I would recommend watching Ryan Lang's interview. He was one of the concept artists for Wreck it Ralph and he gives a terrific demonstration on how to create spheres using Clipping Masks about 46 minutes into the interview.

My only issue would be the scar, it looks to me more like a gash at the moment. Maybe make it a little lighter, slightly less harsh?
