hey its alright, just ask if you want anymore help. and is their any chance of seeing any new work what you have spent some time on? as from that i may be able to find some tuts what could help you =] oh also, what is your fav medium to work with?

Response to: Critique Thread Posted February 8th, 2008 in Art

because i would be doing it and i would put time into it, and if i can find the right tut then i would send em a link.
also sure you may say that i could go round other peoples threads and look at their work and crit on it there, but that would take a long time and would require me to live on this forum

Response to: Critique Thread Posted February 8th, 2008 in Art

yes and i wish that was the case, but most of the time when people ask for critique form this thread they get answers like "wow thats nice" and "hmm needs work on the face" were on this thread I'm planning on giving people full critique and telling them how they can improve.

and how the hell can people be against this, its here to help people with their art

Response to: Critique Thread Posted February 8th, 2008 in Art

an so there will be. im only trying to help, sure if theres a better home for this then do tell me.

Critique Thread Posted February 8th, 2008 in Art

My idea for this is that anybody can post their best work so it can be c&c on. So i don't want any "5 min sketches" nor unskilled ms paint work.

I don't want to be the only person doing the critique on here so i would appreciate it if other people would help with commenting on others work. But i really don't want any want any brainless comments like "Cool" etc so please put some thought into them and tell the artists how they can improve.

hmm Constructive criticism hey. right then
Image 1 - its good with the detail you have put into it.
Anatomy it starts off pretty good with the face (still needs work, but I'm guessing your still quite young) then it deteriorates as it gets lower down the body of the character anatomy wise. It almost looks alike he has no skin and that he has been starved
*tips* For you anatomy work, firstly try doing some anatomy studies (that could be studying from books or taking your paper outside and drawing every day people.) also if you do not have time for the studies you can work from reference. this can be done in two ways firstly you can take pictures of yourself and use your anatomy on your image, or you can search google for an image what looks similar in stance and anatomy that you want to draw (an idea would be to also save these images for future reference)

Form As for form of you image he seems a little too tense and unnatural. this can easily be improved by checking out how the professionals have there characters standing.
*tips* when coming up with a stance for your image try to make him look as natural as possible (as mentioned above check out references)

Lighting/Shading
this is probably your strongest point of this image you have done pretty well with it. but as you are using pen and ink (or so I'm guessing) you aren't going to be able to get a great difference with hard and soft strokes.
*tips* try doing some work with different grades on pencil (hard and soft)

Image 2 - you have quite a nice cartoon style. it isn't anything greatly different to most over cartoon styles here but its still good. i think the best thing to do know would be to work on adding some colors (this applies to most of your work)

Image 3 - This has to be your best work from what iv seen form you. it has nice soft strokes. also the anatomy is pretty good (although still needs a little bit of work.) the thing on his face looks a little odd and out of place as i do believe that the perspective is wrong on it. this shouldn't be too hard to fix though jsut needs more working on it.

Overall Tips
1) build up a bank of reference images for use with anatomy and form.
2) stark adding color with your image.
3) try to experiment with different mediums.

hope this helps
And remember don't let any of this put you down =]

p.s. some of the points iv made here anybody can use for instance build up a stock library

Keep drawing guys

whatever part of the body you find hardest to draw, draw it until it is the easiest.

Response to: Environments & Sketches Posted February 7th, 2008 in Art

ah dude, i really do feel sorry for you. your best off deleting this thread and starting fresh. shame it has to resort to this, you have great talent.

Response to: Tankmen Redrawings Posted February 7th, 2008 in Art

yeah dude, instead of drawing millions a day, just spend your time drawing one. like just focus on one piece at a time. like i understand that your pretty young so your not going to do level/light and anatomy studies and all that jazz.keep drawing dude =]

p.s. try using some different pencils e.g. use a B (harder lead) to do your outlines and a softer lead like a 4b for the shading.
