Actually it is the power supply since it doesn't boot up at all. The motherboard standby is fine by some diagnostics test. However, the power supply fan died because it doesn't turn on anything at all. The fans would be running if it wasn't the power supply.

New problem xD. Uhhh when I fixed my computer from my previous post everything runs fine, installed all my programs, steam, blah, blah. Anyway when I was playing a steam game (half-life 2: episode one just got the orange box) my computer makes a high pitch squealing noise nothing really noticeable over the hard drive (SATA so it is quite). The noise goes on for maybe half an hour, then my computer shuts off. I try to turn it back on and it won't

Here is the kicker LED lights are still on which means it is on standby receiving power. I am thinking wtf is up with my computer. Anyways I am pretty sure the power supply died since it made that high pitched noise, but it seems that my computer is getting power still. So anyone have any ideas. Also strapped for cash I so might not be able to afford another power supply for a bit. (Also power supply came with the case 500 watts so may be a cheap one.)

Don't get a laptop. Customize your PC. Laptops will be outdated in a year. With the money you have you can get a very top notch customized desktop. The cut is how to put it together but if you need help I can guide you through.

Yes, I need some help with installing software on my new comp that I recently built. I have installed Windows XP and partitioned it so far. I hasn't booted up to windows yet and keeps bluescreening...

It says that my BIOS isn't compatible to my ACPI/APIC and tells me to disable it. I disable it, nothing happens and appears to give me the same blue screen menu. I tried to reinstall windows but the boot still doesn't work.
