That is some INSANE shading! How did you do that?

It's all about adjusting the flow and opacity to pen pressure and going in with a hard brush ( adjusting opacity to 30%-80% while you draw) then to blend even further you do the same with a soft brush adjusting opacity to around 20%-30%. All while doing this I am using the color picker in between almost every other brush stroke to blend to the adjacent color. Hope this helps!

On yours the gold comes out a little shinier, I think the more powerful highlight looks better than the dull one on the original. It gives it a very flashy feel, something I would personally expect from Tony Stark considering some of his life style.

Awesome thanks! Using the Curves feature i adjusted the white blowouts to give it that extra kick of highlight. Seems like it will be handy for metal objects and shiny things! heh Tony Stark is all about bein' Flashy

Sometimes people here can be a little over-zealous when it comes to identifying art that they think might be traced or stolen. I hope it doesn't put you off of our forum here, we're actually a pretty cool community. =]

I appreciate your post! It's quite alright i can take a hit and it helps me realize some things about my artwork that i haven't been able to identify on my own. It will only help me work harder to get better results on my next project =)

I love looking at everyone elses artwork on here, it's pretty inspiring seeing some really great ideas! Thanks again!

Good job with lightning tho

You're absolutely right! I can really see my mistakes when the picture is place directly next to the original. I'll have to place them like that when Im working on another one to correct anything. Thanks!

Response to: Iron Man Digital Art Posted November 13th, 2010 in Art

If you want to draw a portrait of someone you have to sit and stare at them for hours to get it to look atleast somewhat identical, there is no difference here. You can't comment on someone's portrait of Tiger Woods and say "Holy crap he cropped his face!" "that's a heavy reference!" ... that's the point.

But! i am sorry to give everyone false pretenses! I used Photoshop and my own colors from the color swatch. I did not dab crop or copy anything from the original.

As an artist everything you draw must be referenced if you want to achieve any realism in your paintings and I am sorry to everyone for not posting a link of my reference I should have done so!

I could have done one of him in a pose of my own, I do notice a lot of drawings of Iron Man out there that are the same thing over and over and over. A lot of people draw the same picture of Iron Man so they are all referencing off the same photo. It's the same here, I took a realistic looking portrait and painted it.

I didn't expect everyone to analyze my art to see if it were legit... just know there are people out there better than me, WAY better...

thanks to those who believe it's a portrait painting of Iron Man, 100% hand drawn on an Intuos4. Thank you!

I understand where you are coming from. we have these little notepads at work that i doodle on and make up comics and characters. I draw them up quickly with not much effort but i also don't care to post them for people to see even if they are crap, they could be funny for some people as they are for me.

Response to: Swine with a Sign Posted May 18th, 2009 in Art

I would also like for you to take into consideration all these pieces have been done over a long period of time, i didn't just doodle up different styles of art in a couple nights. All these are stored on my PC. i draw at work and at home, i can think of something and bring it to photoshop and clean it up. the two bird creatures i did not too long after i got my wacom tablet because i really wanted to get the feel of using one as it took some time getting use to.

Response to: Swine with a Sign Posted May 18th, 2009 in Art

these are all seriously done by me and it's a shame i can't even post my own artwork here without someone calling me a fake... why would you automatically assume I'm a fraud just because of different types of artwork done by one person, is this impossible or something?

and it was done with a wacom tablet intuos2 in Photoshop or Corel Painter, i can't remember which one i used because i use both very often.

I enjoy drawing anything and everything and im definitely up to new ideas and different styles and challenges. I hope you can take it to heart that this is truly my artwork and if you can't I ask you to leave me alone.
