I know. But I agree that Heathenry is the best thread this year (same I can't keep it bumped... too many people afraid to take it on, I guess). But as it's creator (with help from Imp and Sol) I hesitate to toot my own horn.

Maybe I'll nominate anything Shaggy starts... for sheer hilariousness.

That's because you attempted to explain that because these candidates didn't believe in evolution and rather creationism, that they lacked a certain intelligence.

...they do. But evolution itself has nothing to do with it. We could substitute the word "relativity" or "gravity" or quantum mechanics" or "string theory"... or anything that has evidence. Actively denying factual evidence for evidenceless faith is not the hallmark of a rational individual. I prefer my leader to be rational. See the connection?

Actually the phrase I used was "rationality". If I EVER used the phrase "common knowledge" as a defense of anything or a reason for anything, it was in error.
I believe the phrase is "same difference".

Cyberpunk author Neal Stephenson once wrote that the only real indicator of human intelligence is the ability to detect subtlety. I think he's on to something, because if you don't see a difference between those two concepts, then you lack far more than Huckabee.

But denying fact for faith is a deal breaker.
Thanks for proving my point.

Whatever you say, memmy.

That's a blog.

Nice try though.
Sorry, what?
Let's put it into context:

"the uniting of one man and one woman in covenant commitment for a lifetime." It also notes, "The husband and wife are of equal worth before God, since both are created in God's image. ... A husband is to love his wife as Christ loved the church. ... A wife is to submit herself graciously to the servant leadership of her husband even as the church willingly submits to the headship of Christ.

----

Suggesting that there is anything odd about that is laughable considering in basically every single religion, every single culture, even that of atheists, the role of man is the patriarch of the household as been as the leader.

Rationalize it however you want, I don't care. Remember, just because a lot of people believe it, doesn't make it right. If a husband and wife are equal, than no submission should be necessary. Or it should at least be mutual. I suppose you find nothing wrong with "separate but equal" because it says "equal" right?

You made the claim that how can people who deny evolution even be considered as President because it showed a lack of you label as "common knowledge".

Actually the phrase I used was "rationality". If I EVER used the phrase "common knowledge" as a defense of anything or a reason for anything, it was in error.

Which leads me to believe that because all of the presidential candidates (be they left or right) are religous and most of which are not believers in evolution, it forces you to look at other several key factors in deciding whom to vote for.

Most don't believe in evolution? Funny, 7 of the ten GOP candidates do. McCain actually looked insulted that he would be asked that question. I would bet that every single one of the Dems would claim to believe in it as well. And believe it or not, I do look at other factors. But denying fact for faith is a deal breaker.

Your basis for selecting a presidential candidate is based upon the requirement of their lack of religious belief and total agreeance of current evolutionary theory (which ironically evolves over time as well) which you made blatantly clear in a thread you started.

No, it's not. I'm sorry you still don't understand that, but I don't know how else to put it.

Huckabee is the single candidate that the Democrats should fear the most. None of the other republicans will be able to hold a candle to the Dem nomination. Huck's got the firm support of the religious right, performs well in debates, isn't a Mormon or a philandering fagloving babykilling sleazeball... is likable and has the backing of Chuck Norris. He can beat any of the democrats, even the hillary juggernaut(bitch).

He's poised to win Iowa. He won't be able to overtake Romney in New Hampshire, but he'll be in the mix in South Carolina... probably getting bolstered by his performance in Iowa, while Romney will have the opposite experience for the same reason. Being one of the three repubs who without hesitation or shame admitted on live television that they didn't believe in Evolution, he is the single scariest republican on the ticket right now. Because he's just as nuts as Romney or Bush (but in a more subtle and well-disguised way)... and he can win.

Three cheers for Ron Paul. He's crazy too! Like a fox!

also, anyone who still thinks my issue with huck is actually about evolution needs to l2r.
