Response to: Bombs... why not? Posted January 26th, 2006 in Politics

Bombs are indiscriminant. While guns are dangerous they can be directed and controled. An explosion harms anybody near it whether they are the intended victim or not.

And the US didn't bomb Pearl Harbor... good grief what's wrong with you?

Actually I'm sure he's just happy to not have the fact that he screws 14 year olds brought up on the show.

Response to: the ultimate showdown is overated Posted January 24th, 2006 in General

The Ultimate Showdown is pretty good but it's one of those movies where the real strong part is the song and not so much the actual animation. I mean all they really did was put in pictures what the song clearly laid out in its lyrics.

Response to: Why all the homophobia? Posted January 20th, 2006 in Politics

I would say it has a great deal to do with the fact that most of the newgrounds users are in high school or younger. People of that age rarely really understand homosexuality (they may know what it is but that doesn't mean that they understand it) and therefore tend to fear and mock it. At least that's been my experience with teenagers. Some of them understand, most of them don't.

Response to: Election '08 Posted January 19th, 2006 in Politics

Well I think Hillary is pretty much a shoe in for the Dem nomination.

Republicans is a little more up in the air. I know Romney from Mass will probably run. I'd personally like to see McCain run, if he'd ran in 2000 I would have voted for him (and I consider myself more or less a liberal).

Response to: Why hate the French? Posted January 19th, 2006 in Politics

Yes as a nation we owe France a great deal of gratitude. However you are talking about something that happened over 200 years ago. Now I have nothing against the nation in and of itself, however many French people (at least the ones that I've met) tend to have a very hostile attitude, sort of a "If it's not French then it's crap" vibe. It's a great country there to be sure, but that doesn't mean I'm going to automatically respect the people in it.

Ok so nobody is totally 50/50, but that doesn't mean a person can't be say 60/40, maybe leaning more towards women but still appreciating and being attracted to men. Most bi-sexuals lean more towards one or that other, I don't see where that's a problem.

That may be true, but who can say which are the ones we're meant to act on and which ones aren't? It all gets pretty subjective.

Response to: Global warming or good weather? Posted January 13th, 2006 in Politics

I'm praying it's just a fluke but winters have been having longer warm stretches over the past few years. Yeah they usually subside but they shouldn't be there in the first place. I'm in Boston and we went from 6 inch snow fall to 45 degrees in a matter of weeks in early January. This is wrong, and it really is an indication of global warming. In spite of the name it doesn't just mean the weather gets warmer, it means the weather gets erratic and much more extreme (and we've definitely been seeing that, Katrina anyone?).

Response to: Come in and bitch about America. Posted January 13th, 2006 in Politics

There's nothing wrong with America, it's just that the people here suck.

I can't bitch about the country as a whole because I think it's just the individuals who cause all the problems. Politicians out for themselves, or simply incompetent. Uninformed people with strong opinions and no real facts. News that's more about agenda and entertainment then actually giving the news. I could go on, but I'm getting a twitch in my eye thinking about this crap.

God bless this country, but damn all the people in it.

Response to: How will we die? Posted January 13th, 2006 in Politics

Given our ability as a species to find a way to live in pretty much any environment on the planet I figure it'll have to be something sudden and extreme. So we're talking meteor impact or nuklear fall out or something like that. Or the less glamorous way I could see us going is simply global warming killing off what we need to live (trees, animals, etc) leaving us to wither away as a species.

Response to: Bisexuality. Posted January 13th, 2006 in Politics

*Sigh* This is becoming very tired. It's not ok to fear gays anymore so bisexuals have become the new "They are sick!" group to pick on, in spite of the fact that the two things they do (have sex with men, or have sex with women) are individually fine. Now all of a sudden wanting variety in your sex life is a mental disease and social crime? When did this happen?

Now I do understand part of why people are bitter towards bisexuals, it has become rather trendy to say that one is bi (especially for women) and the result is annoying posers. But that doesn't mean that there is no such thing as a bisexual. Is it really so outrageousa notion that a person is able to see and appreciate the beauty of both men and women? Why is that idea so offensive to some people?

Being bi is the new sexual/social stigma, gays think you're posing and straight people are usually just scared and confused.

Interesting point, but then how do we know that he's not giving people messages to spread? Think about it, what do we do to people who go around claiming that they heard from God directly? We either lock them away and assume they're nuts or ignore them outright. So maybe people are hearing the word of God but nobody believes them.

Of course the flipside of that coin is that maybe some of the people in the bible who claimed to have spoken with God were just nuts. I'm not saying that's the case I'm just saying given our current reaction to somebody saying stuff like that it's interesting to think about.

The real funny thing about sodomy laws is that everybody thinks that it's all about gay sex but from a legal standpoint it's any non-vaginal penetration. That means that techinically in states that have sodomy laws, it's illegal to get a blow job.
