3.80 / 5.00 4,200 ViewsF2P usually means you end up paying for something else instead of subscriptions. No company would host an MMO completely for free considering how much expense goes into providing servers, handling issues, moderating the game, implementing patches, and so on. If you're not paying for subscriptions, then you're paying for in-game items or access to certain areas, and you're at a great disadvantage if you don't.
This is generally why I've given up on MMOs. It would have to be really, really good and really worth my time to really look into it, and after having quit WoW for three years now, I have yet to see an MMO worth getting into.
Wha? Yellowstone Park of all places?
Fallout 4 needs to be set somewhere in Texas.

Spotting enemy troops and vehicles should generate more points. It would encourage people to do it more often. I do agree though, it would take a miracle to play Recon for the entire match and earn the most points. Not when soldiers and support people earn hundreds of points and truckloads of ribbons just for tossing down medkits and ammo.
Spot assists should be worth something like 25 points instead, and every fourth spot assist in the same match gets you a 200 point ribbon or something like that.

Yeah, same here, and it's more likely for a team to make a comeback than it is in Rush maps, where it seems like most Rush games are very one-sided. In Rush, either the defenders are just making mincemeat of the attackers and the attackers are getting nowhere, or the attackers are plowing through the M-com stations quickly one after another. Rarely does it seem like the attackers get stopped midway. And very often, I've seen attackers lose both times even though the teams remained the same and only the roles were switched. Just seems like in most cases, it's much easier to defend than it is to attack.

Well, it was your money. EA and Dice got it whether your CDs are in pieces or not.
I haven't played MW3, but I've played CoD4, MW2, and Black Ops. Meanwhile, I'm currently playing BF3.
Honestly, even though they're both modern FPS games, they're still pretty different. Play BF3 if you like the idea of having vehicles, including tanks, APCs, helicopters, jets and many more vehicles mixed in with infantry game play. Meanwhile, the maps are much bigger, so if you like sniping as well, BF3 may be more up your alley as now you've got more hiding spots, room to snipe, and snipers have a better tactical advantage, unlike CoD maps that are small and don't offer too many places to hide and shoot people from afar. But again, I haven't played MW3, but this is the general formula I've seen going on in three of those CoD games.
From what I've played with Call of Duty games, yeah, they're much faster-paced, the maps are smaller and you're bound to run into enemies much sooner. And yeah, it's more centered toward individual performance as opposed to teamwork, although that's not to say you won't ever find yourself working alongside teammates, it just won't happen as much as BF3 where you'll be healing them, reviving them, supplying them with ammo, and be in squads to accomplish objectives.
Hmm, I was wondering about this game. I tried Oblivion and didn't find it that great, but I was wondering how much better Skyrim is over that. Are a lot of the aspects the same, or does it feel a lot different, and is still worth picking up even if I didn't like Oblivion all that much?
I've been trying to hit a flying jet with a tank shell. I've already done it with helicopters a few times (usually instant vehicle disable when it happens), but a plane... to me, that just seems like it would be the most epic shot of all time. I wonder if anyone has ever done it yet.
It wasn't that bad. I just think the movie itself got a little boring to watch and was longer than it needed to be, as most of these features I knew about already. If they were to make another Mario game and there would be parts where he would be speaking for several seconds, I think things would work just fine as long as they weren't as long-winded as this movie was.
I think it would have been better if it was done by Luigi's voice actor though.
The game was fun and I enjoyed it from beginning to end, but once it was over, it was over, I really didn't feel compelled to play it all over again all the way through. It also seemed very linear when after reading the description, I imagined the game was much more open and allowed the player to explore and discover things on their own without being forced into the main storyline at all times. Instead, there was no backtracking, and I wanted to see more of the town but never really got to explore it fully.
If they are making a sequel, a better approach would be to have the player be able to free roam around the area, and do side-missions in addition to the main storyline. Another nice feature would be the ability to buy weapons and keep them, rather than gain them, have them taken away, gain them, taken away, and so on again and again. It gets annoying when you save all your rifle and shotgun ammo for a tough encounter, and you find out your careful weapon moderation was all for nothing when you lose everything anyway.

I just feel more comfortable with the idea. I have a huge Newgrounds obsession, so fret not about it being submitted. Sorry to anyone who might be disappointed in this decision. Thanks to everyone.
Or change the whole collab to "The Worst Holiday Ever Collab" and cover Thanksgiving and Christmas/Hanukkah and/or New Years as well, gather everything together from what you get there and what you have now, and you should have plenty to work with.

Have you tried all the classes yet? Have you unlocked all the weapons? Also, try playing the game with a few friends, it's a much more enjoyable experience than only playing by yourself. And if you often find yourself playing infantry, try giving the jets or helicopters a spin and get good with them. Try earning some medals and getting new dog tags. I'm sure you haven't unlocked everything yet.
And yeah, take a break every now and then, no one's expecting you to pour every last hour of free time you have into this game. I do agree though, the game could use some more maps. I'm greatly looking forward to Return to Karkand, even though the new maps are still pretty good. There's just not enough of them.

Spotting is so important. There's nothing I hate more than a enemy tank driving through your area and you are trying to take it out, but you can't see it and all your dumb teammates that are looking at it don't spot it. If everyone on a team spotted everything they could they would win every time.
I spot whenever I can, and I notice that IRNV scopes really help with this if you can see enemies, but they're way too far away or there's too many for you to handle, but some of your teammates might have a better position to take them on. Also, I know that while flying a jet, it's a MAJOR help if people spot enemy jets that are otherwise pretty tough to see for pilots trying to be on the lookout for aerial targets. Engineers and Support kits are also out to look for tanks or jeeps to attack with rockets or C4, so regardless of where they are or how far way they may be, just spot anyway.
Still, even if you think you can take out the enemy anyway, just spot for the heck of it. Get into the habit. Yeah, I agree a 200 point Spot Assist Ribbon for every 4 or so spot assists would definitely be a good motivator, but still, those 10 points for each spot assist add up, and it helps the team.

Can't say I'm very excited for MW3. I might pick it up for the campaign when the price drops, but I'm not interested in the multiplayer at all.
Still, paying that much for a game... that's just burning money for no good reason. I could think of a truckload of better things to spend that much money on.

One thing I wish is for is the ability to enter empty or near empty servers and still move around and do things, although it's understandable if points don't count until enough people enter and an official ranked match can start. This way, you could have practice rounds, something for people to do while waiting for more people to enter the server instead of just standing there doing nothing. Meanwhile, it would give people trying to learn how to fly jets and helicopters a good, empty practice field where they don't need to worry about jet and helicopter experts gunning them out of the sky the millisecond they take off, and it won't hurt their score if they accidentally crash or whatever.
Jets and helicopters just take practice. I was having a horrendous time with them earlier, but I'm slowly getting better. One thing I realized is that it helps to switch from first person and third person views. Use the third person view to find targets and see what's around you, and then switch to first person to get a nice, accurate aim on them when they're in front of you. I started doing better when I was doing this, but I still need a few unlocks to really have a good, fighting chance in the air.

You're not alone. I'm not excited for Skyrim at all. I tried Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, and within a week, I had already gotten bored of it and uninstalled it. The towns weren't interesting, the quests weren't intriguing, the dungeons all pretty much looked and felt the same, and everything just seemed so bland. While I loved Fallout 3 and New Vegas, which used a pretty similar map, exploration, and traveling system, Oblivion just didn't feel worth exploring. It felt far too much like an everyday MMO, but you're the only player online. I think I'd sooner return to playing the old Might and Magic games before playing Skyrim.
Tried the jets some more, still can't get a single point out of them. Hate to say it, but without flares, you're nothing but a point piñata. Feels like if you haven't unlocked the basics already, you're screwed and might as well give up on them entirely. 300 points doesn't sound like much, but it's impossible if everyone else in the sky is loaded for bear and all you've got is the default machine gun. Next time I fly a jet, I'm going to try going kamakazi on a helicopter, and hope at least something comes out of it. At this point, it really seems like the only option.
I don't mind vehicles having unlocks and I think it's a nice motivator like the rest of the kits, but for fuck's sake, at least give us the basics.
At 11/1/11 02:46 PM, Dean wrote: I don't really see the point in the jets anyway. The only use that I can see for the jets is to take down other jets. And if the enemy jet's only use is to take down our jet, why have jets in the first place?
I've not spent all that much time in jets but I couldn't find any way that they might contribute to the game. Do they at some point unlock better weapons that allow them to do some kind of bombing run or something?
Main objective is to go after other jets AND helicopters. Trying to hit ground targets is pretty near impossible since you can't really see much at that distance. But then again, I've only barely played jets. Seems a little unfair you need to unlock flares, which puts jet newbies at even more of a disadvantage if every locked-on missile hits them each and every time.

BC2 was a failure for AA and this game its a near death trap to get in an aerial vehicle in BF3 because one hit from the numerous stingers the other team is using and you're going down. BF2 had a good formula and on the official feedback thread i've made that known.
I honestly think it's okay. I was able to nail three people in an attack helicopter this morning before I was shot down. The anti-air launcher does take quite a painfully long time to lock on, and you have to be close to the target and hope they don't fly out of range while you're locking on, AND you have to keep visual on them the entire time you're setting your sights on them, AND you hope to have your rocket actually hit them and not be diverted by flares. And of course, not get killed while doing all this. Good luck. And by the way, the tank drivers and jeep drivers thank you for picking an anti-air launcher instead.
I think it's pretty balanced, I can't complain. Not after the kind of hell I went through dealing with choppers in BC2.
At 10/27/11 03:13 AM, Jack wrote: A problem I had with BF:BC2 was that skilled pilots could fly attack helicopters for most of the match, people on the ground unable to shoot them down with rocket launchers and they'd end up dominating the battlefield from the sky.
Are their more anti-air options in BF3 compared other entries in the series? I'd like that.
BF2 had Stinger launchers as defense stations, here, when you select Engineer, you choose between letting your launcher be an anti-tank or an anti-air launcher. You start with the anti-tank launcher only, but you earn the anti-air launcher pretty quickly.
Bottom line... this game is orgasmic.
Been mostly playing support and engineer, and the action is fantastic, fun, and frantic. Honestly, it feels like a hybrid of BF2 and BC2. The maps are pretty good as well, and I've seen packs of people working great together even when they're not in the same squad.
The only thing I wasn't too attached to was flying jets. The fact they can't drop bombs like they could in BF2 seems to have killed a lot of their effectiveness, and they're really just there for fun and don't really make that significant of an impact on the game.
Guys, guys, guys... come on... you're all wrong.
Rampage for the NES. All you got was "Congratulations" and a credit roll after HOURS and HOURS of painful, repetitive gameplay that couldn't be stopped. The stuff you guys are talking about is Heaven in comparison to that.

Smooth waters never built a strong sailor. Don't hate the presence of the challenge, rise to overcome it and become stronger by doing so. Rejecting evil for knowing what it is, learning to cope with pain and loss, and making things better for ourselves in the midst of pain, heartache, and disaster trains us to be stronger. Being ignorant and oblivious to it all only makes us weaker and unprepared.
I would also like to mention backtracking and long distance traveling without fast travel (usually in MMOs). A little bit of backtracking is okay and keeps the game not as linear as a game where you only visit places once and never again (Half Life 2), but when it's on Metroid's level, it can pretty annoying, and you feel like you miss a lot of the game's hidden areas because you can't remember everything you passed by before but didn't have the necessary stuff to access it.
Meanwhile, traveling around in a game like WoW can get really tedious and can take a really long time to get exactly to where you want.
I've seen games and movies that had fantastic voice acting, and I've seen games and movies that had terrible voice acting. Like most things with games and movies, this can be something that makes or breaks them. A decent voice actor can give a character much more depth and personality than if you were just reading text blocks on a screen. You can hear their anger, their amusement, their sadness, and their stress if it is done right.
Dead Island is a pretty good example where I found the voice acting was fantastic, not just in the main characters, but practically with every character in the game, even just the minor NPCs. It gave a much stronger sense of the kinds of people you were interacting with, some being hopeful, others emotionally crushed with the disaster that had befallen the island, and others worried about what was going to happen next or if anyone was ever going to come and help. I think it would have been a heavy loss if the game resorted to just reaching text when characters were speaking.
Sure, the days of reading text blocks and imagining what characters sound like from your own imagination may be coming to an end, but that's not always a bad thing.
Yeah, I miss cheat codes. They often allowed you to just screw around and have fun with the game rather than try to beat it legitimately. Or they made a game too hard to complete otherwise actually bearable.
I was also a big user of Game Genie and Game Shark when they were still around. Good times.
Definitely worth buying. I have one and it drastically helped me improve on my drawing skills, whereas a mouse somewhat kept me locked in drawing just hopelessly average drawings.

Might be because it was only in Beta stage. That's something that could be very well resolved when the actual game comes out. All I could find were Operation Metro servers,
