Walls, fences, and buildings withstand every kind of explosive blast.

Shooting one's allies never hurts them, or doesn't hurt them as much as shooting your enemies.

Wood and other flammable materials never actually catch on fire. Only red fuel cans do.

There is always some way out or some place to go to in order to progress forward.

Most cars just simply don't work.

The end of the world just happened again, but you always still seem to be alive each and every time.

Target Earth for Sega Genesis. Hideously difficult game, but was fantastic when you didn't need to worry so much about all the stupid things shooting at you all at once.

Response to: Call of Duty Black Ops...is shit Posted February 14th, 2011 in Video Games

Its not a bad game. The multiplayer can get a bit annoying at times, but as long as you don't take it overly seriously and just enjoy it casually, its still pretty good. As far as Call of Duty: Black Ops vs Battlefield Bad Company 2, that all depends on how you prefer to play. If you like fast and frantic, go Black Ops. If you prefer a more squad-based, tactical approach, go Bad Company 2.

Personally, I like both games, and they have different approaches which makes them uniquely different.

Response to: Dot Dot Dot popularity Posted February 12th, 2011 in General

It proves that humor is far, far, far more important in a flash than its art quality when it comes to score, which isn't such a good thing. Dot dot dot was good, had a funny presentation and very whimsical voice acting that really made it what it is, but I wouldn't say it should be sitting on top. Same thing with asdfmovie3, a movie where the humor is pretty funny, but the artwork is lacking horribly.

Personally, I don't agree with them sitting on top of games and movies that obviously took a lot more work and dedication, but its really the core of Newgrounds's voters that need to realize that. The problem is if the trend continues, you're going to have truly talented artists give up that talent just to attempt to make their flashes funny rather than action-oriented and having real storyline depth. Imagine what would happen if, for example, JAZZA found it more productive to just make simple, humorous flashes like asdfmovie3 instead of Larry and all of its eye-catching artwork. And then imagine if every flash author adopted that mentality. All we'd really have are a lot of flashes with short-lived humor and a horrible lacking of depth and storyline substance.

Take it as a compliment. People wouldn't steal it if it wasn't any good.

This. I enjoyed WoW, but I quit it after a while because the monthly charges just kept adding and adding up, and after a while, you begin to realize the game has eaten and demanded more money than you would have initially liked to invest into it.

If it was free, I'd probably still be playing it.

Response to: Have you ever like submitting flash Posted February 10th, 2011 in General

I usually submit, go and do something else for a while, and check back later. My scores usually start under 3.5, but they tend to go up over time.

Most I've been able to get is a Daily Fifth for a solo submission, though.

Giving this a shot and going for the $40 full version. I have worked with 3D Studio Max before, so I have a fair idea of what to expect with this.

Hopefully its not too hard to pick up and learn.

Response to: Sonic games and fans Posted February 9th, 2011 in Video Games

I played a good share of the Sonic games on the Genesis, and they were pretty decent and honestly fun for being a different approach to typical platformer games. However, a few years later, Sonic pretty much died for quite some time, and I found myself moving onto other computer, Nintendo, and Playstation games instead of buying Saturn and Dreamcast (and I'm glad I did). There was a long period of time during the N64 and Playstation days where everyone, self included, was convinced Sonic would never make a comeback.

Now that I'm older, Sonic and the new Sonic games just seem... really childish, and current fans of the series usually don't strike me as anywhere near mature with their obsessions over the fandom. I can't say very much about the new games mainly for the fact I haven't played any of them (not to mention I have no interest in them either), but I've heard that Sonic hasn't translated into 3D very well and I believe it remembering how it was on the Genesis. Also, as shown in posts above, there are many Sonic fans out there that are outright disturbing with their compulsive obsessions over simple fictional video game characters that definitely suggests they have medically serious psychological problems. I know some find it very easy to laugh at, but I can't because it just seems that serious.

Bottom line, Sonic was and could have remained as a decent video game character and game series. The years have not been a friend to him, however.

We really, really don't need another Smash Bros game. Ever again. Its the kind of game that needs to die and be remembered for being a good game rather than continued again and again until it becomes a bad one.

5th generation for sure. The 4th was also very good as well. Loads of great gaming memories in those two.

Response to: I miss the 90s sometimes Posted January 26th, 2011 in Video Games

I miss beat 'em up style games like Streets of Rage, where you grab a bunch of buddies and just bash every enemy you see with either your fists or with weapons you find laying around. You never see those types of games anymore.

I have to say though, the Macbeth level was orgasmic fun. Tearing apart the train car by car and then sending the rest of it flying into that warehouse to explode was ecstasy.

I was never sure whether to get Star Fox Assault or not, because I've heard very mixed reviews on it.

It was a great time when anyone could enjoy a game like Star Fox 64 and not be considered a furry for doing so.

Response to: Modern Warfare 3 wishlist Posted January 5th, 2011 in Video Games

MW2 was really not that, that bad of a game, people. But anyway, some things I've love to see in a Modern Warfare 3 game are:

- Soundtrack by Hans Zimmer again. MW2's soundtrack was epic.
- Follow Black Ops's Killstreak setup. To me, this is a perfect balance.
- An Anti-Knife perk. Something where a person kniving gets killed instead of the target (Or blocks the knife attack if that seems too extreme). Great for those who really hate getting knifed again and again.
- Drop motion sensors. They encourage too much camping.
- Campaign being a bit longer would be nice, but the length of MW2's campaign was pretty good though.
- Keep the map sizes the way they are. Hate to say it, but for those who want bigger maps should try playing BF:BC2 to discover what happens when maps get really big. EVERYONE and their mother starts sniping. Or, have bigger map sizes, but more people packed into games.
- Keep grenade launchers the way they are from Black Ops. To me, this is perfect, makes them still usable, but not in excessive amounts.
- Don't bring back Stopping Power.
- Get rid of Last Stand/Final Stand/Second Chance.
- No "classified" weapons. I shouldn't have to buy like 20K worth of assault rifles just to get the last one that everyone knows what it is already anyway.
- Keep the currency system and the contracts.
- And integrate both emblem setups, where you can either pick a really good premade one, like in MW2, or build your own, like in Black Ops. I also like being able to buy your layout instead of trying to break your neck trying to earn it through doing ridiculous challenges.

I'm not really into the zombie modes. But I like Ground War TDM and Domination.

Some new maps would be welcome, so I'm looking forward to that DLC.

Response to: What Builds Do You Prefer In Rpgs? Posted January 1st, 2011 in Video Games

Usually the warrior build, to gain allowance to all weapons, armor, and usually have the highest health. Never was too fond of magic classes mainly for the fact that their armor and health is usually next to nothing.

You at least need the Super Flare attack with Mario (the ability that lets you shoot the giant fireballs). Otherwise, chances are you're under-leveled for that fight. Took me a few times as well, its a pretty annoying fight.

Response to: art Posted December 18th, 2010 in Video Games

I still think games are art, since no matter what game you look at, there is some creative process and imagination that goes on behind it (yes, even if the game sucks). Some of the more recent games also involve a ton of computer modeling, cinematography, special effects, lighting, and many other aspects just to reach completion. The fact that they are games just means there are new added rules to the context as opposed to a movie which you just watch from beginning to end.

Do you actually join clans? Posted December 18th, 2010 in Video Games

Personally, I don't. I've joined a small handful of clans for CSS and Battlefield 2 in the past, but those were pretty short-lived experiences and honestly, I found clans to be pretty pointless. I just don't take games seriously enough to be joining things like that.

Still, I'm wondering about how much the rest of NG gets in on this scene.

Response to: How do you prepare for Multiplayer? Posted December 18th, 2010 in Video Games

Sometimes I play the campaign mode before playing multiplayer, just to get used to the controls and feel for the game, but that's usually only for about an hour or so. After that, I just jump right in.

Besides, no one really cares about your KDR besides yourself. And if you're in a clan that recruits members based on KDR, chances are good it will be a crappy, elitist clan anyway.

Response to: They ruined the Max Payne series! Posted December 18th, 2010 in Video Games

It just doesn't seem like a Max Payne game. Max looks nothing like he did in previous games and the whole atmosphere of the game seems vastly different. I am still a little bit hopeful considering its being developed by Rockstar, who is renown for making awesome games, but still, I'm uncertain it will feel the same.

Still, Max Payne 1 & 2 were fantastic, I enjoyed both of them all the way through. Haven't seen the movie, but I've heard its not all that great.

Response to: Blizzard's next franchise Posted December 17th, 2010 in Video Games

I'd love to see them go for a game genre that's based more on World War II's time period, but with fantasy elements, a bit like Indiana Jones but with more than just that. They probably could make a pretty decent and interesting RTS game from that.
