the game, as the only New-U station was there.
Definitely agree, totally forgot about this. The armor on those vehicles was also nowhere nearly as good as it should have been either, so you often ended up traveling on foot and having to destroy Crimson Lance vehicles using only your own held weapons. Not an easy task either.

Metro was still pretty good, but you're right about it being a bit on the confined side. Maybe it's something about Rush maps, and everyone being in the same general area all at once, as opposed to BF2 Conquest where everyone was spread out all over the map, pretty much. I noticed this in BC2 as well when it comes to Conquest vs Rush maps.
I like what they did with the Beta, it definitely feels like the game I've been waiting for. I had issues running it before, but with a few driver updates and adjusting the settings, I got it working beautifully on High graphics.

I think it's done for PC as well. The link seems to be dead.
Still, even so, I think the Beta was pretty good, looking forward to the 25th.
Heaven. Quite possible they have something even much better than the Internet. Ever think of that?
My guess is Blizzard is realizing WoW is slowly on its way out. The graphics are pretty dated, most of what they're throwing in there is nothing new, and people are running out of things to do in there. Still, on the other hand, free to level 20 is just a new way of promoting their free trial. Even from the beginning, Blizzard was handing out free seven day trial cards like there was no tomorrow, and it was easy to get to level 20 in those seven days anyway.
Truthfully, Blizzard really needs an all new franchise besides Warcraft, Starcraft, and Diablo. While those three have always been highly respected, I think something completely new would be really appreciated.

Definitely this. I can honestly say my real life job is way more exciting than doing these extremely tedious tasks in Fable II.
Meanwhile, "farming" anything in an MMO also gets extremely boring.

Vehicles I don't mind, as long as there are enough ways to get rid of them. BC2 was generally alright when it came to land vehicles because there were mines, C4, anti-tank stations, and engineer rocket launchers. However, trying to take helicopters out was a complete joke. Engineers should have been able to either have faster-firing tracer darts (standard bullet speed), and/or infinite tracer darts. I still think BF2 had the best vehicle system, though. Everything just felt nicely balanced in there.
Haven't played Caspian Border yet, but I'm hoping the vehicle system is more like BF2's than BC2's.
The campaign of SC2 was good, but wasn't worth playing again and again. As for multiplayer, I just never really grew too attached to it like I did with the original Starcraft. Meanwhile, I did play World of Warcraft for a few years, but I quit when things just never really changed and seemed to get boring after a while.
I will agree that they were much better off on their own.
The absolute best health system I've seen is Fallout New Vegas on Hardcore mode, where you can take limb damage, which in turn can damage your effectiveness, and where healing items take a while to function, so using them in mid-combat doesn't magically rejuvenate you. Meanwhile, there's absolutely no regenerative health. Boy, you don't know how much I wish online FPS games would do this too. Diablo II was pretty good for this too, where you had healing items, but they still take a while to heal you.
I'm not a fan of regenerative health like Call of Duty. If you shoot someone a few times but they survive and get away, they should be stumbling around, not ducking behind cover until all those bullet wounds magically mend themselves. The first time I saw it was in Halo with it's shield system, which I thought would just be a one time thing that would never really catch on. I was really quite surprised such an unrealistic health system caught on so widely.

I am pretty good at the game and I spend most of my time picking off people with no common sense. But the thrill comes from know there is this one player on the other team who I must avoid or flank at all cost.
Having people with all different skill levels put together is like putting major leagues, minor leagues, people that don't even know the sport, and everything in between into the same mix. You don't mix kids that barely know how to swim with Olympic swimmer gold medalists and so on. Someone that may look like they have no common sense may just be trying to learn their way around the map for the first time, trying to figure out what buttons do what, and get a feel for the layout, the weapons, and the map itself. Case in point, they should be playing with other people that are trying to learn their way around the game for the first time, not with stat-obsessed people who will immediately rip them to shreds in their own spawn with weapons they won't even see until 20, 30, or 40 ranks down the line that are way more powerful than the standard weapons. That's not thrilling, its frustrating. And this is why people camp, because at the end of the day, trying to meet someone head on that's way higher in rank than you is pure suicide. Ambushing them or maintaining a defensive position, killing them to take their godly-level equipment just to get on even ground as they are for a few seconds, and trying to be as resourceful as possible ends up being the only strategy sometimes. It is truly a pathetic way to play a multiplayer game.
And this is exactly why there are a load of people that only play games like this for the campaign mode only. And it's shame, because the multiplayer could be really, really good if it were more merciful and tried to be as balanced as it could. Instead, it's a just breeding ground for elitists, stat-whores, and other pathetic nobodies that haven't seen the outside world in over a week.
And if you think you're that elite, then you should play with the big boys, and see who is the better of you with all your unlocked bling and so on. But bullying newbies who have too much of a life outside the game doesn't prove skill, it just proves you've got more time to play than they do.
Eh, getting a bit tired of getting killed by guys that are 20+ ranks above me with beefed-up weapons who probably just play this Beta all day while I'm working and taking night classes. This was a real pet peeve of mine in BC2, and I'm not exactly thrilled to see it make a glorified return. I was enjoying the Beta when everyone was relatively the same rank and was using the same weapons. Now, losing half a dozen consecutive matches due to the other team having highly ranked people with better weapons just makes me feel like I'm wasting my money and time with this game.
I kind of wish they'd put people of similar ranks in the same game, rather than let the guys with no lives just get a thrill preying off of the newbies and causal players until they've all canceled their preorder. If they organized matches based in terms of skill or rank, you could get a better idea of how good you really are when you're up against people in your same league of skill and experience. Otherwise, K/D ratios really don't mean anything, and the game is really only enjoyed by the hardcore, play-all-day-and-night types of people.
Still, knowing how BC2 was, this isn't something that gets better over time, it only gets worse...
I'm kind of tempted to just push the Beta aside for now and just wait it out. But I agree, this does feel much more like Call of Duty than Battlefield right now. Meanwhile, the framerate seems awfully low on my machine, which can't be on my end with two Nvida GeForce GTX 550 Ti cards, 12 GM RAM, and a 3.46 GHZ processor going. Regardless, the FPS feels like its something around 10-15, which pretty much ruins my aiming.
So yeah, I don't know what it is, but I seriously hope the frames per second in the actual game won't be this bad.
Had a chance to play the Beta, so I decided to give it a shot for about a half hour.
The game feels pretty good so far, but yeah, I'll admit I get a different feeling about this compared to BF2. Definitely feels much more like BC2 than BF2. Still decent though, and if this is what the full game will be like, I'm definitely not canceling my preorder.
Four minutes of nothing but a CS fanboy bragging and inflating his e-penis. Thanks for reminding me why I quit CS in the first place.
Truthfully, if things seem this bad, they really should push back the release date and make sure everything is as close to perfect as possible before launch. It's less than a month away and judging from what people are saying about the Beta (I haven't played it myself), it just doesn't seem ready yet. I for one would not complain if they had to do this, as I'd rather have a high quality game that's free of bugs and glitches later on in the year than be stuck with a game that's a total glitchy mess because they hastily released it before it was anywhere near ready.
I just don't think less than a month is enough time to fix and address the issues that seem to be present in the game. I know a lot of people would probably grumble and complain about it, but it would be the smarter and wiser decision.
This is not one of those games they can afford to screw up.
Like movies, you can't always go off of score. I've seen good games with low scores, and mediocre games with high scores. I'd say every game needs at least 15 minutes before you can really declare how you feel about it. Plus, a game that appeals to one type of audience may not appeal to another. Secondly, just because one game is more complex and probably has more lines of code than another doesn't make it a better game than say a game that's simple but easily addictive fun with a creative and open-minded approach.
I've never made a Flash game myself, but I imagine it's not an easy thing to do and requires a massive amount of debugging and playtesting. Low score or not, they all deserve a chance before you can really say anything about them.
I find if I'm losing or dying a lot, I generally tend to quit for a while and come back later when I've cleared my head. I don't throw any kind of tantrum, though, usually just quietly and nonchalantly drop out of the game. Typically the reason is because there's some guy that has hit the max rank, is dominating everyone, and obviously doesn't have much of a life outside the game, and frankly, I'd rather not play with those kinds of people. Last thing I want is to end up on some idiot's quickscoping montage videos on Youtube.
But in the end, you win some, you lose some. I don't think I could ever play a game to the point where I am the max rank very early on and am dominating everyone else. I've got a job, school, and other stuff to take care of, and I play a variety of other games. I tend to get deadly sick and tried of a game around the third hour of continuous play, so yeah, I can't ever do what some of these "professional gamers" can do, nor do I aspire to become one either.
It's not a bad thing to take a break from video games. It's definitely better to be more focused on real life matters than the games you play anyway.
Does anyone know if the radios in most emergency vehicles do anything? I've noticed that most of them have a radio by the driver's seat, but every time I use it, absolutely nothing happens.
Animal Crossing: Wild World. I can't fathom how anyone could like this annoying and pointless series. Played it a few times and became convinced the game was trying brutally hard to convince me it just didn't want to be played. Didn't take long for me to grant its wish. Definitely one of the worst games I've ever played.
I remember there was some myth that you could play as the different actor depictions of James Bond in Goldeneye 64. Glad I didn't bother trying to unlock that one.
Usually if the unlock requirement sounds bizarre and/or extremely hard, it's probably fake.
I hate escort missions and missions where you have to protect AI-controlled allies that absolutely can not afford to die (I don't mind it if the AI-controlled allies are on their own and the game doesn't punish you for letting them die). I also hate it when they run right into your line of fire and in some cases, move YOU out of the way so they can get where they're going.
I also hate enemies that can see and shoot you from behind walls and bushes when realistically they should not have line of sight. Games like Far Cry 2 and STALKER make it almost impossible to use a sneaking tactic, which is almost a must sometimes if you're trying to take down entire squads of enemies. In addition, enemies should not be able to take more hits than they could realistically endure. I remember the game Black on the PS2 was horrendously notorious for needing to unload entire clips into people just to kill them.
Elder Scrolls Oblivion. I wasn't too crazy about it, every cave, Elven ruin, and dungeon felt pretty much the same. Not to mention it was really trigger happy on putting in booby traps and whatnot, and I found the towns and cities weren't all that interesting either. Not to mention there were plenty of classes and races, but I really just didn't get into any of them at all.
Metal Gear Solid. I loved the first one, but everything after that just didn't feel worth it. I think making a fifth Metal Gear Solid starring Raiden would be a really bad idea, as it seems he was the main reason I was so turned off from the series in the first place. But even so, the boss fights are really the only interesting events in that game.
I also don't understand the hype for Animal Crossing either. I hated that game with a passion, and yet plenty of people swoon over it. Is paying off a debt doing menial and tedious work really that fun? And since when does a game feel it has the right to bitch at me about saving? Meanwhile, the game never really adds up to anything, there's no story, no action, nothing. I actually liked Harvest Moon a hell of a lot more than Animal Crossing, and usually those kinds of games don't appeal to me.
I'm done with Halo, I stopped playing it after #3 and it would probably take a miracle for me to ever go back to it. I liked the first one and the second one, but I really got sick of it with #3.
I also stopped playing Final Fantasy games after #9. I loved 7, 8 was iffy, and 9 just felt too long to keep me interested. I didn't like the look of 10 and it didn't really look worth my time.
I would still welcome a Left 4 Dead 3 game, but I think that would be the last one of those I would take.
At 9/4/11 08:54 PM, Cootie wrote: Bleh, Mario Kart is too much about getting random OP power-ups. I would prefer if it was more like Blur where you have to work to mess up the people in front of you enough to pass them.
You do realize you can shut them off and tone them down in Mario Kart Wii, don't you? Honestly, I think having ridiculously overpowered items adds to the fun and hilarity of it. There's more fun in trashing all of the other racers than there is in simply coming first. But the best option would be to allow it to be customized. Not to mention overpowered items does allow for people that aren't as good at the game to have a fighting chance.
A few of the things I would have liked to see in Mario Kart Wii were to bring back random character and car selection, bring back more retro tracks (I can't understand why they brought some and not others), and allow you to select which items appear and which ones don't (the way Super Smash Bros lets you decide). More characters and the ability to change their colors (like playing a blue Yoshi) would also be appreciated.
It does have some pretty bad glitches, but I was enjoying the game too damn much to really care. I don't appreciate the glitches, but the game is fun and addictive to just deal with them and keep going.
Plus honestly, mercilessly killing enemies that were stuck in the ground was a guilty pleasure.
Just about everything on the Wii. It's like it took Gamecube's level of graphics and went completely in the opposite direction.

Big Bertha. I have to admit, its a pretty dumb idea for a arcade/carnival kind of game.
As for me, I've always had a tendency to hate broken glass, to the point where I don't even like being near it. Just the thought of glass shards sticking in and out of me while blood is dripping everywhere creeps me out. I'd have to be on the brink of death before I'd consider jumping through a window.
August 29th. Once I get this MBA, I'm done with school, I've seriously had enough of it.
