Oh we'll leave eventually, and when we do the whole region will fall apart again. As much as Sadam was an evil bastard the sad truth is that there is so much turmoil in that part of the world that unless the people are afraid of their leader they're going to kill him. And that sort of situation isn't going to change, there are too many deep rooted problems stemming from religious and tribal warfare and those aren't going to go away. Iraq was not a model country and Sadam was certainly no great person, but he did maintain a stable country (relatively speaking). And with him gone it's not stable anymore and it probably never will be. I'm sure we'll leave though once the leaders finally accept that it is literally impossible to win this war in any sort of traditional sense. Any leader we put in place that is not a dictator is going to be toppled fairly quickly once we're out though.

You can't with either with or without government. With government the people who want the power are almost always the least fit to wield it and you end up with oppressive or innept or usually just self serving governments. So people can't be trusted to govern us. But then with no government and rules and regulations and everybody out for only themselves the whole thing will collapse because a person is not going to help their neighbor if they don't have to. So people can't be trusted to be left alone either. The answer is clear, people are the problem. Armadillos should rule the world.

I discovered this site in 2000 but I was already in college so I doubt I've had as drastic changes happen to me as some. But I've moved 6 times in 4 different states and gotten married so I guess that's pretty good.

Just because he's a total moron doesn't mean that anybody who shares his political views are. There are intelligent liberals, just like there are intelligent conservatives. You need to realize that the majority of the population (liberal or conservative) is made of complete idiots, but they don't speak for all of us.

I don't know if I believe in ghosts as we understand them but I do believe that there is more to the world than we know and I do believe there is a reason for most "ghostly" occurances that we don't understand. Whether or not it's actually the spirits of dead people I don't know.

Here's my issue right now, we say we want a democracy but if it results in the election of people we don't like or trust then we get all pissy (Palestine being the case in point).

Anybody notice how there's no indication that it was the un-warranted wire taps that helped prevent this supposed planned attack? That's the big kicker for me. Sure the whole thing is questionable to begin with but even if it's true it still doesn't defend the President's actions in regards to wire taps.

You need to realize that according to Muslim faith it is highly blasphemous to portray Mohamed at all, in any fashion. So it's already going to get them upset even before you get into the actual depiction. I'm not saying that they aren't over reacting but considering how much their faith dictates how they live I understand why they're as upset as they are.

So by your logic a woman born female who is infertile and has entered menopause (i.e. no longer having a period) is no longer a woman?

But to get back to the original issue it's a little tricky for me. Is the person a woman in the strictest sense? Well no of course not, you can't change DNA. But that doesn't mean they aren't entitled to live as a woman and to be treated as such should they chose.

If somebody has actually gone through painful elective surgery and face possible rejection and ridicule from friends and family I think they least they deserve is to be treated as a woman.
