Made a new song. 8-bitish drum and bass I guess...sort of.

Legality of Amen Break Posted January 8th, 2011 in Audio

I am currently making music for a game project and it has come to my attention that the game might actually be something that will be for sale. In one song I used a sample of the Amen Break by the Winstons. I see it used constantly in songs here on Newgrounds, does anyone know if it's legal to use at all?

I may just change the drums to a different sample, the amen break is a little overused anyway. XD

Hello! I have been posting songs on here pretty regularily but this time is a bit different as it's an improvised orchestral jam over over some choir/taiko drums in fruity loops. I'd really ilke some feedback I hope it's alright to post something that's not from newgrounds.

if people like it I will probably put the mp3 up on newgrounds.

Hello everyone, I have been away from the newgrounds audio community for awhile but I'm back finally with a new track. It's got symphonyish sounds and drummy drum drum things. I would greatly appreciate any feedback and maybe even a new title suggestion as the current makes no sense. Behold:

Response to: Compition: Drum and Piano (cash) Posted April 19th, 2010 in Audio

Congratulations to all the winners. Many of these have ended up on my permanent playlist, all and all this was a really fun competition. Was fun to be a part of. =) I think I'm going to go through and review some of them.

Response to: Compition: Drum and Piano (cash) Posted April 17th, 2010 in Audio

Since it's likely I'm not in the top 2, it wouldn't be too bad to hear where I stand against all the other competitors. (assuming I'm in the top five) XD

in Waku Waku 7 there is a pretty cool purple animal. His name is Mauru. It's a pretty fun fighting game if you get a chance to play it.

Response to: I Had A Dream That In Nsmbwii... Posted April 7th, 2010 in Video Games

When I was a kid I spent an entire day playing nothing but Megaman 3 and Little Mermaid on the NES. Then when I dreamt I saw Megaman in a bikini with a mermaid tail. The horror of it haunts me to this day.

Waaaaaiiit whaaaat? I am a surprised. XD

Huzzah, there was a lot of really good remixes. It was a fun experience. Crazy beans etc.

I've listened to all the submissions over and over, and I've only been able to narrow it down to two of them. If you guys want I can either bring in a second judge, we can take it to a vote ( but i don't know how well that would work seeing as the people who didn't make it to the end might not be too happy :( ) or I can split the prize and announce 2 winners.

I personally don't mind the split prize option or the extra judge option. Really you could just pick one randomly and claim it was your opinion, we would be none the wiser. Obviously not the moral thing to do though. XD

unfortunately fans won't always get every song you make, a few of my favorite that I've written nobody has liked, and a few I hate are the ones that people want me to play all the time. Either that or THEY BE TROLLIN

That's just neural/bio psychology. There are many other flavors to the field. Best of all you can learn to manipulate people. Most behavorial psychologists are in advertising for a reason.

Response to: Chord Progressions Posted March 7th, 2010 in Audio

There isn't really anyhting you can't do, but there are standards of what we expect to hear in Western Music atleast.

First you have your scale, Major or a minor, lets say C major for the sake of simplicity. C D E F G A B C, all chords are made up of the notes within the scale (normally atleast), if you just chose three you have a chord, but you normaly want a root third and fifth (every other note) like C E G, or F A C. The roots of those chords are the lowest note, if you want you can mix it around though. E G C is still a C but it's shuffled over, this is called an inversion. I dunno how technical to get, However my main advice for chord progressions is to come up with a progression by experimenting within a scale, once you have your basic structure fool around with inversions and taking the chords and adding more notes from the scale, to make 7ths and 9ths (13ths if you're feeling extra snazzy).

Hopefully this isn't too confusing. I could probably spend an hour talking about each little thing I mentioned, I tried to condense it though. You can break any rule in theory, however I think it's best to understand the rules first before breaking them.

Wow, lots of tough competition. Out of curiosity will there be a second and third place listed? Even though there won't be any prizes for them, just for ego sake I suppose. XD

This is my first submission and first song done in Fruity Loops. I would highly value any constructive feedback good or bad on the piece as I am looking to improve and could use some pointers on where to do said improving. :)

Idk. I, personally, can't put an average on that. Mostly because I don't count how many I do every time I process songs...

My absolute BEST GUESS would be somewhere between 10-20 a day? Then again, I could be way off.

That is good information, cause I was starting to get paranoid. XD It's onlny been maybe 3 days now though. You guys are doing a great job with what you've got, good luck to you. =)
